Really, really want to see this. Fabulous reviews too. The first is an excellent cinematic experience and a modern day classic.

Yup. Tend not to do the cinema often, but this deserves it.

Slightly concerned Mrs. Wisdom may not appreciate the violence, even on a 15. She nearly passed out when Rutger Hauer cracked Harrison Ford's fingers in the original, and as for the nail through his hand... :D

Violence is not prolific but focussed on some scenes and some shocking - advise Mrs W to shut her eyes when on the screen - plenty to see in the overall effects - sounds are good and atmospheric - looking forward to re- viewing the first one

Have to say though, I think I am the only one on the planet who likes the voiceover version. I was very much brought up on the film noir detective thrillers of the 1940's, with Humphrey Bogart and Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe, the Big Sleep and the Maltese Falcon etc.

So often the main character would use voiceover describing the environment around them and the thickly woven plot.

I therefore totally bought into that with Blade Runner, but it's that V/O itself that a lot of critics had a problem with.

Would like to revisit it again at some point, having only ever seen versions without the V/O since.

Yeah, I liked the VO version too, but they only did that for the American market. Also the happy ending with the car driving giving the impression they are escaping together for a new life. That was an outtake from The Shining.

When I went to the cinema at the time it came out, Torch, I'm sure I saw the voice over version here in the UK. Saw that and only after that I saw the version with the voiceover removed.

YEah, that's right. I have a great book all about Bladerunner - it's my favourite all time film - and apparently preview audiences in the States were really confused, so they recorded the voice over to make the story clearer. Preview audiences were also concerned that Deckard and Rachel died hence they tagged on that sequence pinched from The Shining. It's a fascinating book.

I watched this last night, a very good film in my book. It is long but moves along quite well with just enough time for Mrs spider to catch up with what was happening. I wouldn't say it is overly violent, the most intense scene, that comes near the end being more gripping than gruesome. Good performances throughout, I would definitely recommend it. I watched it in 3D which I enjoyed but I think it would be equally enjoyable in 2D, I was expecting it to be busy but there were only about 20 people in on a Saturday evening.

It's a good job they tagged it on or the premise for the new film would suffer. On a sidenote Torch, knowing how you like a good soundtrack I think you will like this one, in a similar atmospheric vein to the original.

One of my favourite movies too and at the time I thought Ridley Scott was a genius, what with Alien being one of my favourite films also.

And that was one of the great things about the first movie. Great soundtrack, wonderful visuals and some great performances.

Yes, I managed to download the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack and Hans Zimmer has done an excellent job and has retained the atmosphere of the original. Unfortunately, the new soundtrack isn't available in any physical formats yet, but I'm sure it will be eventually.

Yes he was brought in to take over from Johann Johansson, the director said he wanted something closer to Vangelis. I wouldn't mind hearing what Johannsson was working on in any case but you can't fault the director as the score fits the film very well.
