Been a reader of this forum for a while. Prompted to post by some of the crazy talk on here trying to blame ACL. I grew up watching football on the terraces, but (for my sins) now work for a hedge fund.

Recall: SISU is a distressed debt hedge fund.

Hedge funds are run by elite financiers whose only goal is to make as much money as possible for their investors, and by proxy, for themselves. This is capitalism at the sharp end.

Distressed debt funds buy up companies that are having problems as cheaply as possible, then attempt to re-organise the operations and debts to maximise their profit. This is sometimes by managing the company to be more effective, equally often it is by a process of creative (but legal) accounting and clever use of bankruptcy law.

For a beginners guide watch "Pretty Woman".

In my opinion, SISU have no intrinsic interest in making the football club successful, or making the fans happy. It is just one more trade for their books. The decisions being made by SISU are being made in an executive office in Mayfair. The people making them are paid millions a year, live in London, and I suspect have no empathy with the average football fan. They do not stand on the terraces. They do not buy the shirt. They do not sing along. And I doubt they really understand what the club means to the community. Even if they are nice people, and do care, I suggest it will have zero impact on their decisions on what to do next.

It is hard to know exactly what SISUs plan is to generate a return, but given football clubs at this level are generally net-zero (or loss-making) on cash-flow you have to assume it is a play for assets. For what it's worth, I think the plan has always been to pick up a stake in the stadium at a knock down price. Now that looks unlikely, SISU are running plan B. The structure of the companies, the decisions around negotiation, the choices on administration are all part of a strategy to maximise returns.

ACL, the council, the Inland Revenue, etc. have been dragged into a situation not of their making. Have they done the best thing? Hard to say. They are dealing with a sophisticated, rich, and motivated adversary - negotiating with such people is not the councils specialty.

Anyone who thinks that SISU is not the cause of the clubs current situation is in fantasy land. Do not get lost in the complexity of the companies and the bankruptcy law and the press releases. SISU are in the driving seat.

The best that can happen now is that SISU decide that running this trade is not worth the cost any more. At that point they will sell off the club to the next owner and the rebuilding can start.

The best the fans can do is protest like hell about SISUs ownership. Hedge funds do not want to be in the spotlight. In the meantime all the fans should get behind the manager and players in the hope that when the next owner comes in, there might just be something left to build on.

That was a cracking opening post by FGeek,
Quote; the best that could happen is SISU decide this trade isn't worth the cost anymore,
And sell it on for someone new to build it up again.
Oh well never mind:emoji_tired_face:

It's obvious that from 3 years ago the aim and still is for the club to break even and whilst that's the case and no money is input it buys time for JR2 and to sell off remaining players and ryton and then they shall go. Very clear.

It's even fairly clear what state our carcass is going to be in too. The only real uncertainity is how broken the fanbase has become and how unattached people have become from CCFC.

3 1/2 years on it seems the only thing that changed sisu's mind about anything was hardly anyone going to Northampton. So my conclusion is that next season if very few go to home games regardless of the division then they may change course in some way, whatever that maybe
We can only hope it is to sell up and finally realise it's not worth hanging onto and go.

And I would advocate the opposite, I believe that as many fans as possible should go to games and let the owners know they are not wanted.
All this NOPM is another excuse for 'I can't be bothered anymore".
If that is how it is, then fine but asking die hard Sky Blues supporters to abstain because you can't be bothered is not a strategy to get rid of the owners but a ploy to make you better about yourself for running away.
IMO the likes of you are insignificant to sisu and they dont know you exist.

Where's that come from that it changed their mind?

Do you think they realised 2 games into the new season after a year there nobody was going and rushed back urgently because of it?

I think from the recent Fisher interviews on radio it has proved that the fans are insignificant to SISU no matter who walks through the turnstiles. Its a shame that we have been talking about the same topic for the last 3 1/2 years and nothing has changed!
We need to know SISU's breaking point of when they want to cut the club loose, I would assume this would be once they have closed down any final view of legal action but that could be another year at least!!

Footygeek sums up the situation perfectly.

To be honest the football authorities need to look at whether Hedge Funds are appropriate owners of football clubs.

What Sisu are doing is essentially what the appalling Philip Green and his nasty wife did to BHS.
They gradually stripped most of the assets from BHS and took huge dividends while loading the company with debt
Then to try to escape liability or reputational damage they sold off the husk of BHS to an even more dodgy individual for £1
He was a serial bankrupt and complete incompetent who was only interested in ripping as much money out as he could before it went bust

No, where did I ask others not to go and I don't need an excuse as I still go, but I won't bother next year enough is enough! I don't need a ploy either as I won't be feeling guilty about it.
As for your ingenious idea lets get as many n there to let our owners know they are not wanted . FFS don't you think they already know that! They don't give a shit until they have to put some money in.

No they were hoping results would weaken the fans and we would eventually go

Cloughie, Aimed at NOPM!
NOPM is not a solution, its is only adding to the downward spiral and I fear for the club and I don't mean the league position.
NOPM is like not voting in a general election and complaining about the outcome.
You said that "so my conclusion is that next season if very few go to home games regardless of the division then they may change course in some way, whatever that maybe"
What if the outcome is that the club doesn't exist any more? is that the outcome that true supporters of Coventry City want?
I want the owners to go and I would like it sooner than later but I want our club to survive so much more than I want the owners to go.

I agree with your rationale. From my own POV, it boils down to whether I think the club is doomed anyway, and whether I want it over with quickly or not.

Personally I think it is doomed regardless... but I could never ask others to stop watching them. That's an utterly stupid position to take, IMNSHO, and is naive in the extreme to expect everyone to listen and, even more, to agree with the view that the club's doomed anyway.

So, based on that, NOPM seems crazy. Plus I'll still go now and again, anyway, but I'm definitely in the can't be arsed camp. I agree with you... so are most other people.

And that in itself isn't surprising, given our league form. Gates aren't that awful considering where we are, really.

not consciously nopm - but after season ticket expires. they will need to sell the product to me -
That doesnt mean winning the league by 20 points - it just means real ambition and hope

without any evidence of that I may go occasionally, but not 25-30 times a season as I have for most of the last 45 years

A VERY GOOD POINT.

JOY SEPPALA should be the target. Not SISU alone and certainly not Fisher.

The flags and banners should read

JOY SEPPALA AND SISU OUT

She will not like that one little bit. Until now she has very successfully pulled all the strings without getting any of the spotlight on her.
