    Does anybody here rate him?

Do they feel he will ever improve?

I don't, I can't stand him in a City shirt, I don't see why he's given chance after to chance to impress yet makes the most awful mistakes I've ever seen, I hope when his contract is up that he's released.

Would love to know his game to conceding ratio, can't seem to find it online.

Honestly, I think he would be a good player to sell if we could. Get in a more experienced pro as our number one and use the cash wisely.

He did have some really good games last season, but if he left tomorrow, I wouldn't be too gutted due to his overall contribution.

Oh, and the fact he's had about eleventy billion penalties at him and never saved one really boils my piss...

He's our record holder for minutes without conceding...

I like him. If he can just cut out the rush of the blood to the head stuff I think he can be a good keeper.

I don't think there is too much between him and Burge, last season he played well, but I wonder how many of his errors went unnoticed in the first half of last season when we were banging them in the opposite end and getting the wins. RCC was left exposed after we lost our CBs, and i think it showed his true colours.

Look at last nights highlights, 1:20 into the video, how many times has he tried that stunt and failed?

Credit goes to the whole team for that, not just RCC.

But that can be coached out of him. Definitely something he can work on. It's not like he's got weak hands or doesn't command his box, or is useless covering his angles etc.

If we can coach this impetuous nature out him I think there is a good keeper in there.

It's a gamble that I wouldn't punt on, especially considering where we currently find ourselves.

Anyone know how many he's conceded compared to how many games he's played?

Remember he's a young lad and keepers don't tend to peak 'till their 30's. I can see talent in him and would much rather his name on the team sheet than Burge's

I think he has a lot of potential. had a good run last year.

Needs to stop the crazy charges out and brush up on penalties

    2015/16: 39 App 38 conceded
    2016/17: 17 App 30 conceded

6 of those against Norwich in 2016 to help him out. Not bad at all really. I don't think he deserves the criticism in this thread.

Only a quick check so might edit.

According to Tranfermarkt (which is usually pretty good)

Reice Charles Cook - Played 56, Conceded 66, Clean Sheets 19, Goals per Game 1.18, Clean Sheet percentage 34%
Lee Burge - Played 51, Conceded 67, Clean Sheets 13, Goals per Game 1.31, Clean Sheet percentage 25%

I know RCC has an error in him but I think as an all-round goalkeeper he is superior to Burge, particularly in distribution and command of the area...

This is why in my OP I mentioned to release him at the end of his contract, which would give us no choice but to look for a replacement in the summer. That is if his contract is up in June?

Didn't he say save a penalty a penalty from Will Grigg at the end of last season?

    RCC senior appearances... for ccfc
56 games, conceded 66 goals, 19 clean sheets I think.
Also saved Will Griggs penalty last year at Wigan. Only one mind...

    Burge senior appearances... for ccfc
51 games, 67 conceded and 13 clean sheets.

Out of our 2 keepers I rate RCC narrowly ahead. Both have huge flaws, RCC showed last night when he went on a wonder... better distribution and command of his area than Burge who seems slightly more glued to his line more. Don't seem to no where each stick is too, let s few in like he thought he may of had it covered.

If credit goes to the whole team for that then you can't read too much into the his goals conceded/game ratio as that is the whole teams responsibility not just RCC's. Can't use the exact same metrics and discount one because it doesn't suit your argument and then use the other because it does.

Do you blame the keeper if the defence is exposing the keeper and not doing there job... do you then blame the midfield if the defence is exposed.... the forwards if..

Yet RCC is the one rushing out of his box and fucking up more times than any other keeper, that's the point.

    I think it's a team effort.

My point was that it's unfair if you aren't consistent with who you apportion blame/credit to.

To pin a bad goals/clean sheets ratio on just the goalkeeper is disproportionate; especially if you won't give the goalkeeper sole credit for a run of clean sheets.

Don't get the hate for RCC, he's a decent enough keeper. Plus he seems to love being here. Saying that if we could get money for either him or Burge I'd be tempted to let one of the them go.

There's a way worse things going on in the build up to that. Pause the video first at 1.16 and then at 1.18 and you'll see, with their player in possession approaching halfway, Ryan Haynes 6 or 7 yards ahead of his man and on the wrong side of him. That poor positional play has sucked Harries over to the free man and left a massive hole for their player to drop a ball in to. RCC shouldn't be having to do that in the first place and that kind of decision making will improve with age/experience.

Would people choose another keeper over RCC, or stick by him and leave the GK position alone?

    For next season of course.

Tighten the defence up would be a start. League One keepers are all about the same, make mistakes, make good saves. The two we've got I feel would improve even more if our defence gave them more confidence.
Slade will see this I'm sure.

Nathan clarke will have a big input in this. In the Bolton game it was clear that clarke commands the back 4 and keeper. A few times he instructed Burge to collect, when to hold up play. A few times Burge was glued to to spot
