It must be an age thing but stuff I used to dislike I now like. Take for example music I can now listen to bands like Mansun and Blur and enjoy them. I can drink green tea and gulp down bottled water, whereas I would never have bothered. I like a salad now and then and thought only vegetarians ate such food ? I watch the news most nights and have even sat through Question Time without turning it off or over. Anybody else the same ?

I used to hate mustard. Now I love it. I didn't like 90's dance at the time but I do now. My least favourite day of the week used to be my day off, now it's the other way round. I absolutely hate every day i'm in work. I used to love Strongbow, now I can't stand it. I used to need a piss a couple of times a day, now it's every half hour. Funny how things can change.

I used to love chips. I'd have them at least 2 or 3 times a week, but now I can't stand potatoes of any sort, roasted, mash or chipped. I'm even going off meat and quite happy to eat vegetables only, but I don't think I could be a full on vegetarian. I still like fish, mainly coz I catch my own - sea bass, mackerel, plaice etc. I still can't stand olives. I've tried them on a few occasions just to see if my taste buds have changed but URGH!! Oh, and mouldy bloody cheese! I will NEVER be able to eat that! Again, I keep trying nibbles but it just makes me want to heave! Give me a lovely cheddar any day!

Broccoli is one of the healthiest foods. But I used to hate it, nothing would make me eat it. But now I've developed a taste for it. I do spritz lemon juice on it though.
Another trick I have for it is to cut it criss-cross with a sharp knife until it's completely shredded. Then I mix it with rice. You can't even tell you are eating broccoli.

Always hated cheese, now love it - but not blue cheese still. My music tastes have also expanded; they played 'Ring My Bell' on radio 6 about a week ago and I enjoyed it!

We never had any fancy food when I was growing up and I discovered olives when I moved away at 18. Absolutely love them - my favourite food.

Garlic. Hated it when I was younger but love it now. Same with jazz.

Always hated jazz, always will. It's simply not musical. I think your brain neurons have to be wired in a certain way to like jazz, and mine aren't.

Jazz is bloody awful.

Unless in mags.

Not all jazz. I still don't like the stuff that sounds like it's being made up as they go along. There's some good stuff though. Miles Davis and an album I like by Tina Brooks, who is a man BTW.

I went to the Brecon jazz festival one year, hideous mistake. Saw some clarinetist / saxophonist regurgitate fart sounds for two hours.

I used to hate sports stars in their prime and when they come to the end of their career I avidly support them. What is that?

Prime example tiger woods..... couldn't stand it when he won everything and I hated the bloke and every week was a non contest now he hardly plays and hasn't won in ages I want him to win every tournament going.

How strange!

I went to a concert at my lads school last week (they have a newly formed orchestra, my lad chose the Oboe?) the five minutes of 8 -10 year old's tuning their instruments beforehand sounded like 99% of all the Jazz I have ever heard, in fact, it was probably more cohesive.

It's all about opinion DL, I like jazz personally.... nice. As far as the oboe it's a great instrument to stick with if the lad wants to make it as a professional - orchestras are always short of good players, or so my music teacher used to tell me. My advice to anyone with kids is to encourage them to play the piano, if nothing else it's very hard to play it out of tune. Violins lead to violence... :)

I agree, I am a music lover and I love music of all types, just because I don't like jazz personally I would never undermine someone that did. Music is all about subjectivity, that's the whole point, It's about how you feel when you hear something you like, the memories it evokes, IMHO there is no good and bad / right and wrong in music, if you like it you like it.

Has anyone listened to a band called Death In Vegas ?
A mate borrowed me a few CD's recently and one of their albums called The Contino Sessions was amongst them.Really like it and its not the sort of music I thought I'd listen to as its a mixture of electronic sounds etc. Then again a few tracks are pure rock !

par boiled then fried in butter, garlic and sea salt. Gorgeous and goes well with a host of different fishes and meats.

I have always had a truly intense hatred for all things gardening, however, my MIL gave me some hanging baskets and planters in about October last year (mud in pots), they are now, rather amazingly, filled with lovely flowers (i didn't even look at them the whole winter) I am now the master of all things hanging basket, I have become very protective of them and even bought specialist plant food, my neighbour commented how nice they are the other day and I convinced myself he was going to steal them, I have been coveting strawberry plants in Homebase.
