I'd guess building for League 2.

Yes, we will be an L2 team next season so it is sensible to plan for the inevitable.

A good appointment, manager's need a trusted number 2, this was probably Slade's downfall in some respect

What could this say about overall future plans by sisu ? Don't know contract details yet but obviously longer than end of the season. Something has obviously changed all of a sudden. Interesting there has been no comment as yet from our chairman.

Why start planning sensibly now given what's gone on this season???

This season is a write-off and nothing to do with Robins or Taylor. For once we seem to be planning for next season. Good news I would've thought but apparently not.

Says everything we all thought, Slade was only ever here short term. Kevin Nugent took the Barnet job weeks after the talk he was coming.
This all seems to sensible from the board, are we actually getting things in order ready to take on league two.
I hope MR has some assurances in place ready to press go come the summer.

I feel really good today about Robins coming back. I remember sat on a cold winters Tuesday night at Colchester when he was manager and we played the best I'd seen us for years . We won and looked so dangerous on the break, literally could have been a cricket score.
Yes he's a turncoat, and a hypocrite to come back, as no way are his working conditions better than three years ago, but I will forgive him if he wins the league next season.
If he thought we were in a mess last time he is in for one almighty shock when he finds what's it's like now.

Well he must be better than Slade.
But we don't have the same team we had back when he managed us before. We don't have anyone of the calibre of McGoldrick.
I just hope he can get the best out of the players we have.
Next season, I expect a completely new squad, so there wont be much 'building' on what we do for the rest of this season.

Reposting from the other thread. This is who is left for next season :

RCC
Addai, Maycock, Leahy, Shipley
Willis
Turnbull
Harries
Jones
Reid
Finch (maybe)
Stevenson
Sayoud
K Thomas
Beavon

I'd expect at least Willis and Stevenson to go from that lot. Leaves you with a base of:

???
??? Turnbull Harries ???
??? ???
Jones Beavon Reid
K Thomas

S: RCC, Leaghy, Maycock, Finch, ???, ???, ???

Addai, Shipley, Sayoud either not ready or will probably not have their contract extended. Maybe add Ponticelli who could be ready.

That's scarily threadbare. Underlines why Robbins needs to do his work early on to work out what/who he wants for next season.

Can we not let finch go too? I'll pay for someone to take him if he would command a fee. Free transport too :)

Last time around, Robins generally got what he wanted ie when it was clear that McGoldrich was going, somehow we had Clarke on loan almost made permanent before you could blink, although I suspect Steve Waggot was able to sort that out quickly with Charlton.
Robins also had a fitness coach last time around, and either he was very lucky with very few injuries or the fitness coach did a great job or a bit of both.

Wasn't it him who brought in Pete the cone man? He was fitness related wasn't he?

He's since moved onto run a business in a similar thing (fitness belts), not that I can see him coming back, but he'd be good to call upon?
