"The club that wouldn't die"

The very fact that they are now playing us gives me both comfort & hope for the future of CCFC.......

2-4. An SBA classic day out!

Really looking forward to this away day. Feels like and FA Cup 3rd round tie rather than a league game.
Google earth the ground, its hilarious.

At least they have a ground they can call their own. It has it's own charm, they're usually a friendly bunch up there, just hope it doesn't rain.
Accrington are a very workmanlike side and will want to get back on track after the blip against Luton.
Think we will have our work cut out here and will take a 1-1.

Can not keep drawing games if we want to get promoted !!!
Luton won there last weekend , so must we !!!

Feels like a loss to me unless our goal-shy strikers can come good. I know Nazon is back but we need to start scoring instead of relying on clean sheets. I would be happy that we have become a boring 1-0, 0-0 team if I thought it would last but at the moment it all looks a flimsy basis for optimism.

Agree, it’s their own ground, and I am really looking forward to going there and standing behind the goal. Clubs like this and their fans have my respect, (so dare I hope for no ‘Accrington’s a s*** hole’ songs?) a draw will not be a bad result.

The story of Accrington FC and Accrington Stanley FC is fascinating. Check out Wikipedia to read about all three clubs.
They have a great badge. Anyone know what the thing in the middle of the badge is or where the 'Stanley' comes from?

Stanley comes from 'Stanley Street' .
When the original member of the football league - Accrington FC went bust, a local team Stanley Villa ( named after Stanley St in the town) took the Accrington name and became Accrington Stanley. That was the club that played Coventry City in Division 3 in 1959/60 season.
We are the reformed 1968 version having resigned from the league in 1962.
The badge is the crest of the town of Accrington. There's oak leaves (Accrington - place where acorns grew) , Caxton printing press and a weavers shuttle.

My dad played for the Stanley in the fifties so I've always had a soft spot for them
Still hope we pump them

A letter box?
As Stanleyhouse referenced, think that is the weavers shuttle representing the town's historical links to the cotton industry.
Just surprised there isn't a bottle of Benedictine in there :emoji_relaxed:

As a kid I always thought our badge (with the scrolls at the top and the bottom rather than just the elephant on the ball that the kit had on) looked like a telephone.

My grandad played for Accrington and Burnley. Like you I've always had a soft spot for both teams. A win would be nice, but I'd settle for a draw.

to be on line for automatics at half way we need around 20 points from the next 11 games
to be in line for play offs we need around 12 points from 11 games

6 wins , 2 draws and 3 defeats should be possible, so would hope we are nearer 3rd than 7th

Accrington/ Forest Green/ Colchester/ Luton 7 points from those 4 games would be good enough at this stage

Or, alternatively, take each game as it comes. 3 points ideally but a point wouldn't be the end of the world.
