Rather sadly, I frequently play back the last 3 mins of the Preston game on my sky box. There have been some really enjoyable games since; in particular, some great away games. But the Preston game still stands out for me. (And dare I say, I am a Baker fan boy).
There are two 'buts', however, in how I feel about the current draw. Firstly, they've royally screwed up the competition. Second, whilst appreciating and fully recognising the excitement that others have for the semi-final (no more so than those with kids), for me it pails into insignificance given our current situation.
If you're a City fan then you've never expected too much. You're happy to go to games knowing that it might be a good day, it might be a shit day, but that in the scheme of the season there was a point: some success or, more usually, the fight against relegation.
As is right now, not only can you expect us to lose (possibly horribly) each week, but it's February and there's no league position to fight for: we're down. And down not in the manner of the last game fight - the Keough the hero gets a standing ovation when sent off - down, but the "they think it's all over, it is now" manner, at the start of fishing February. Anybody who thinks for a minute that we're not down is heroic, and I salute you.
I'm not going to the semi, couldn't care less about the outcome; and I, along with the 3 others, aren't even going Saturday.
Well done you lot for keeping the faith.

I don't think many are bothered tbh. A Checkertrade final? It just confirms to a lot of people how far we have slipped. Even winning a largely pointless trophy has little interest to the over 30's crowd who are in despair at our plight. If you offered me staying up at the price of this mickey mouse trophy I'd snatch your hand off.
People are expecting defeat. If we get there then at least spirits will be better and everyone can have a day out at least. That's when interest will peak the fans interest but league survival and hope for another crack at the championship next season is what everyone wants no matter how unlikely that seems just now.

Nobody - and I mean nobody - expects a crack at the Championship next year - even if we stayed up. I'll take Wembley for now.

Ultimately, yes sisu are a bunch of wankers and we're in a shit situation with a poor squad. But those young lads out there need the support, their heads have dropped enough already this season with everything that's been going on. We all need to get behind them and give them some support and hopefully this will raise their heads and therefore their game. Realistically, with sisu around, going to wembley is the biggest thing these lads and us fans can dream of for the near future, even if it is a poor tournament.

I had a ST for 30 years, been going to most home games since 1970 until 2 and a half years ago when I started to go to the odd one? The fact i've not been up there since the Burton Game last season? Or the fact that I would not go to Wembley if they got there?

I think it's a combination of several things:
1. Even if we were to win, the celebrations would ring hollow due to our impending relegation.
2. Game being shown on Sky.
3. Many have decided not to go again until SISU leave

Live a long way away, but more it's the case that I do not care about this competition. If we get to Wembley I'll go for the day out, but if we lose at Wembley or lose at home to Wycombe, I will not give a damn. It's a meaningless competition as shown by the tiny crowds in the early rounds. I think it's strange to get excited about it when we're bottom of the flippin 3rd division. We shouldn't even be eligible for this poxy contest; we're a club of a size that should be upper Championship at worse.

The Wembley day out is more of an irritation to me. Off field events since the Crewe game may be a factor..

Okay, I'll stomach up and reply - 2) Was a Season Ticket holder at Highfield Road for 15 years, now, I've been to 3 games in the last 10 yrs and yes, one was the Crewe semifinal. I've pretty much relegated myself to a radio fan and even that is when I remember a game is on. I understand what Nick and the others are saying about supporting the team and the players but its a two way street. And as the club seem intent on distancing itself from its fanbase more and more, I have more fun ways of spending my time and money than supporting a club I used to commit to.

Remember that the club announce attendances assuming all season ticket holders turn up. Stay at home, go shopping, the club still counts you as being there. At least for league games anyway.

Just a question as you are someone whose posts I respect, when you say the end is nigh and all good things come to an end, do you mean for you personally or for literally for the club?
Perhaps people should wait until the night of the game before passing judgement. There may well be a surge in demand, and likely a big walk-up. Even if ultimately it is 'only' 15K, that is still very decent for this competition. It will be our biggest gate of the season by a mile, block 15 already almost sold out and it has been 2/3 empty all season. The atmosphere will be good, and hopefully a very enjoyable night.

Robins had turned things round and we had momentum, it was our first year in this competition so was a novelty, the run til that point had been fun with decent gates agaisnt SU and Preston, it was a fiver, it wasn't on the TV etc - and that's before you consider all the off field stuff. 15K will be a good effort, we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves.

My comment was intended from a personal point perspective but as more and more people think the way I do then the end will be nigh for the club in the football league. I see us getting relegated again next year
I would have considered myself a "die hard" fan up until Sixfields. Had a season ticket last year and this but never again until Fisher leaves the club. I have never met a more arrogant conceited man less suited to the job he supposedly gets employed to do.
