It's top 8 according to Fisher but that was before the season ticket gaff and anger.
To be honest it's pretty embarrassing as probably the biggest club in L2 in terms of name and stadium we will have an average budget.
If we don't get promoted next season we will just do what we did in L1.
The cash is going to have to be made available to Robins to get us out of L2.

Will be interesting to watch where the focus lays. Building a promotion squad or negotiating and organizing stadium to play in for 2018/19, academy and training facilities.
Obviously requires all above, busy times for our board of Directors. Requires great effort from a man who does it all for free. Think I will be impressed !

Why ? Leigh Burge suddenly looks a lot more confident is young and might just surprise us all. Since Robins has come in by and large he has played a settled defence in front of the keeper, we need a better but settled back four in my opinion.i'm not saying don't go out and get another goalkeeper but I think we have other priorities, Burge has really improved lately. Main thing needed imo is strikers and goal scorers to add to George Thomas, if he stays, not sure about Kwame Thomas. Not near enough goals coming from our forwards which puts pressure on our defence and subsequently our goalkeeper.

My opinion remains as it was about Burge in that he is an utter disaster. A few mediocre performances at this level won't change that and I can't forget his dismal contribution throughout the past few seasons. What was he doing for the charlton equalizer yesterday? In no man's land once more. How many of his kicks remain in play or meet their intended target, probably 10%?
Anyway, as you're probably aware by now I don't rate him ha.
Yeah I'm also torn about Kwame. He tends to spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch and I'm not confident that he is the man to go out and get us 20 goals. I'd certainly keep hold of Beavon, but get rid of Tudgay. I'm hoping Robins had a free reign to go out and tear up that squad, because despite their improved run of late, the majority haven't been good enough.
Of those to keep I'd currently say Willis, Stokes, Clarke, Turnbull (although anticipate Willis will be sold and Stokes will leave), Jones, Reid, Thomas, Bigi and Beavon. I imagine the starting XI on the starting day of next term will be very different to that which took the field yesterday.

Don't get me wrong we can improve on Burge but in my opinion goal scoring is the priority I think our top scorer is on 4, I haven't looked but I bet the own goal list is higher.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but George T, Willis & Ben Stevenson will all be gone, there will be cash bids and the club will need that to fund the ST short fall.
Burge will be number 1, there are bigger deficiencies to manager such as strikers who score goals and centre - halves who are tall enough to get on all the rides at Alton Towers.

You are properly correct regards those three perhaps not GT but certainly the other two. Frustrating but not too hard to replace. Will be interesting to see if even a small portion of any fee is aloud for team strengthening which might test the managers resolve.

He made a great assist for McGoldrick in Robins' first home win against Bournemouth.
I thought he was given a hard time by our fans (there's a surprise) He was big and strong and mobile with good feet and for a while was developing a good partnership with McG until Robins went with one up front.
Has scored 15 goals since November for Barwell and would be the type of player who would make a good addition in my opinion.

A big gap between Barwell and where we'd want to be. Would have thought someone bigger in non league would have had him by now if he was up to it? Travelled on a train with 2 York fans yesterday on my way back from London (they were on way to Solihull Moors). They have Jon Parkin in their ranks. CCFC's answer to Akinfenwa??

On the flipside he's also scored a few goals at Championship level.
From what I saw of him last time around (which was only glimpses) I would say he's worth a look at. Especially considering his goal record this season and the high regard that the Derby coaches held him in before his career took a bad turn.
He's at a good age and could be a similar player to us that Rickie Lambert was for Southampton with his strong physique and link up play.

I agree with looking at players like this. Why not?
Sometimes players have it all at youth levels and then fail to put into the men's leagues and fall down the leagues. It's then that some find that confidence and develop more. He's been playing non league football, in very physical leagues getting battered by central defenders weekly and now getting the better of them. He's big powerful and now added goals to his game. Why not give him a chance, a player who would not command a lot a week and relish a second chance in professional football!
Would we rather a player on the slide, a player dropping away from a academy side or a player hungry for a second chance who's found the love for the game and goals?

I remember him, took flack for not scoring but was so close on many occasions, just needed a little more luck and he was very young at the time we had him.
He is a big lad which sounds good for L2 but looking at his career on Soccerbase I'd question his commitment to staying fit, only 41 league starts in 7 years!

The appointment of our new head of recruitment points that way too because he has been working in the lower leagues.
It's not a bad thing necessarily ether when you look at players like Louis Moult who is playing in the SPL with Motherwell but was playing for Nuneaton once upon a time.
Though a data base might be needed first ..

I'd really like to see either Matty Fryatt (local lad from Nuneaton who's been injured for last two seasons - so more realistic to drop divisions) or Ishmael Miller.
Both excellent, powerful players who have proven they can score at higher divisions but either have had the rub if the green last two seasons.
Failing that - Crawleys Coventry-born James Collins. 18 goals in L2 so far this season. Maybe spend some of our Wembley money on a striker who can get into double figures!
