One of my favorite grounds, had great results over the years, Spurs were always beatable or could thrash us on the day.
97 apart, I remember Chris Marsden tearing them a new one in 94 and Tommy Hutchison scoring the winning goal in a 3-2 league cup win in 77.
My first Spurs away game was 69 and although the ground has had more makeovers than trigger's broom, it is still a great venue.
We used to say if it was 0-0 after 15 minutes the locals start getting on the backs of their team and we would be on for a result.
I can imagine it will be very emotional at the Lane tomorrow and like upton park last year will bring back memories of Highfield Road and saying farewell to an old friend.

I must admit one of my favourites as well all ways tried to play football.i seem to think the flying postmen ripped them apart one game.

I always liked going to WHL and am pretty sure I never saw us lose there. The game in 94 was good and I even remember us having a laugh with the referee when he gave Spurs a corner and we tried to convince him it was a goalkick but the standout game for me was the 3-1 win the following season when Strachan terrorised Justin Edinburgh

White Hart Lane one of our favourites, went there many times.
Particularly remember the 1997 last game of the season when it appeared we were already down. City played out of their skins plus results didn't go the way of Middlesbrough & Sunderland and we miraculously stayed up. Fantastic atmosphere and they played The Great Escape on the tannoy at the end of the game. When we came out of the ground loads of Spurs supporters shaking our hands and saying well done.

WHL is/was a great day out. Had some interesting days there, the great escape in 97, first game there after the Broadwater farm riots, (86 I think) spring to mind.

Loved WHL...it was my first away game as well. Can anyone remember what year it was when Babb scored the opener and Wegerle put us 2.1 up? I was probably about 10 so 94, 95? My dad is a Spurs fan and we were in the away end with the Cov fans, he wasn't happy that day haha.

I always 'mourn' the passing of an 'old' ground (altho as previously stated - so many makeovers over the last three decades) Remember standing on the Park end early '90's when we were crammed into a corner section - it was getting dangerously overcrowded before thankfully, they opened up another section of terracing. 1986 I went with a Liverpool supporting mate for the FA cup semi v S'ton and we stood on the centre section of the 'shelf', what a great terrace and stand that was.
First game we played them at WHL post cup final 1987 as we were walking to the ground from a pub I got chatting with an old boy (spurs fan) about his expectations from the game, just before we parted to go into our respective parts of the stadium he handed me a quid and said "Ere son, get yerself a programme". What a nice gesture, I've thought about it since and he probably thought we were all paupers 'up North'.
Early season midweek game 1992/93 I travelled down to London on my own, got there early and had a few beers, got up to WHL late and was gutted when five from the front they shut the terracing turnstyle and informed stand only now for Coventry fans - I was mortified to be shelling out £12 or maybe even £14 to get in! Without doubt the most I had ever paid for a match ticket up til that point! Missed JW's first goal, just got in to witness his fantastic second tho. (Micky Gynn - your penalty!)
1997 and all that - what a nerve wracking roller coaster of a day. After that result even the most cynical doubter knew that we would never be relegated, ever, ever.
Without checking, I reckon WHL has probably been our most profitable away venue (points wise) during our top flight tenure.

Yep, definitely one of the grand old grounds of English football, up there with Goodison Pk
Anfield, Highbury, Upton pk and dare I say it V***a pk

Really want to go to goodson, hope we get them in some cup next season. I'd be happy to go out of all cups in the first round and concentrate on the league though

The grand old Lady, you've probably got about 3 or 4 years to do it as they're going
To build a new stadium at bramley Moore dock on the banks of the Mersey.
Cracking ground, really hemmed in on the terraced streets of Walton, loud, boisterous
And very atmospheric, my favourite ground.

But they're not really leaving are they ? Aren't they just building on it ? Increasing capacity isn't leaving. The pictures I've seen seem to show a building site next door to White Hart Lane !

Looking at that wouldn't it be possible to finish 3 sides of the ground and move in while they finish the 4th rather than play at Wembley?

How long they at Wembley for?
I'm sure I heard somebody say they were there for 2 seasons and then West Ham were there for 1 season while there's was done.
Was building around Highfield Road ever considered back in the day?

Yes it was but there wasn't any support for it from the council and as it would have involved changes to the roads and compulsory purchase of some houses that made it a non starter.

Believe there was a few schemes considered but the only one I know any level of detail of was after we'd replaced the kop and there was a plan to place the 3 remaining old stands one at a time. Replace the Sky Blue stand with a new main stand extending over Thackall Street to allow room for non-matchday facilities. Then replace the West Stand which required compulsory purchases of the houses behind and finally replace the old main stand.

The theory was it could be done one stand at a time so the club didn't have to find a huge amount of money in one go. Or ideally follow the model of the East Stand which was largely paid for by M&B and the Football Trust.

The finished stadium will be quality, fair play to them. Be good to see them win the PL in the coming years.

That big stand behind the goal looks good. I hope it means there is a better atmosphere than most new builds.
