he has a point. we got 17k in league one. if promoted wed hit 20 again some games. and prem would be 25 plus week in week out

its a shame buying ricoh will never happen now. i would prefer a long term rent deal at ricoh where we can get 70% of food and drink sales etc on top of a reasonable rent per year

argh if we got promoted this year i bet there would be more willingness amongst all parties to get things done, i dunno maybe thats silly but i think a lil success could help matters.

I think 25 plus week in week out is a little keen, even if we were in the prem. Yes maybe for the bigger games, but not every week. Part of it is also down to the design of any new stadium. At the ricoh it will never reach full capacity due to the crowd segregation.

the Ricoh Arena – like it or loathe it – is the club’s home, purpose built (contrary to what one misguided councillor contends) for the football club. It’s an impressive stadium, admired and envied by clubs throughout the land, including some in the Premier League.

It’s set up for top-flight football and the day we, as fans, all dream will one day become a reality again. It’s a pretty ambitious, some would say near impossible, dream as we stand at the minute but, nevertheless, it’s what keeps us going, the thought that one day ‘we’ll be back!’

The walls are built with bricks bought by us and named after our dads, lads, mums, daughters; our late loved ones are scattered there along with our Jimmy whose statue stands proudly at the front entrance, welcoming all visitors – whether to a match, a concert or conference – and reminding them of the rich history of this wonderful football club and city.

Don't remember the CT being concerned about those points when CCC were selling the stadium to Wasps and the local media were welcoming them with open arms.

I think the council have to be worried at the volatility of having Wasps as tenants of the city, they have moved their franchise once, chances are they will do it again before too long, if BPA is expanded they will then almost certainly have one empty 25,000+ stadium, which one it is depends on wether CCFC buy it from Wasps when they decide theyve had enough of Coventry.

Couldnt tell you but looking at CRFCs attendances would probably suggest there is not a sustainable demand for Rugby in the city, I think people that go currently are more Warwickshire country folk.
I know little about the politics of rugby but from what I understand there is more politics involved than in football, salary caps, only being allowed to play for your country if you ply your trade there etc.

All novelties see a boom at the begininning, its just standard product life cycle, the question will come if it has the longevity to stick in the city for 10, 15, 20 years. I personally believe the Ricoh will be in standing in Coventry longer than Wasps will, either way they are volatile and this has to be a huge risk for CCC.

I think they have to stay within a player wage cap of c£5.5m but can sign 2 players outside of the wage cap.

A lot of the Saints fan in Northampton are saying that Wasps are pushing to have the salary cap abolished completely.

Saying that though, the money in rugby union is dwarfed by that in football, and if we ever got to the PL our revenue would piss all over theirs.

From a rugby perspective, it's what makes the Wasps move so frustrating. Wouldn't have taken *that* much (relatively speaking) to bump CRFC up to that level.

I am not a Wasps fan but some of this Butts talk is in the realms of romantic fiction. To develop that site and not probably to our requirements; well the deal they wouldn't do for the Ricoh would have been cheaper.
