What Olympic 2010 events should I try to get tickets for? (1 Viewer)

I ask because there's a lot of events and when I registered last week it was a bit tricky working out which was the best way to go.
obviously I want to see the delightful Jessica Ennis do her Heptathlon stuff and a bit of Football at the Ricoh. I'm quite partial to a bit of boxing and maybe some cycling but these are obvious and likely to be much sought after by sports fans so what minority sports should I get involved in that are entretaining but that I'm likely to be able to get tickets for?

thanks mate. I was thinking of going to see some aquatics, i don't mind a bit of swimming & I might even persuade the girlfriend to come to that because she used to be a swimmer but I'm not a massive fan of the dancey sports like synchro swimming & rythmic gymnastics. On the whole I think if you can't measure something, time something or add up goals/points it's probably not really a sport. What next cake baking? origami? morris dancing? Somethings just arn't sports.
I've added BMXing to my list & I'm fairly sure that there will some Beach Volleyball action. (obviously out of a purely sporting interest) but thanks for the pointers.

I think that BMX'ing would be good if not just to watch people fall off? :)

Haha that would be funny!

Where do you register?

hi Skyblue Kay, you go to the London 2012 olympics website and register your interest in tickets. you can't actually buy them yet but you can tick your preferences for which sports you would like to watch (inc people falling off BMXs) you can also tick for the paraolympics if that floats your preferred sporting boat.
I did the registration thing last week and it's a really simple and quick process. You just fill in your particulars and tick the sports you'd like to see.

I know it's not in keeping with the olympic spirit but it was part of my thinking as well. I do love a sports based fall down. There's a Youtube video of a teenage soccer game and one of the sides get a throw in and they've obviously got a Rory Delap type long throw specialist so the defending team stick a boy right on the touchline to get in the throw in takers way and gets the ball launched at his face from about half an inch.
I know I shouldn't but I couldn't breath for laughing for half an hour. In essence I'm a child in a man's body and I like shiny things, cartoons and pratfalls.

No problem at all. I'm looking forward to the Olympics and it seems like it's coming round quickly. What sports did you choose? I'm liking the idea of BMXing (or people falling off them at least) and since I last posted canoeing although that may be one of the sports that is better to watch on telly.

There was a lot to choose from. I think most of those were on my list and probably most peoples. I picked athletics but I think they're going to be the hot tickets, especially on the days Usain Bolt & Jessica Ennis are due to compete. I think I may have put weightlifting, I certainly gave it some thought but mostly out a sort of grotesque facination rather than an actual interest in the sport. I'm not sure I want to spend a large amount of money on something that I watch for half an hour, get bored with and leave. I think whichever tickets I get need too know I'm staying all day no matter what. I imagine it's going to be a bit pricey to give some sports a suck it and see chance if I'm honest.
Last year I went to see a one day cricket match at Edgebaston which cost 55 quid but it rained for most of the day but not enough to be completely rained off. I was forced to hang around in the Birmingham rain and have a thoroughly miserable, soggy and boring sporting experience. If I'm going all the way to "London's famous" London for sports I need to know it's going to be good and dry. *Except the swimming & canoeing but for obviously different reasons*
