I'm a geek when I comes to gadgets, I'm always looking for something new to get for around the house or myself.

Now in the last couple of months I've become a little stuck; I just can't think of any gadgets to add to my collection.

I have a 3D TV all be a couple of years old but is still perfectly fine and relevant for now, blu ray player and surround sound. New laptop, Ipad, newish phone.

Any ideas of what I could look at? Anything anyone use everyday or a regular basis which they couldn't live without anymore?

A magnifying glass. As I get older, I use it more and more to read fine print etc.
I now have several in different rooms so I always have one near to hand.

Other really useful (low-tech) gadgets are a small LED torch for investigating those dark areas, a key ring with a little button that shines a light so you can see the keyhole at night, a small mirror for seeing behind things and a compass to see which way you are headed. The compass floats in liquid and has a sticker at the bottom.

All of these 'gadgets' were bought at a pound store. I prefer gadgets that are small, cheap, simple and don't need batteries (although a couple of mine do).

We got an Amazon Echo on Prime Day. It's brilliant, so much fun to use. We are getting Hive so will be useful for that and also for our Yamaha Musiccast system.

Here's a pic I just took of some of my most useful gadgets. One pound each. The note-holder and magnifier were free. Note holder from a Christmas cracker, magnifier was a McDonalds kiddie toy.
Mini-torch, postal scale, note holder, compass, magnifier, lighted key-ring.

Never had a Sonos system. Had a Panasonic one which was ok but have a Yamaha Musiccast system now which is fab. A network HiFi which can stream to other musiccast speakers or any Bluetooth speaker. I can have vinyl playing and listen wherever I have speakers. I love technology.

Not really a gadget as such but I find apple music fantastic. Basically any music you could wish for on there, you can play through your phone and computer and it will sync with your iTunes library so , in the unlikely event what you want isn't there, you can play your own stuff.

Apple Music also works great with Sonos, I've got a Sonos bridge linked into my home amp and it's really easy to use.

Smart watches. Anyone else got one? I have a couple of Pebbles and a Sony SWR50. Love the Pebbles.

Didn't you get bored after a bit? :)

Only so many times like with anything voice activated you repeat yourself, call it a prick for not doing it and just use the normal remote :)

Nah. I like the Pebbles because they are basically just for notifications. Saves me taking my phone out of my pocket if I get a call or email. Admittedly the Sony is like having another phone on your wrist which is OFF so don't really use that anymore. The Pebbles look like normal watches too.

Alexa is great to just have about when you need it. I don't speak like a retard though so it can usually understand me ;)

It's probably down with your posh Earlsdon lingo, probably alright if you want to order "bread rolls" and not batches and "grarse" instead of "grass" ;)

A toilet roll holder attached to your headboard would be handy, for when you have a cold obviously

The guy on the news last night who's Idea to get rid of the Concrete block in washing machines that stabilises them, then replaced with a plastic tank filled with water when installing.
The guy from Tesla has a partnership with another chap which appears to be re igniting Izumbard(spelling) Kingdom Brunnells technology from the 19th century and his atmospheric railway.
Nearly 200mph over a half kilometre, with the aim of 650 mph.

How about a hi res portable audio player. Much more capacity than a ipod with apparently much better quality from lossless music. I'm currently looking at them myself. the Shanling m2s and Cayin i5 are ones that appeal at the moment as they both have Bluetooth for use with external speakers as well as headphones. Anyone with thoughts on these units ?

Could be a romance killer when you have a new girlfriend over.
