No, never had that, hotrod.
Always been in for how ever long it has taken. Think one time last year I was in with the doctor for a good 25 mins or more. They had to ascertain 3 opinions.
They do keep old people in there for ages
There's always the old person in front who goes in for agggesss, then you go in with something and they don't even make eye contact and just say yeah do this, get this and you are on your way.

My missus is really bad. She stores them up, rings the doctor and says it's one problem, then turns up and unleashes a whole list of ailments on the poor unsuspecting GP.

Just because someone is in there doesn't mean the doctor is with them.They do keep old people in there for ages

Sometimes they have several people in rooms and the doctor goes from one to the other.
That's my experience anyway.

Tell me where your surgery is and I will make a note to never go there.
Never, ever come across that at all in all my time going to see a GP.

Well done to anybody who managed to get into their doctors we have a window of about thirty seconds where you can book an emergency appointment as the surgery is fully booked with old people on their regular visits.

I wanted an emergency appointment once, they said I could go in 6 days or go down and wait for the day in case the doctor had 5 minutes to fit me in. Sitting there thinking I was going to die watching people with a sniffle and "regulars" going for a chat made me want to smash the place up.

I think for some it's just company much as I am against charging in the NHS it would free up space as some are taking the mick

With my GP I discovered if I want an appointment this month I have to roll up 15mins before they open at 8am and book for later that day, usually there is a queue, leave it to 8:05 and you are behind 6 people already! Works for me as I don't go often & don't have any long term chronic stuff I need medication for but it is a bit pants.

It's the receptionists as well, they are there like best mates with Maurine having a chat for ages while you stand and wait like they are best mates. It gets to you and it's attitude as if you are an impostor "name", "address", "what times your appointment", "sit down the doctors will shout you". "Oh hiiiiiyyyyaaa doris how are you my dear".

I quite like our surgery.
You ring up, ask to for an appointment and they take your number and the doctor rings you back (usually 30-60 mins). You tell the doctor what the problem is over the phone and then they book you in with the appropriate GP for the same day.
Works well.
If you say it is really urgent they usually book you straight in.

Never had a problem at mine either, if its an emergency they fit you in, even after the surgery is closed, also a few times I've suggested the doc give me a call and had a telephone consultation. On one occasion I took my child in, the doc saw him via emergency appt. Around 7 PM that night there was a knock at the door and it was the GP popping in to check on my son again while he was on his way home.
I generally find it better to visit the pharmacy first, they can then offer suitable products to purchase which alleviate your sympthoms...

I'm there right now as we speak. Mrs is suffering from Russian citizenship.
Been here 25 mins and would say the average for each patient with a doctor has been 8-9 mins and no doctor has been going from room to room. Just one doctor per room and they ain't moving!!
We all need to make sure none of us move to where Gazbola lives.

Remember watching a programme on doctors. It was about how they end up prescribing stuff unnecessarily and the effect it was having on long term patients. Made a real point of saying you have 10 mins to get to the bottom of it and prescribe, as barely anyone will walk out of there without medication. Everyone's googled their symptoms and they're going to die. It's completely backwards and like no one trusts the doctor to make an actual decision they've trained for 10 years to be qualified enough to make.
Only time I've been to the doctors in the last 10 years was for a skin infection. Doctor just suggested applying shampoo to the affected area. Sorted it out in about 4 days.

True about the Google thing. Both me and my missus do it and obviously it comes up with the possibility of heart disease, or cancer, or something really horrid.
I'm sure most people do the same.
I have been to the doctor quite a few times in the past year or so, but then like Nick says, I am really really bloody old.

I don't trust GP's too much, if I think it's serious I try to get a 2nd opinion. Yes they have trained, but they still miss things while they are rushing to get you out.
How do you manage to get a second opinion? I thought you had to register with another Doctor to see them, and that you can only register with one at the same time.

Yeah, I had a paper cut and after a 6 seconds search on the internet I became very very worried.

Just ask to see a different doctor if it's important, it isn't a set person just whoever is there

Go see another doctor in the same practise. My missus has just done it.
Won't go into details, but she went, the doctor couldn't find anything, but she was convinced something was there, so made another appointment with a different GP at the same surgery and now she's been referred to the hospital.

Had it happened to family so I'm the same, don't trust them at all. Trying to use wart freeze treatment on skin cancer for 4 months.

I had to go to a&e two weeks ago as I had put my wedding ring on for the first time in months and then couldn't get it off, only had to wait ten minutes and then had it cut off ring not finger great service for a stupid idiot

Didn't even use the my wife's a nurse! There were only two of us there and my case was easy as only really had to see a nurse

Not necessarily. The second last doctor I saw (I very seldom see the same one twice running) trained as a microsurgeon and was merely filling-in part time. She looked up my symptoms on the internet which I could have done myself. Also gave me a fourteen page printout of a guide to healthy living from Wikipedia which again I could have easily found myself.
The last doctor I saw was drunk off her head and had the cheek to ask ME for an alcohol blood test! I'm still waiting for the results of that test over a year later. She's probably forgotten I even exist.
I have no complaints though about the nurses I meet who do the real work.
