The 3 teams coming down from the Championship (3 Viewers)

Now looking very likely to be the teams sitting in the bottom 3 as it now stands, Bolton, Charlton and MK Dons.

Which of those would we consider to be a threat in League One next season? Possibly all of them?

I would think Charlton and MK at least. Think with Northampton coming up and possibly Portsmouth too, next season is going to be very tough.

As i said in a previous thread this season was our best chance. The league next season will be harder and we wont have a top goal scorer like arma not to mention a brand new team made up of new players who will take time to gel if tm manages to turn the club a round

Club to watch next season should they come up is Bristol Rovers currently fourth. I believe they have a new mega rich owner investor who had vowed to take them all the way to the top, but I wouldn't worry about it Otis old lad with our present set-up we will do will to emulate this season.

Well yep.

Learnt my lesson this year. Even if we are top at Christmas and 20 points clear, I will still be looking to see how many points we are ahead of the bottom 4.

We punched well above ourselves for first half of this season and blew our small chance of promotion.
Next season without some genuine investment we will be bottom 8 all season.

I've also mentioned next season will be nearly impossible for us to fight for promotion. Better teams will be entering L1 next season.

Charlton are a complete mess and probably won't be in a position to dominate. MK are an ok side but hardly likely to be super strong. Bolton have got new owners and if anything they'll be the threat.

I wouldn't say the league next season will be stronger than this.

As long as it's practical to go, the first fixture I'm looking for when they come out is Northampton away!

Charlton and MK should be pretty steady. Don't know with Bolton. With all the change happening there with new owners and what not it's hard to tell. I suspect they'll replicate us when we came down. Struggle and go through a few managers.

Possible 3 things to happen next year... we will sign a 20+ goal scorer or 2 we will have a better season or again we will be shit...I am not sticking my neck out on that one

Reasonable question but again maybe shows an underlying arrogance here. Currently I'm considering whether anyone coming up from div 4 and whether they are dead certs to go back down

Bristol Rovers, Oxford, Plymouth and Portsmouth are all teams who get bigger crowds than many teams in this league, particularly those northern ones where we struggle like Scunn, Bury, Rochdale. Tough away trips up north and more competitive teams in the south.

This was always going to be a two year plan for Mogga. If we had gone up this season it would have been a bonus. I believe TM is already planning for next season, and is the right man in charge. Think we've all learn't a lot this year, and I shall certainly be keeping my expectations in check till nearer the end of the season, which I'm already looking forward to. But let's not forget where we were this time last year, not just on the pitch, but with general club morale and ambition in the club. A lot has happened, a lot of things that don't have to be thought about next season....so hopefully there'll be more focus on what is happening on the field and we can progress as TM believes we can.

Probably yeah but thing is, if its a two year plan, why have there been so many players either as loans or short term contracts? Is that down to him, or Venus or Anderson?

FWIW though, I too think we should stick with him for the time being - although we dropped like a stone and there's a plethora of theories why, for perhaps the first time in 40 years we actually looked like we would win promotion, or finish top 6 at least.

Surely thats reason enough to at least give the bloke a few months next season to get new players in, get some of the youngsters blooded and see what develops?

If we're not in the top 6 by then and looking like nothings improved, then its time to look at changes.

The only thing is that the new manager won't be able to do what he wants, so if we do it it has to be the whole season I think

This year was very weak and tbh I feared the worst next year......however I am happy with those three going down.
The league may be pretty weak again next year......Charlton and Bolton are clubs in crisis like Blackpool think they will
both struggle. MK Dons lost most of their star talent think current team/squad is on the decline they will have to do
a lot of rebuilding.

That being said we are on an appaling run of form and we will need to do a lot of rebuilding too. Happy with those
three teams coming down not many weaker sides in Championship than those 3! :claping hands:

I have no idea what the teams coming down are like as I rarely watch the championship I guess it depends on the players they keep and sign, plus there is normally one or two surprise teams at the top and the play off teams can struggle the year after. If Walsall get in the play offs and fail and lose their better players they could well be scrapping at the bottom with us.

While I agree to part of that I cannot see what TM is doing to prepare us for next season seeing that a lot of players come to our club and are massively under performing, there seems no passion no motivation no self belief and worse of all we don't look like scoring any more which is hardly surprising considering we have pinned all our hopes on a teenagers head this season

Think the top of league one will be weaker next season but the middle and bottom half will be more competitive. I think it'll be a really open season where any of a dozen teams could be competing for playoffs until late on.
