The loan from a council is a non starter I think. It was only talked about around election time and required the Prem / FL to guarantee re-payment from parachute payments (Pompey get them till 2014!) which they won’t do. It also requires PST to be the only bidder and that’s not the case. Although PST claim Chanrai has failed fit and proper there’s nothing from the FL to confirm that and he says his bid is still ongoing.

‘More than 2,000’ pompey fans have paid the initial deposit, £100, but now they need them to come through with the other £900. Those that don’t get the £100 back so paying the deposit is no guarantee that they’ll pay the whole lot. Shares can’t be sold or transferred so basically you’re making a donation, you can apply to cash in your share after 5 years but it’s up to PST if they let you and only 5% of shares can be cashed in If they do all come thorough that’s £2m raised. They need them to come through as if they don’t get the £2m the Pompey Supporters Trust will not be the majority shareholder. 2 directors of the PST will be on the board. Keep in mind the PST and the football club are different things as people often confuse that. No mention of what happens if they don’t get enough to be majority shareholder or if more cash is needed int eh future.

There’s then presidents, people who invest £50K or more. These presidents own another slice of the football club and have 3 directors on the board. On top of that anyone who invests £200K or more gets a place on the board. These people are not part of PST.
The proposed budget shows a loss of £3m over the rest of this season and next season before moving into profit so that would mean these guys are putting up around £1m.

Finally there’s a ‘strategic property partner’, who is looking to buy Fratton Park for £2.65m and also the land around Fratton Park in a separate transaction (currently owned by a company belonging to one of the former owners which is itself in admin).
He will then rent the ground back to the club on an ‘affordable’ basis with an option in the first 5 years for the club to buy the ground back.

Todays nuggets of information that the locals have slipped out:

The property developer involved is a Spurs fan who has never been to a Pompey game yet is supposedly not in it to benefit for himself
The budget is based on staying in L1 and crowds of 12,000 (less than 10,000 there last night)
There is no mention in the prospectus of the fact that the agreement with former players was for £8m in payments and the PST budget for this is around £2m
The budget shows increased renveue from sponsorship, advertising etc but no mention of how that will be achieved

The answer is he is within their wage structure. They are allowed 18 players and have a fixed wage budget which they have to adhere to. They are allowed to have some players on a maximum wage of £5,000 a week so I guess he is one of them.

They have a wage cap and have a maximum wage allowed of £5,000 a week. Given he was at Barnet before probably he is not. He did look good and his goalscoring record also looks good so yes he may be worth a look. Is quite funny that we have seen him and Leon Clark in the last couple of weeks who are vastly superior to McDonald yet some on here are still convinced he is the answer. We have to get rid of him and a couple of others to fund some real forwards.

Former Sunderland midfield hardman Kevin Ball is a 16-1 shot and best placed of the former Sky Blues to take the reins. Ball started his career with Coventry although he never made a first-team appearance.

Portsmouth: Football League reaffirm points deduction


The Football League have confirmed they intend to dock Portsmouth 10 points when they come out of administration.
Pompey have been in administration since February and are £61m in debt.
They are in the process of a takeover bid by the Pompey Supporters' Trust but that is conditional on administrators forcing the sale of Fratton Park.
"The Football League re-affirm its earlier decision that these conditions would include a deduction of 10 points," said the statement.

A 10-point deduction would leave the club in the League One relegation zone, but the PST say that decision was always expected.
"The 10-point deduction was anticipated," spokesman Colin Farmery told BBC Radio Solent.
"I don't think that is a great, significant blow to fans. I think most of us expected that was a likely outcome.
"The key thing is we are taking a long-term view of this decision and in the long term we think this is great news for Portsmouth Football Club."
Administrators of the club PKF will attempt to force the sale of Fratton Park at the High Court on Thursday.
If the judge agrees, an independent valuation will then be made leaving the PST free to complete the takeover of the club.

Fratton Park is currently controlled by Balram Chainrai, who is owed around £12m by the club and holds the stadium as security.
The Football League say they will approve the PST as owners if two areas can be resolved "they are the outcome of the current High Court proceedings relating to the ownership of Fratton Park and PST raising the remaining funding from supporters that is anticipated in its business plan."
Pompey's points deduction had been suspended but the league confirmed it will still be applied while also adding there will be further punishments against the club such as "restrictions on playing budgets and future borrowing for the next four seasons."
But the PST said in a statement they welcomed the news as a positive step.
"We are very pleased The Football League has shown confidence in our bid by endorsing our proposed membership. This is a highly significant moment for the club," said Ashley Brown, chairman of PST.
"We have always argued that Pompey needs a community-led solution and we are very pleased the league shares our confidence in our ability to turn the club around.
"Thanks to the backing of our fans and our individual investors we have a robust business plan, which the league has endorsed."
