People being treated equally has more to do with Democracy than Human Rights. You can treat people equally bad. The ECHR works as a counterbalance to Utilitariainism which to be honest Labour and the Conservatives struggle with understanding.

This is why I worry about Local Democracy. I don't think Lucas has a clue what she's getting into with the WMCA.

I didn't say it didn't have its flaws sbk. This might sound a bit basic but in the eu out the eu, with human rights or without human rights, there will always be good people and bad people. Regardless of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation etc. It's the way the world is and always has been. At the present time there appears to be a media campaign to divide people on all sorts of issues. Why? What is it they say about divide and conquer? I'm not saying in or out but I will say as a nation, as a continent, as a world and most importantly as humans we are stronger together.

Human rights and freedom of speech aint worth a wank nowadays. Try putting up a "Cross of St. George" outside of your house. I'll give you 30 minutes before you've got the Police banging on your door telling you to take it down. Having the "Welsh Dragon in Wales, or the Saltire in Scotland flying proudly outside your home wouldn't get a second look from the Police. England is the only Country in the World too scared to show it's patriotism. and that's a fact!

I get your point about deporting terrorists, most people do. Human rights include freedom of speech and the right to have an opinion don't they? For everyone to be treated equally as a basic human right? As I said it's not entirely perfect but you must agree with the principle of human rights? The purpose behind it? Or would you rather live in a country like north korea? Unfortunately nothing in life is perfect and it's not always managed or regulated correctly but doesn't make it a bad thing.

FFS really? North Korea. Thats just a total over reaction. For well over a century Britain has been a country which has been held as an example to others of fairness, freedom of speech and Integrity because of our laws and justice system. Long, Long before the ECHR and the EU came in to being and I'm sure it still will be Long, Long after the EU and ECHR are forgotten about.

Are we forgetting that Britain had an empire? How exactly was that acquired? Through fair means? Are we forgetting the iraq war? You know the war we went to where british and American lives were lost. Where innocent lives were lost. For iraq had weapons of mass destruction that have still not been found. Has it not been noticeable that mainstream medias coverage of the migrant crisis has gone quiet with the referendum approaching and the current pm wanting to remain. I don't think the eu should have the final say on our laws but at the same time I don't trust our politicians anymore. Think banking crisis and no one being held to account. Think expenses scandal and apart from paying it back, no one held to account. Think mps pay rises compared to that of nurses. Think the attack on junior doctors who do a sterling job.

That all said maybe I'm over reacting or maybe you just don't agree with me? I'll stick with my opinion though thanks. The fact the official angry man agrees with you leads me to think mine is a more rounded informed opinion. Thanks though.

Big difference between being angry and passionate mate. How exactly was the "Roman Empire" aquired? Or the "Ottaman Empire" You drone on about the the "Weapons of mass destruction". You haven't said f**k all the Saddam Hussien "Mass Graves of his countrymen" which he put to death! The mass Genocide of the Kurds by him either totalling nearly 1.5m. Don't bat your gums at me preaching this that and the other. Try looking at reasons other than "Weapons of mass destruction". Very close friends of my son, who just happen to be Iraqi's have told me personally why they fled to the UK. which is why I have MY OWN views on the Iraq war.

Angry people swear which you do a lot of. I thoroughly believe saddam hussein had to go but why lie about the reason? Why send people to a war on false claims? Why not say this man is pure evil and for the good of iraq and the good of the world we need to get rid of him. I know a man that lost a son in the iraq war. I know the pain he goes through daily. I'm not preaching. I'm giving my opinion in a calm non aggressive manner.

The fifth president of Iraq, Saddam Hussein,[SUP][1][/SUP] was internationally condemned for his use of chemical weapons during the 1980s against Iranian and Kurdish civilians during and after the Iran–Iraq War. In the 1980s, Saddam pursued an extensive biological weapons program and a nuclear weapons program, though no nuclear bomb was built.
After the Persian Gulf War, the United Nations located and destroyed large quantities of Iraqi chemical weapons and related equipment and materials throughout the early 1990s, with varying degrees of Iraqi cooperation and obstruction.[SUP][2][/SUP] In response to diminishing Iraqi cooperation with UNSCOM, the United States called for withdrawal of all UN and IAEA inspectors in 1998, resulting in Operation Desert Fox. The United States and the UK asserted that Saddam Hussein still possessed large hidden stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in 2003, and that he was clandestinely procuring and producing more. Inspections by the UN to resolve the status of unresolved disarmament questions restarted between November 2002 and March 2003,[SUP][3][/SUP] under UN Security Council Resolution 1441, which demanded Saddam give "immediate, unconditional and active cooperation" with UN and IAEA inspections, shortly before his country was attacked.

Weapons of mass destruction don't just come in the shape of Guns and Tanks mate ;)

You haven't covered during or after the war? I have agreed he was pure evil. I have agreed he had to be toppled. My point is we were told we were going to war on him having weapons of mass destruction to which none were found. Now it is possible he disposed of them. It is also possible there was an ulterior motive for the war. I was responding to Eastwoods dustmans opinion that we are held in high regard. Whilst I agree in some aspects. I'm not going to gloss over where as a country we have not done what we should have. We have reluctantly and belatedly got involved in assads attack on his own people. Why?

Perhaps decimation of our armed forces by Camoron might have something to do with it!

The world with saddam Hussien ruling over Iraq ,the world without Saddam Hussien ruling
over Iraq , which is safer .Hmm
Surely no one believes we went in because he was evil, it's all about the oil and corporate
contracts , all we managed to do was destabilise further an already volatile situation.
Never see us heading off to Africa to fight against oppression and barbaric regimes, no the
world stands by and watches a genocide of 3 -5 million people in Rwanda.
The world should hang it's head in shame.

You do know who armed Saddam during the Iraq Iran war don't you .FFS America were
selling arms to both of them. Not to mention Isreal and Syria and Libya.

That's all well and good but what mandate did we go to war on?

Nobody is going to claim Saddam or any of the other middle east leaders are saints but if you think we went in for anything other than oil you're kidding yourself.

The problem we have is we assume our way of doing things is the best and try and impose that on others. But we don't have a long term plan and don't follow things through. We put people into power, or at least support them, train their soldiers, arm them etc, and then when it goes wrong we start bombing them and create a power vacuum.

Why is it down to us to sort everything? How many countries helped us in the Falklands or against the IRA?

And where do you think ISIS are getting their weapons from now?
Exactly. The powers that be need the normal joes to be concerned with a common enemy,
it gives them the green light to spend trillions of tax dollars on arms, while spending nowt
on wellfare.
Mind you if it's bad now think TRUMP

Its strange how with all this auieserity I've never heard one MP say we can't afford to bomb someone.

Do you want to put "FACT" after your claim? If it wasn't "Down to us" we'd be talking German now! One more piece of information... Who do you think supplied most weapons to the Iraqi's and the Taliban?

chiefdave....... "The problem we have is we assume our way of doing things is the best and try and impose that on others."

In the same way extremists are trying to do to the people of the UK right at this minute. in Burnley, east London, Luton etc, etc?
I really can't understand why so many people are anti-British atm. You moan about what we're doing to other Countries... Why don't you get off your PC arses and moan about what other countries are doing to Great Britain in our Country atm. WTF is the matter with you all? Too scared to be called racist? There's nothing racist about not wanting things like "Sharia Law" being forced on us, and having Cities where even the Police are too scared to enter. I quite like the words of the Canadian PM when he said We are a Christian Country that welcomes any Race, Creed, or Religion...., but don't forget this is Canada, and we have our own culture, we eat meat that other religions don't. Please don't force your customs onto the Canadian people. If you do try to do this, please feel free to leave our Country.

Erm stirring up shit? I think you try your best to do that by yourself.

No, you said he was like Trump or Hilary Clinton.

Then when questioned, you said why should you know about them.

Well, you should know a bit about them before you start saying others are like them.

You really don't read posts properly do you Nick.?.... He said QUOTE["Don't think you know you're left from right."]To which I replied "why should I have to know left from right about American Politics." Simple really... If you read posts properly, which you don't do! Unless of course he actually is American.
