Not taking sides here, but could it be that TM had an informal interview, but not an official one?

Quite often the truth is somewhere in between two polarised sides.

No as there is no such thing - oh and last week Stubbs was declared as the preferred choice.

Managers don't toddle off and do that - they get the job or they don't.

What is the difference anyway? Stubbs isn't having an interview is he - he's being offered the job.

Or he had a formal interview but it suited all parties to deny it;

Or he had no interview but it suited someone at Rotherham to wind up their sponsor;

Or the Shitfields hating sponsor wanted to wind up Tim Fisher.

Many possible scenarios.
discuss with you the facts around this TM/ RUFC saga

Think it's safe to say we'd all like this however?

I'm not having a go you gobshite :)

Just saying, if he's here when we kick of the new season, let's just enjoy the season and see if he can deliver this time around.

As much as you're saying he's off etc, there's no point worrying either way. He'll go if he wants. Just like players over the years, enjoy them whilst they're here, but don't expect them to stay.
When did I say TM was going? gobshite:)

See NW's post below.

Don't think you can be so certain, Grendel. Many scenarios possible.

Do you really believe that clubs ask permission to speak with their manager without speaking to the manager or his agent first. Dear oh dear!!! You really do need to get off your computer and get out more.
I expect you believe in Father Christmas as well

Jock Stein once said to me(Yes! Jock Stein)When I was at Raith, just before injury ended my career "The life of a footballer is a very short lived thing. Managers however, have a longevity where a good living can be had so anything you start you should do you best to finish" He was manager at Celtic for about 12-13 years and Scotland manager from the late 70's for approximately 7-8 years till he died at Ninian park in Cardiff in(I think 1985 or 86).... The essence of that is... "No Loyalty nowadays "

When you were at Raith did you play with a guy called Joe Hughes.

Dear Grendel
I hope you are enjoying yourself with all your aggresion and smart arse comments
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss with you the facts around this TM/ RUFC saga. On what basis are you such an expert on all things CCFC,football, how managers are recruited, agents etc etc.

Another expert !!!

Not really just going off the actual evidence. The club said no approach, no word from Rotherham either. Notice how when they approached Stubbs they made a statement saying that had done so. Anyway I'm not here to argue online, you're the one who said stated something that was not correct.

No I don't. However the Rotherham chairman stated he would not do that. He said that there are two managers employed he was interested in but would do it the proper way.

So basically what you are saying is this guy is a liar which is odd as he and his staff seem to have happily told even some bloke who sponsors a shirt that they were doing exactly what they are said they aren't.

Accusing someone of lying is very serious. I hope you have the facts in order.

Are you related to Neal? Or is there another reason why you've been religiously defending him on this thread?
No, I'm not related to Neal. I hate "Pack Mentality" (One reason I was told why the Telegraph forum closed down) as shown on this forum on a regular basis. All I'm going to say is truth will come out ;)

You don't have actual evidence though. The clubs denied it, but e.g. The Butts was denied Last year by the person announcing it this year. I think it is reasonable to suggest that some talking had already taken place - off the record - to suss out alternatives, but I, as you, don't have any "proof" - in my viewpoint - more than what a RUFC sponsor says. Fact is, Mowbray 1. Lives nearer to Rotherham than Cov and is unlikely to uproot his family to Cov, and 2. He has only 1 year left here anyway. I would think he is looking at alternatives, but is not desperate - yet. Let's enjoy any players he can convince to come here before he goes.

It's clear it didn't however hard you try.

They said last week Stubbs was their man from the off. They approached twice before they were allowed to approach.

As for Bawtryneil. Let's be honest - if he's public about his use on here it's fairly obvious what has actually happened - just in case Stubbs said no - let's spread some rumours which impacts the bookmaker, which creates some noise, which puts him in the frame without having to approach at all. As for inside track bookies don't . They are influenced purely by betting patterns - Pressley was a bookies favourite was he not?

Grendel,

I don't have to try hard to prove anything to you. But trust me, if you believe that no chairmen of any club has never worked his way on the phone to an agent or an employed manager without consent or knowledge of the individuals employer you are in a very sheltered world. Was this the case in this situation, i don't know, i'm not bothered, i just know it happens and it will never stop in the game.

Approached, tapped up or an agent sending feelers out in the game world over, is fact not fiction, that is why agents exist, they don't just pop up and say right deal time, i want this for my client!!. I could tell you individuals and tell you meetings i have been in where the phone will ring with managers wanting information on contracted players but not want to talk to the club until they know salary, bonuses and clauses in contracts. I know of managers walking into the club having interviews while at other clubs, i know of players at the training ground for 2 weeks nothing leaked by the players club, our club or in the press. Did these things happen, Yes, was it common knowledge,No. Why would it be, not positive for anyone for things to leak out.

ts life within the business i'm afraid, sad but true and nothing you or i can do about it. You either except it or decide that all clubs/chairmen are clean and tell the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. Or that anything is possible and everything is probable, without it leaking out to all and his mother to debate on forums. The company and surroundings i was in taught me the rules only apply when you get caught!!! everything else is smoke and mirrors that all play within the game.

It's like believing that clubs doing such questionable acts would inform their shirt sponsor first.

I'm sure tapping up does go on but how widespread can it be when no club that I can think of has ever complained about it? We know from this happening to us before that it does't need much money to be put on a candidate at this level for the odds to change a lot. There's every chance the CT picked the story up from here and bets were placed off the back of the forum post and CT reports.

Bottom line is, no-one has any 'facts' here necessarily. All we have is what is out in the public domain.

I have no reason to believe Neal, but then at the same time no reason to disbelieve him. I don't know the bloke personally so am unable to vouch for him. All we do know is that tapping up does go on, even if it is just on an informal basis.
