This whole Telegraph press campaign reeks of them knowing something that most don't. Give it a couple of weeks and SISU agree to sell they will be praised to high heaven that they forced SISUs hand.

Totally agree.
Amazing how all the stuff concerning Ryton has only just come out now.
I bet the Telegraph have known for ages, but were too close to the club to publish.
Either way, I don't give a shit as long as something changes.

It's definitely starting to feel that way if you start to piece things together. Fingers crossed Sisu think that the sale of Ryton for houses will bring in enough money to satisfy their investors so they leave and we can start again.

Reading between the lines of a few articles (including one about extra land being bought by wasps near the highs centre) I wouldn't be surprised if wasps launched a takeover bid and moved us to the Higgs centre too

Like others have said. Something is Brewing. The Telegraph have been quiet for a while and their sudden campaign seems way too contrived for me.
Lets hope there is something positive. Nobody wants our current owners but there has been no other option on the table.

the training ground stuff came out because it was in the RBC plan published last week.

Correct. Too many conspiracy theorists trying to look beyond the obvious.

Ditto the Telegraph piece might be motivated by us rooting ourselves to the bottom of the third tier of the football league, and our latest director - something like the 14th under SISU - responding by pinning his ears back and heading for the exit door

Well lets be really optimistic!! The reason Chris Anderson left is he has done all the work he can do. In his 12 months he has put a case together for our owners to show them that they should sell for 30 million. He has also put together a case to Wasp owners to show that by buying CCFC for 30million, combining as many of the facilities as possible they will be able to effectively have recouped their money in no time at all. In addition they have all agreed to negotiate together for a new stadium sponsor for £30 million and the council have agreed that they will work tirelessly to help both CCFC and Wasps become European champions in their respective sports within the next 5 years.

There you go now you all feel better, ready for the weekend and the trip to Gillingham to provide us with further good news !! 3 points Onwards and upwards

You do feel like things are starting to come to a head, but this mood may all peter out (especially if we win tomorrow).

On a separate note, does anyone else remember the line from the club/SISU around 2011 when they kept saying they were looking for new investors to "share the load" - that was around the time of Clouting and Igwe being at the club. Fisher arrived and that whole narrative was dropped in favour of the attempt to crowbar the stadium away from the council.

Things moving in some way has nothing to do with the Telegraphs campaign or the league position of the club. Their campaign has 'gone live' on the back of them getting wind that something is happening with the owners. There will no doubt be a story along the lines of 'it was us that did it' should sisu leave. The Telegraph are just trying to curry favour in the hope that they sell more papers later on.

You could be right, they've never really stuck their neck out this far before. They've always been content - since Gilbert has been there - to bash CCFC, but having a go at SISU in this manner is a first.

If the CT knew something about potential owners/investors they'd be printing it to the moon. Every day there'd be a headline about "new saviours".
The last time someone wanted to buy City, the Telegraph scared them off by naming them in the paper!

Massive gamble knowing full well they would lose access to the club though?

You're correct. Must be something going on.

Personally this is slightly worrying but also very exciting. We could be approaching the the start of city's rise again. Fingers crossed.

I know everyone hopes something is going to happen and that SISU will be on their way but what has actually changed. So some thoughts.

- They are seeking planning permission on Ryton and a proposal is included in the RBC 15 year plan - so hardly imminent so no sale soon planning could take many months/years

- They are apparently looking to be a tenant at BPA which hasn't even started to be developed - again not imminent but have a plan forward

- the Academy is under threat but apparently discussions were constructive and positive - still time to save the Academy if they want to

- We still have agreement to play at Ricoh until end of 2017/18 season - so pressing but not urgent. I doubt Wasps would actually kick us out so long as it doesn't cost them to have us there. PR aspect of kicking CCFC out would be very negative

- There is a petition that has in 3 days reached short of 13000 signatures nationally - the owners are so remote from the situation will it really affect them (that is not me saying we should do nothing btw I signed the first day). Have the CT in part used the fans unrest at poor results and built on it? Is it based on something going on in the background about changing ownership or is it something else say of a legal nature, or just plain old selling papers

- This squeeze being put on SISU is really primarily on CCFC hoping to squeeze SISU - but if SISU as I suspect have taken a lot of the losses on investment what more is there to lose if they are not putting any new money in

- does/can the stuff about the Academy, Ryton, BPA get spun in a certain way to convince the FL & FA that the club and owners are doing all they can but keep being blocked, that the fans don't understand what SISU have had to put up with - so keep pressure from regulators off

The thing that will really make the difference and create pressure for CCFC is continuing to fail on the pitch and I can not wish for that. That restricts CCFC income, but would CCFC going bust be that great a worry to SISU?

In reality what pressure is there on SISU that they feel, or makes them uncomfortable.

Got to keep an open mind - not just jump at the assumption regime change is near. Reality is little has actually changed, certainly SISU's objectives haven't. Is their driver the club or their investment/money? it isn't the club I feel

Completely hear and read your post OSB but in my opinion I go opposite and say actually a lot has changed actually.

Within a week, a petition has got almost 13k plainly for the owners to piss off. CT have been banned from the biggest sports team in the city they report on. Every article is now aimed at the owners and puts them more and more in a bad light. No really football news now. Our last asset is actively looking at getting shot of.

Not saying I'm right and far from it but a lot has changed within a week. Most notably a city campaign against the owners full view.

has their (SISU) bank balance changed the clubs may have but if owners not putting more in how has theirs ccfcway?

i hear what you say Kingokings but where do they take it after the petition dies down, where do they take their campaign in say a months time, when say results have hopefully improved and there is nothing else to come out? Aside from repeating stuff that ultimately people say oh not again what is next because if there is nothing else nothing has changed.

The key to making it harder for SISU and to keeping fans campaigning looks very much like failure on the pitch. If as many suspect CCFC is a tool for other purposes for SISU then do they care?

Just worrying out loud to be honest :)

Past evidence suggests a contrary response anyway. Being told 'you must sell' will result in them digging their heels in.

Now by that I don't mean that people shouldn't say 'you must sell' because, well... it's kind of stating the obvious. I don't think they'd care about 13,000 on a petition mind you... nor even 100,000 for that matter. 100,000 might get a bit of awareness going though and start a snowball to, if not remove SISU, at least give hope that there's a spot of passion or a desire for there to be something post-SISU.

Awareness of our existence is no bad thing.

While my preference is always for business not to be done through the press this is a rare occasion where it would make sense. Any potential new owner, with even a vague hint of credibility, would be welcomed with open arms. Surely knowing there was someone to take over and getting rid of SISU didn't risk the end of CCFC would massively help the CT campaign. The fact that we've not even heard a rumour and the CT are not responding to any questions regarding potential new owners indicates to me there's nobody waiting in the wings to save us.

Exactly this. Prospective new owners would only HELP the CT campaign. They gain nothing from keeping any potential new investors hidden.

Think back to how often Preston Haskell, Gary Hoffman etc were in the papers. Day after day the Telegraph would talk about them and who their investors were - because it sells more papers. Not a single part of me thinks that the CT would willingly keep sales down to protect an investor's identity.

Feels like something is happening, I'm not sure it's anything good though.

I'd go along with this sentiment; as a collective, we know something's happening, but it cannot be good given SISU's track record.

Why won't wasps kick us out? Wasps will do whatever CCC ask them so then in the future wasps can cash in the favour when they need the council's help.

As for the negative PR, you're joking right? All they have to do is lie and say we wanted CCFC to stay but they decided to leave. People will lap it up and the wasps telegraph and local press will all back up the Wasps version of events.

Nothing much has changed recently apart from some body giving an order at the telegraph isn't it?

If we were top 6 would it happen? Even with same politics.

There's a lot more to the recent goings on

If you were a possible investor surely you would sit tight and wait because SUSI are devaluing their asset? even more ever day They will I think decide to sell if only the pressure is kept up Hopefully. Henry Winter could make it go nationwide.
