Looks like we made £5k prize money last night
How Much A Team Can Make In Capital One Cup ?:
- 45% gate receipt for every home away match from Round 1 to Wembley Final
- Part of broadcasting money to teams whos matches shown live on UK Time
- £100,000 for the winner of Capital One Cup
- £50,000 for the runnerups.
- Europa League place for the winners or runner ups (in case winners qualified throught league system)
The prize money starts from the round 1 matches and it goes like that. FA will give winners of round 1 ties £5,000, round 2 winners get £7,000, winners of round 3 get £10,000, round 4 winners pocket £15,000 and semifinals winners get £25,000.
But the biggest chunk of the money comes from the gates receipts as Each finalist gets 45% of the wembley final ticket money. Last year when Bradford reach final they made around £1million in gate receipts and television cash. Chelsea and Tottenham pulled more crowd and higher TV money and both teams should have made a little over £1 million each from the final appearance in capital One Cup.
The sharing of gate receipts start from the first round matches every matches gate reciept is shared 45% each
between both home and away clubs while 10% goes to FA. That is why some time lower league teams are over joyed when they draw a top premier league side away. MK Dones defeated Manchester United in the early rounds of capital one cup this season and they got around £1.7 million shared in gate receipts of old trafford.
So a good run of results for a lower league side in the Capital One Cup can bring them good results and if they can turn the odds win the cup they can also get a place in Europa League.
That is why Premier League teams dont take the cup seriously and mostly give chance to fringe players in the cup run and who can blame them, The survival in premier league will earn a team at least £65 million and it will jump to in the region of £100 million from
2016-17 season with new tv rights deal for premier league
