Its getting ridiculous. Players are leaving before they've achieved anything to go to 'bigger' clubs they haven't got a hope of playing for. These clubs are moaning that players aren't getting competitive games - stop signing so many so early!
Think we might need to look at a new form of transfer rules. For example in the NHL players under 25 are on entry level contracts which have a salary cap. Something similar, if set a level lower division teams could pay, would remove one incentive.

i hope it's not the case, but, if the powers that be continue to offer paltry rewards, or sell promising players too soon then it is always likely to happen, just along the M69 is a club that has been busy building a future & they are an equivalently sized club / city,
the message to JS must surely be to recognise promising talent & reward it, & not to put faith in the types who have held the reins for the past 7 yrs

This will always happen when demand exceeds supply and when the richer clubs can afford to hoard all the potential talent.
We will lose many players we might have retained if we had secured promotion, or at least the prospect of promotion.

But demand doesn't exceed supply. The rules got changed, basically via blackmail, to allow the PL to sweep up a huge number of players for next to nothing. So thats what they do, they sign everyone they can and then charge other clubs to take them on loan. If one of them comes good and is a potential first team player then great. If not they end up getting released.
Chelsea have over 30 players out on loan. How many players have worked through their system to become first team regulars? Can't think of anyone since John Terry.
When the PL transfer window closed at the start of the season there were 159 PL out on loan, that has no doubt risen since.
The system is broken, the only people it helps are the clubs at the top. It doesn't help the players development and it doesn't help England produce a winning team.

players will always go for the most wages offered why wouldn't they,if its true we will get compensation. Just a point i wonder if having maddison round the place is a good thing at the moment.

Its wrong and shouldn't be allowed, we'll probably get peanuts for him under EPPP.
It will also more likely hinder his career, although any PL team will send him out on loan, we'd look after him much better here and he'll get game time next season. He should look at Wilson and maddison progression over the last 2-3 seasons.

Clubs should have a maximum squad size for all under age teams like the first team. Top clubs shouldn't be able to hoard all the talent, it's bad for competition and it's bad for the national team.

If true I had good info from the chap who works for the school football schemes that Man City had already pointed out someone in the academy and it was almost a done deal.
So with Sisu in charge it will be £60 and a million if he scores the winning goal in a world cup final.

Looks that way, the EPPP (elite player performance plan) seems to have a compensation structure, as you say calculated by time spent and at what level of academy.

The problem could be you may have to wait a while for the money as I think Burnley haven't had the Ings money from last summer yet. We will get very little for him and does make you wonder if all the fuss about the academy is earth it as get a good one and somebody pinches him.

Pretty much. It's all part of the EPPP. That got forced through when the PL teams basically said if FL teams didn't vote for it they would hold back funding.

There is no indication that the contract offers have been 'paltry'. The majority of players in his position would want to join a PL club.
Believe it or not but most footballers don't have a burning desire to play for Coventry City.
