Big shame, but it'll set the lad up for life much like Sambou even if they fall through the leagues as players when their 3 year contracts expire!

Good luck to him.

Will CCFC receive much more (pennies I guess) for him making a first team appearance?

The player has no other option if this money is being offered to him. It's out of our price range, no matter what we offer it will be bettered. It's Like the lad that went to Everton last year doing the same day in day out, taking the same risks with the only difference 8 times the salary and a bigger insurance pay out if the worst happends.

I would imagine his thought process is a very simple equation, small money now and maybe succed or fail or life changing money now and maybe fail or succed. No Brainer and not a lot the club can do about it.

I guess he would be in the U23 sides of both clubs next season. The U23s is one team below the first team so he can either be in our U23s on a few hundred a week or Stoke's U23s on a thousand and a bit more a week.

Obviously we have a better pathway than Stoke but the way he's probably looking at is that he's one squad away from playing for a club in the biggest league in the world on substantially more money.

Apparently they only offered the 7 one year contracts each. That's an absolute joke and gives no security whatsoever for the player or the club.

Jordan Ponticelli has scored 31 times this season and is one of the hottest prospects about outside of the Premier League and we only offered him one year?

Can't blame any of them for moving on.

If that's the case then I don't understand the strategy at all. Firstly for the club who have invested in the development of many of these youngsters from an early age. And secondly for the players themselves, it's a shallow reward and token of thanks for having the ability, application and determination to reach this stage. What incentive is there for lads who are maybe 2 or 3 years earlier in their development to stick at it with us if this is the likely reward?

I just can't work out if it's purely a consequence of relegation or other instability.

Nor me Wingy. Would have thought the opportunities for academy players/first year pros to break into the first team are much greater at L2 level. Plus any success with them in the team reduces the reliance on loans over time. So surely win win?

If only SISU protected their investment in the academy the way they protect the sort of investment in the club through ARVO. What a mess.
Yes, I'm sure we would all like to see all 7 of them continuing their development in the first team whenever the coaching staff deem they are ready. Appreciate that we dont really know whats going on behind the scenes but it would be a great shame all round if this doesn't happen.

Coventry City teenager running out of patience with Stoke City

Coventry City teenager Chris Camwell is reportedly running out of patience as he awaits a possible move to Stoke City.

Reports in Coventry suggest the 18 year-old left back is leaning towards signing a new deal with the Sky Blues after becoming frustrated with the lack of transfer activity.

The Bedworth-born youngster, who is out of contract this summer, is apparently keen to settle his future ahead of pre-season training in a fortnight.

This was all a big publicity game from his agent to get him a better deal with Coventry, fair play to his agent as he was originally offered a wage you could not live on!

Would be nice if we could keep some of our best prospects until they actually make the first team.

This is good news for us and him in my opinion. He'd probably be sitting in the reserves stagnating at Stoke and end up going backwards whilst he could well play a fair few first team games for us this season getting better all the time. WIN WIN in my eyes.
