Of course it should be followed. The British electorate have voted and the will of the majority should be followed.

Tell that to your MP because the law is that parliament decides at the end of the day. The British electorate decides who represents them in parliament.

So. Let's hope we have an election to decide how we go forward.

Apparently the Mail is on about one of the judges being gay. What has that got to do with anything? Does that give May the right to bypass parliament? The kipper Facebook comments include such things as 'rich bitch' referring to the woman who brought the case forward. These are the people who claim that the 'people' have spoken. Not my people. I distance myself from comments and reports in the Mail, the Express and the Sun.... these papers are disgusting ( Telegraph is not much better ). I distance myself from the dumb bastards on the UKIP site. I am British, but have nothing other than that to do with these wankers. They do not understand our history and what was actually fought for. The civil war established parliamentary sovereignty at a huge cost of life. Now these dickheads want to do away with parts of the judiciary who confirmed that parliament has sovereignty.

Grow up ffs.

Yes he's openly gay. So what? Have you got a problem with that? Is a paper not allowed to mention it?

The four newspapers you mention represent approximately 70% of UK national daily newspaper sales yet you sit in Germany of all places and call them disgusting. You label UKIP supporters as 'dumb bastards, wankers and dickheads'.

Why all the bile?

Is it because they do not share your opinion?

Or is it because like your friends the lefty Metropolitan Elite, you believe you know what's best for them?

You clearly have a very low opinion of the great British people.

"Germany off all places"
Lefty metropolitan elite"
"Great British people"

Your views are disgusting. The German people are far more tolerant because they know exactly what happens when people like you have power. This country is descending to bigotry and it worries me what might become of this once great nation that lead the charge against sick right wing ideologies.

It makes part of me want to leave the eu, see who you have to blame when you can't take it out on Eu migrants. What will it be then, the Irish? Black people? Poor people? Jews?

So the government are going to appeal this to the supreme court. If that fails will it be of to the European courts? The irony if they did. Presumably if they did and the UK courts decision is overturned by the European courts the brexit camp won't recognise the decision?

They don't recognize the U.K. Courts' decisions when they don't like them.

No it won't go there at all. Parliament will vote to let the government decide the terms and that will be that.

It's slightly embarrassing for May but she should just table the motion now and if it is rejected then force an election.

The Labour Party will vote for it anyway. Regarding the terms of exit the government is correct that we need to have full control of border policy as that was a key for many people

I hope it goes to Parliament and I hope the Marxist idiot informs her Scots to vote against the will of the U.K. People.

Then she should isolate them and invoke a bill that allows them no say in non Scottish policies. She should also stop preferential rebate funding to Scotland immediately and declare this is a consequence of the Marxists actions.

Indeed.

It's all ridiculous posturing isn't it. The time spent doing this could have the blasted thing through parliament, rather than waiting.

Let's hope the appeal isn't heard by any blacks or transsexuals eh...

You seem to be promoting and advocating what can only be described as an enabling act while showing what can only be described hatred for Marxism. Have you ever considered yourself to be a Nazi? Because you're certainly using nazi ideology and it was the Enabling Act of 1933 in Germany that paved the way for Hitler to become a dictator. You're skating on very thin Nazi ice here.

No, you shouldn't worry because, if as people here claim, the whole country of 17 million is behind you, parliament will push Brexit through...

That's the point I just made. I'm not worried but the news link posted clearly says clegg wants to delay and derail brexit.

Nick clegg - the king of democracy.

The enabling act was passed after the Reichstag fire - that was suspicious anyway.

We still have the judiciary to make sure that something like that doesn't happen.

You have to question the motives of people who want to remove the 'brakes' from our system.

The judges have stopped May bypassing parliament.

The Tories have a majority in parliament, so I don't see why May doesn't just accept the ruling and get on with using the Tory whip to give her the power to negotiate and to enact article 50.

Or are they scared of their own party?

Can Judge Rinder do it after strictly, is it just me or can anyone else feel the country ripping itself to pieces over this issue. FWIW I like my Brexit hard with a salad and soft with soldiers.

Such as...?

Poll Tax, Bedroom Tax, withdrawal of sickness benefits from people with terminal illnesses, arbitrary raising of the state retirement age, anti-union laws, fracking.

I'm sure various campaigners can give you a lot more examples of where the courts rolled over and played dead for the government but on this one issue it appears they decided to make a stand against them.

Oh dear, hapless Cleggy does it again.

Reveals his true motives to enable 100+ unelected Lefty Liberal Lords to determine and dictate what ‘Brexit’ really means:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-37869961

What a despicable shower the Liberal Democrats are.

A lot of their policies I agree with, but 2nd referendum & remaining really I don't in spades. Does anybody else find the same thing with political parties, even with the party that is closest to your point of view you can only get onside with 60-70% of their policies? In my view party politics is broken, we need to break it down somehow to allow the policy set approved by the majority to prevail. How we can do this I'm not clear, especially as I've had a beer or 2 this afternoon :p but I am sure modern technology and analysis techniques allow us to improve upon today's means of selecting the government. Love to hear a credible proposal from someone (I don't really mean from this forum, though why not guys if you think you have a jolly good idea, I mean from a serious think tank).

I think all the things you've listed were able to happen because they were bills that passed through parliament. In other words our elected MP's voted to pass them as is the British democracy system. The courts have been involved because the government are looking to bypass this and act without a bill being passed. It's not the British way and hasn't been since the English civil war I believe.

Which ones were passed using a royal prerogative? The issue here is not Brexit, but whether the government can use something from the Middle Ages to bypass parliament.

The answer is no and rightly so.

raises an interesting point. should this not be a free vote to allow MPs to vote in line with their constituents?
That's 3 votes to leave from Coventry MPs then. :p
http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/eu-referendum-find-out-how-11517468
The city polled 85,097 Leave votes and 67,967 for Remain in a turnout of 69 per cent at yesterday’s historic referendum. All of Coventry and Warwickshire voted for Brexit - with the exception of Warwick.

As I've said before, it would be interesting to see how different parts of the country fared in and out of the single market if different parts were given greater autonomy and could decide to remain within it.

Just think how much the 'Brexit Boom' could turn the worst deprived parts of the country into powerhouses. After all, it wouldn't be long unti businesses within the EU and frI'm around the world flocked to the country to take advantage!

Probably the dumbest thing you've ever said since declaring your love for Nigel Farage and UKIP and insisting they were not a racist party.

I'm not even entertaining your tripe.

Still don't worry. The classic euriphile Nicholas Clegg a man who single handedly managed to destroy a political party is on the case telling the 103 unelected (other than by him) liberals in an unelected chamber to block the will of the people.

I think you'll find in terms of democracy and freedom of expression dictators would far more side with the euriphile Nicholas Clegg than me.

Ha ha. Everything I described is factual. You are talking about an enabling act and it is an enabling act that paved the way for Nazi dictatorship in Germany. You also clearly have an issue with Marxism, again something in common with the Nazi party.

As for my love of Farage, don't make me laugh. I've explained to you numerous times that it was a one off in the European elections ahead of Cameron's attempted negotiations with the EU. A warning shot if you like. I usually vote Greens in the European elections if you must know.

I ally myself with people against the disgusting reporting in the Express, Mail and Sun, and the dumbfucks on the UKIP Facebook site screaming about rich bitches, gay judges and enemies of the people.

Even the conservatives now want May to distance herself from this scum. Sir Ernie asked me why the bile? I am by no means alone in condemning the shit pouring out of the leavers' mouths and the hatred from people such as yourself.

It is simple- this country has been plunged into a constitutional crisis by Brexit and the newspaper owners are whipping up the masses.

Sickboy is right to be pissed off with post Brexit referendum Britain and I am with him all the way.

The judges were right to slap May down for digging up royal prerogative.

The next problem is the Lords. What a mess. Brexiteers on about being against unelected representatives in the EU. Even the EU hasn't gone as far as having a House of Lords or Royal Prerogative from the Middle Ages.

Britain needs reforming, but thank god for the High Court. It stopped May setting a precedent.
