Virgin Media customers will be able to subscribe to Sky Movies and Sky Sports HD channels following the acquisition of Virgin TV by BSkyB.

Virgin Media has sold Virgin TV to Sky for £160m. But how does this affect viewers?

What does this mean for Virgin Media customers?

The ownership of channels (such as, Living, Challenge, Bravo and Virgin 1) will be transferred from Virgin Media to Sky. The channels are currently available from both broadcasters.

This will not affect the service or access that Sky or Virgin Media customers get to these basic package TV channels.

Both providers will continue to broadcast all of the TV channels as part of their service.

What about HD channels?

As part of the deal, many of Sky's High Definition channels, including sports and movies, will be available to Virgin Media customers.

How much will it cost?

Virgin Media are yet to announce how much they will cost and when the extra channels will be available. Customers can register their interest online via the Virgin Media website.
