Efes is nice.

I think so much about religion is hypocritical in all religions not just Islam.

That is true and all of them subordinate women. The state should be completely secular and remain neutral. The fact that religion is still practised in 2016 is pretty scary.

Britain is a Christian nation. That's something we should be proud of. It's Christian values that make Britain so attractive to migrants of all faiths.

It's actually an atheist nation. The majority are not religious.

Just shows how wrong people can be. I was under the distinct impression that we would be predominantly Muslim by 2050. We are a diverse society and celebrate this. Not enough is being done to put the facts across.

Why don't you just answer the question? Why are you attempting to derail a thread with pathetic comments?

The post I replied to said "It's actually an atheist nation. The majority are not religious." Which is of course BS as demonstrated in the link I posted in my reply which you clearly failed to read because if you had have took the time to read it you wouldn't be asking me pathetic questions in the first place which actually have no baring on what I was actually pointing out which is that we aren't an atheist nation and the majority do in fact believe in a god. To difficult for you to comprehend obviously.

How are we defining Religious? I was Christened, I don't go to Church or believe any of it though. In the stats does that make me a Christian?

That is what I was getting at; there a lot of people who were Christened but who do not actually believe in religion.

If, like Tony suggests, the majority of the UK is religious, then why are church services so poorly attended?

There majority of Italy believe in a God and there are far, far more people attending religious services there than there are here.

They're opinion polls not a count of who has and hasn't been christened. For instance I was raised in a religious family, went to church every Sunday morning and then Sunday school afterwards and was christened but in my youth realised that as fascinating as the bible is I don't believe it or for that matter any other religions so I'm an atheist. So if I was asked the question for an opinion poll my answer would be atheist as I'm sure yours would be. Something Sickboy is struggling to understand.

I don't suggest anything. Opinion polls suggest it. You do know Christianity isn't the only religion practiced in the UK don't you? You don't seem to.

There is a God and he's sending you to hell Sick Boy - along with all the other willfully ignorant heathens!

God is God- religions are merely human attempts to become closer.

All very well for modern humans with their central heating, antibiotics and bullshit television to be atheist, but when half your family die from causes that are now preventable, the search for deeper meaning takes on huge significance- as it will for you when you're quaking on your death beds.

Fucking heathens!

If there was a god people wouldn't be dying from those sorts of things anyway.

Easy now.

Also if you're a christian shouldn't you forgive him not condem him to hell? Practice what you preach and all that.

Yep! Exactly. Anyone who watched the Big Questions yesterday would have seen this very argument.

Like one 'expert' was talking about Christians and another piped up and said 'Is that the Anglican Christians in this country that have accepted gay marriage' or the African Anglican Christians that have condemned them all to hell?'

Of course there is no God. I say it every day and and he hasn't smited me once yet! ;)

Stephen Fry is the last person I'd listen to on any subject.

What an obnoxious individual.

Seriously? Wow! I see him as a national teasure. Clever, witty, a great orator, a writer, an actor, a comic and someone who has worked really hard for charities over many years.

The guy is incredibly intelligent and has a good heart too.

What is obnoxious about him?

Never ever heard of anyone calling Stephen Fry obnoxious before. Bit of a shock that.

Jeremy Clarkson, yes, but not Stephen Fry. A man who speaks with great knowledge, but also manifests an enormous amount of compassion in what he says too.

That's Fry of course, not Clarkson.

He's a bit liberal and tolerant, you see...

Obnoxious was a bit strong I admit and he was brilliant in Blackadder.

Champagne Socialists have never quite been my cup of tea.

All about opinions though Otis. Each to their own.
