Can't help thinking this is some kind of joke.

Even that is sponsored by Wasps. I know it has been mentioned before, but with the recent goings on, it seems even more hypocritical.

Wasps are without doubt the wrong choice.

If something is to back Coventry it has to be a company or organisation that is intrinsically Coventry and has Coventry in its soul.
It is very ironic really.

How do WASPS get linked with the BID? It is an organisation funded by City Centre businesses with a view to receiving support and promoting them. Should be CRFC not WASPS

Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) is a partnership between the businesses located within the city centre and Coventry City Council. All parties vote on and contribute financially to projects aimed at promoting, developing and elevating Coventry City Centre as a place to work, visit and do business. Projects range from additional marketing of the city centre through to deep cleansing of the city centre. All projects delivered must be clearly over and above the services businesses would ordinarily expect to be provided by the council.

They have paid for the privilege.

Shocking, absolutely shocking how Wasps have waltzed in and took over.
I firmly believe what comes around goes around and they will get their cumuppence and this project of there's will go tits up.
How a business can survive on ten home games a season, plus cup games without them taking more some big necessary risks in the future which will hopefully go badly wrong, seeing an end to them needing them fucking off to some other city

Aside the very nauseating interference from that London/Home counties rugby club, if a hovel like Hull can be awarded 'City of culture' then it is clearly evident anyone can.

Funny thing is Hull got it while their owners were trying to change the name of their club to Hull Tigers against the wishes of their supporters so I guess football issues don't count.
You're forgetting, Government and political parties when conducting listening exercises only listen to the views which correspond to their own. I am amazed people haven't came out onto the streets yet over Greater Birmingham, Sky Blues, Woodlands School, the cuts in Public Services by the 'local' Labour party etc.

If they did you would sure see changes almost immediately.

What would people here at SBT views have been if SISU had sponsored it?

Sorry, I meant more people here at SBT - obviously it's possible your reply would be the same but didn't specify this in the original post (which I've now edited).

I for one would be looking as to why. Possibly wait until it won then move it to Northampton? Seriously though when have SISU put anything into the community of Coventry and Warwickshire? WASPs may not of originated here, neither did Jaguar, but they do seem to be intent on putting very firm roots here. We either need to work with them openly, not he said she said like we get now, or do something to cut the ties completely.

And that's why it was turned to sisu, good work :)

Yeah, up roar.

What are you trying to get at? :)

I'm trying to understand why people have such issue with this.

The bid needs money behind it and Ricoh/Wasps were willing to put that forward.

If it's back slapping and Wasps trying to curry favour, then from a business perspective doesn't that make sense.

Who should it have been? I know some have scoffed at the notion of Cov being City of Culture but it has the potential of bringing money into the area, so isn't that a good thing.

I'm also not sure why this is in the CCFC forum - just an observation, as don't see how this specific matter impacts on the club, even more so if people wouldn't have been supportive of SISU sponsoring it.

There's also the fact I love Wasps! ;)

Why are you comparing a hedge fund withe a sports club? Ccfc have put a lot into the community over the years and continue to do so

pretty sure you can see the irony of something celebrating Coventry s culture being sponsored by a sports team which very much aren't part of it?

It would have been like us sponsoring Northampton s while we were there.

It's quite obvious really isn't it?

Sponsorship facilitates the project being progressed, this isn't something Wasps are doing off their own back.

You'd rather money wasn't potentially brought into the area based simply on the fact of who's sponsoring the bid?

What about if British Telecom or Coca Cola for example had been sponsor, would your position have been the same?

Who do you think should have sponsored it?

They are very happy to establish roots here if it means they spend other people's money.

I'm pretty sure there would have been alternatives.

What links do bt have to the city culture wise?
