I am hoping that Vincelot has gone to bring Gael back on a perm. He will be better than Fleck and Vince in one season. He was brilliant the last couple of games of the season, his passing was a joy, his energy was impressive and he was niggly and was snapping at opponents ankles. Clearly TM's advice and it was working.

Mowbray says he sold Vincelot so the club can build, that must mean replacing him with someone younger with good potential....?

I really hope Gael comes back. Any fans that have a decent football brain can see that he still has a lot of potential to be unlocked. I for one would be delighted

It is too early for this :(

It is too early Nick, but I happen to agree with the OP. When he first came back to us he was abysmal really but tbf he hasn't played competitive football for 4 years. He was bound to be rusty. He has improved technically and his performances at the end of the season were great. He is younger and fitter just needs to add game awareness and tackling and he will be decent. A good player at league 1 and not cost a fortune.

Lol people complain about bargain basement dross and then hope we sign a player no other club in this division would touch with a barge pole.

What I don't get is if he was signing why wasn't it done at the start so he could get a full pre season with us to battle that rustiness?

If Newcastle aren't fussed about him and we want him, he should have ended his contract by mutual consent back in June so he was a free agent so he could get a full pre season with friendlies etc.

I think he has another year on his contract doesn't he? So that will need to be sorted, then he has to come down from what he was on before to 1.5 - 2k a week.

I feel there's still a good player in him somewhere. It doesn't just disappear. Had a horrible time away from football and like King said he's hardly played any of note for some time. He's well worth a contract. Even if it's just until Christmas with a clause where it's extended if he plays X games.

He needs paying off so he can get a contract with very low wages as it's his only chance of continuing a professional career.

We'd have been better off keeping Conor Thomas.

But then why would he do that if he has a year on his contract at Newcastle on say 15k to get a 3 month contract on 1-2k a week max.

Yeah very true. Perhaps he won't sign and I get why some people are dodgy about him. But at the end of the day we lost our first choice centre mids to rival clubs because they offered a lot more in wages meaning we can't compete with them. We have to be more creative and bigi can be a little gem but yes agreed a pre season with mowbray would of been great all round.

Bigiriamma will be okay, I think he will be a season long loan. Why not ? Our midfield was basically crap last season and I know Bigi was part of it at times but not that much, we have more or less a totally different middle of the park this year so on a loan basis I don't see a big problem

I think we should get him in.
Saw enough in him , when fleck was banned , to tell me he can run a midfield

Besides that , we won't be getting a premier league experienced midfield player from anywhere else

We did once have a premier league striker - Simeon Jackson who actually had played in the Premier League.

Depends on wages for me. If we can get him without him costing much then he might be worth a shot, I'd go with Mowbray's judgement on that. Don't think he's worth signing if he's going to be one of our bigger earners.

When people say "the talent can't disappear" I genuinely never saw the talent to begin with. He won the FA young player accolade I think because of his romantic story and Newcastle jumped in and took a gamble of him. Having said that, if he was cheap enough he'd be an adequate squad player at this level filling in a few games a season for injuries and suspensions but he is not a replacement for Vincelot.

I'll say it, seeing that no-one else will, he's fucking shit. He angers me every time he passes back the ball because that is all the headless twat can do.

You will not even find 20 people in this forum who would be happy to take that twat back.

Gael if you ever read SBT, take this as advice, give up football, move into hair dressing, stop stealing a wage and earn your money properly like most other immigrants do in this country.

So you compared him to one the best midfielders chelsea have ever had instead?

No, I compared him to an actual experienced premier league midfielder. The first one I could think of.

13 games for Newcastle in a few years is hardly calling for a testimonial.

Not sure how I feel about Gael. On one hand I'd love to see him come back and re-launch his career with us. Yes he put in some good shifts towards the end of the season however he didn't exactly set the world on fire. If we can get him on a free and his wages aren't stupid he'll be worth the gamble, not worth a fee though. Too much of a risk for a fee.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat. A few games under his belt and completely match-fit, he'd be one of the best midfielders in this division.

People who cannot see his ability and potential do not understand football and should start following rounders instead.

Are you having a laugh? We need to move on from these jokers like we did with Aaron Philips and Connor Thomas

You're absolutely, and positively, on drugs.
