Hada bit of a bad thought what he might have planned for us.

So the mediation is a list of things he wants and everyone else involved are supposed to join in with the mediation. I can't see it getting us anywhere even if it does happen. Our contract to play at the Ricoh has one more season to go. And Wasps are refusing to talk until the legal action stops.

We are about to become a Division 4 side. Gates will be well down. But so will the player budget. It sounds like our budget will be about 8th highest in Division 4. So in other words not very high. So financially SISU will be OK.

Now the bad part. Nothing happens with the Butts. Kicked out of the Ricoh. Fisher goes to the FL to move us out of Coventry. The FL would probably agree with the move. And our budget would be so low that Fisher would expect about 3k of us again to travel to 'home' games. But what Fisher doesn't understand is there would be many less turning up this time.

Fisher isn't thick. But he certainly doesn't know what makes a football supporter tick.

I think Astute is spot on. The offer of mediation is conditional and SISU will not meet the conditions. But my thought is, where could they possibly move to? Warwickshire and Solihull would not entertain the notion because of the relationship with CCC. I can not think of a town that we could go and own a stadium with the exception of Rushden

I thought for a long time (4 years) that the strategy was to move to a large site near where the new HS2 interchange will be, this is north of the motorcycle museum & east of the airport & NEC. Fisher even gave the game away a few years ago when he talked about 9 miles from Coventry being OK & he was sure the EFL would agree, well bless my cotton socks 9 miles brings this site just into range.... I think they have been working on the EFL all this time to get them to agree.. wearing them down till they say OK. There is no doubt they will get investors for that scheme.. a bit like MK Dons did.

If something like that happens I'd hope the people on this forum who are vocal about the unacceptability of franchises will boycott the new ground.

To get back to the original post I don't think he is capable of thinking. The excerpt that has been shown from sky shows he is not a fit and proper person to be in charge of a football club. The league has said we must play in or around the city and that is not 9 miles away. The sooner he and Sisu leave the sooner the rebuild can begin. The feckless twats at the league should be putting pressure on him and the owners to stop fucking around with something that is an asset to their competition structure. Blokes a conceted, self absorbed prick that believes his own sound bites whilst blowing smoke up Joys arse.

it doesn't makes sense to me for them to do what Astute believes.
Surely moving the ground and club out the city then expecting all the fans to follow can not be justified. Like many if the club moves permanently to the outskirts of Brum then the club is dead, it no longer represents Coventry and it leaves a huge gap for a proper starter club to begin the rise up the leagues which would be followed by a huge majority of the original clubs fans.
Coventry is too big a city to have no league team, someone will start a club at the Ricoh the day after they move out the city, even if its at level eight
If it leaves permanently to Brum it s over for me, and I would guess thousands of others. He would have to telly on the area he chose the new ground to drop sticks and stop supporting their own clubs ,and start supporting this new club ,and look how long MK Dons have took to get to 9/10 000 crowds ,and many think that's the most they will ever get as MK the city is full of London clubs followers.
Wont happen, mind id never rule out what Fisher might do but doing this would be a disaster

Can see the logic with the rail and road links, but there is no guarantee people would travel (even if it is 9 miles) to justify someone being daft enough to put money into building a new stadium by the NEC. Only plus would be its the "package" to be sold on...though i'll be the NEC would have something to say. Taking possible non-footy events away from the Arena???

I would take a stab that, like so much of what's come out of his gob regarding owning or part owning our own stadium, its a smokescreen. Maybe the next step is to distress WASPS, like they tried with ACL, into getting the Ricoh on the cheap? Mediation would be a logial course, in so much as hey mr Football League softies, we tried to talk, they won't talk...so we're off to Northampton/Nuneaton somewhere else until they come round.

It also ignores the fact that the existence of HS2 will push up land values in that area, why on earth would an investor want to pay to build a football stadium for a club that is getting gates of 7k in its own city?

Depends what the financial logic is, if SISU obtain an asset in the transition which they can sell off at an overall profit but cripple the club's future development in the process will that bother Joy, I don't think so.

IMO short-term Nuneaton is likely and potentially the Butts all on short-term ;leases all with a view to getting back to the Ricoh on more favourable terms SISU won't be investing in anything long-term. 3,000 crowds at the Butts or Nuneaton may just allow us to stay in the 4th Div. Is all this smoke and mirrors preventing the stadium sponsorship at the Ricoh being finalised, there's a tactic /angle to this mediation, onr things for sure JR2 will be pursued

I can honestly see cov and Nuneaton merging together...there chairman is looking to sell, getting attendances as low as 500 with a bit of a spruce up you could get that ground to league standard

The ground is shared with the rugby club who have resorted to blocking off turnstiles and catering as they are in dispute with the football club. Dont think it would work to be fair.

I think Rushdens old ground was demolished last week. Sure I seen that somewhere.

What would it realistically cost to play somewhere else?
Thinking of timing here and the current whirlwind PR etc. (for next season).
I can't see them getting a cheaper deal overall anywhere than what it costs at the Ricoh.
If it were possible to reduce outgoings by say £200K, which I doubt, that may assist in maintaining a Cat 3 or 2 academy?
