Heard about it on 5Live and it just simply wasn't funny. They had Peter Thatchall on and he was just bemused when asked to comment.

They are twats, all three of them. I really have zero interest in them or their programme. Just a publicity stunt, I would say. Cause a bit of shock and controversy and hope more people sign up to watch it. I have Prime and it is the last programme I would watch.

Never ever watched Top Gear or the new effort. Didn't know much at all about Hammond, but had always disliked Clarkson on every chat show or appearance as host he had made.
Been linked many times, but my attention was drawn to the trio and to Hammond in particular when Stuart Lee did that stand up skit on Top Gear. Bloody brilliant and he especially has a go at Hammond.

I see that there are a lot of comments made by people who don't care or have never watched their programs.
Top gear was seen as a car program. But cars was the excuse. Otherwise always having cars that hardly anyone could afford would fail. No matter what anyone says Top Gear was by far the biggest money maker for the BBC. That is why Clarkson got away with so much.
It was about 3 blokes having a laugh. 3 blokes taking the piss out of the establishment. The problem was that Clarkson got too big for his boots. And sometimes they got their jokes badly wrong. Top program as long as you wasn't looking for a car show.

I've watched some Astute, and sometimes they are amusing. The problem for me is that, as you say, the jokes go badly wrong. And whilst it's true that all jokes must have some kind of victim, their "jokes" are often thinly veiled attacks on people because of their race or sexuality. So unfortunately I concluded they are a bunch of knobs.

Have to admit that Clarkson was my guilty pleasure. He's completely opposed to me politically, but he's actually quite sharp, and insightful when he wants to be, and can sum up issues in few words. I also find him quite funny and self deprecating.
The problem is, of course, the publicity stunts which sometimes cross the line into crassness... was absolutely convinced the Top Gear sacking was a publicity stunt until he was actually sacked... and still not entirely sure it wasn't set up so at least he could leave giving publicity to Top Gear *and* his new programme!
Hammond seems pointless however... but May must have something about him to do this.

That I did find bizarre. Whether I enjoy his programmes or not, no excuses for that.
But, as I said, still not entirely convinced it wasn't all a set-up as he was leaving anyway, to ensure both programmes got maximum hype!

I always thought the three guys on Top Gear were stupid prats and the lead guy the biggest prat of all. I enjoyed watching some episodes of the show but despite them, not because of them.
There was one episode where they totally destroyed a couple of antique cars for 'fun' - that I thought was totally absurd and something that a genuine car lover would never do.

I'm on your wavelength on this. I always enjoyed top gear, and enjoyed bits of grand tour, but not enough of it to consider it good. Far to many naff parts for me. Actually preferred Chris Evans version of top gear more than GT.

I like Top Gear (The one before Chris Evans) and find all three of them work brilliantly together, with some hilarious moments. Ironically, I hate cars/motor "sports" unless it involves me personally driving them. I don't get watching a small portion of a Scalextric track going round and round...
I haven't watched the new TG or The Grand Tour (is that was it's called?) so can't really comment.
Regards this, you can see Hammond squirm his way to some sort of point, as I think it was more an outburst hoping for a quick laugh, rather than expecting to be questioned on it.
