With the deal due to run out end of June 2017 it has gone very quiet as to the solution. 6 weeks left.

The club should be notified shortly whether Cat 2 has been retained soon by the FA/EFL shouldn't they. Which will surely have to include terms for a site for at least 12 months going forward under the rules

Or was the terminology in the 2016 financials an indication that in L2 we can not afford it?

He's the academy boss. Seems like he just gets on with his job without the politics etc.
Whilst it's not his fault, I'll still believe anything when I see it, when it comes to our club!

Personally I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Friend of mine had 2 sons in there and pulled them out.

Any reason? Academy football isn't for everyone. Kids may not like the coaches, the atmosphere or the training/games regime. It's normal, we've lost young lads this way and also gained young lads from this way.

I think the most important person we need to keep is jason farndon, he really knows how to develop the players Think he should be 21's manager next season if we have 21's its no brainer.

Yep, anyone know knows about local academy football will tell you the same. I also have a lot to do with Leamington/Southam/Kenilworth/Stratford Town/ etc and I along with a lot of others would choose one of these ahead of Ccfcs. When I am turning up to games and there are now corner flags it tells its own sorry story. We are not talking about Sunday football here but academy football where things should be done properly.

Alright, that's your choice and there's.

Can't think of a single player any of them clubs have produced who have gone on to play at league level so not sure it would be better for a good young player to join Stratford instead of CCFC. Infact most of them take the professionals who don't make it here like Courtney Baker-Richardson, Ryan Quinn and Eli Bako.

What I have noticed in Academy football is that there's 3-4 highly talented players who they concentrate on developing but the rest of the squad makes up the numbers at younger age groups. This is just not strictly CCFC either, watched a few 16s games this season and you can see teams have a few players who are at a higher level than their teammates.

This is why a parent has to be honest and sometimes accept this. If a parent is going to think their lad is the best player going and is going to make it then you're just setting yourself up for dissapointment. If you can see your lad is just making up the numbers then in my opinion you should pull him out.

What happens in some cases then is parents slag off the Academy system if their lad doesn't make the grade.

The under 18's have just won the league. Sambou went to Everton last year. Camwell to Stoke this year. If that is the result of 'sunday football' then Leamington etc must be really bad.

But Harry Kane as an example was apparently way down the pecking order at Spurs at 15/16.

The academy is designed to develop players, can be frustrating watching because their policy is results don't matter something some parents can't/won't grasp. I drill into my grandson regularly the next game has to be his best game last week, last month doesn't matter, it's gone. Most teams in his age group they play twice home and away so he's coming up against the same players usually twice and there's some terrific players amongst them, I tell him he has to dominate them especially second time around and so far he does to great extent, but that has to continue every time in what is just about the most cut-throat industry there is.

What, like winning leagues and producing first team footballers?
Sunday football? Think you misunderstood. The point was that if at academy level if there are no corner flags (ref ccfc academy on occasions) that to me is poor. Sunday league clubs who leave the flags in the changing room can be excused as they are not a cat2 acedemy setup/side.

You would advise people to go to Leamington over CCFC because of corner flags?

Andre Grey-Hinckley Utd. Ben Foster Warwick/Central Ajax.
Isn't that 2 more than the Ccfc academy who have gone on to play regularly at the top level in the last 10 years (Wilson apart?)?

Not at all-just giving an example of things that run all the way down through the club-starting at the very top. Rotten to the core which unfortunately filters down.

Andre Gray was at Shrewsbury and Wolves before Hinckley. An Academy product is classed as a player who has played for the clubs U18 side.

I'll give you Ben Foster though.

You are kind!

All about opinions anyway. I think we've gathered for one reason or another you don't like the Academy set up which is fine. I understand both points of view as a fan myself.

I think CCFC fans in the main support the Academy. The youth thread on here has over 90,000 views when I last checked so clearly there's a lot of interest in it and what's going on from posters and outsiders.

Anyway, this thread is about the future of our Academy rather than who's set up is better than who's.

Good post, I think the thing that disappoints most is the amount of money that has been invested over the years and the minimal returns. Different era I know but in the 80's we all know the Danny Thomas' etc that all came through and had successful years in the top flight here or elsewhere after coming through our academy full term from early ages. Struggling to think of more than 2 (Kirkland-Wilson) who have gone on and played regularly in the top flight in the last 10-15 years.
