This interview is very much worth watching.

I'll explain why I think so. I feel it's important to be an independent thinker, i.e. not to follow themes from one side or another, accepting them without thought. I am also passionate about identifying the underlying cause of issues rather than accepting generalisations. This is what happens when the two clash.

Poor old Cathy couldn't deconstruct his argument in any way.. lots of memes going round on this, may fish something out later.

she's also received death threats and C4 had to call in security. One of those memes was a pornographic mock up of her and the professor, hilarious.

It seems to be impossible to underestimate the intelligence and temperament of some people on the internet. Let's ignore them as there is nothing to be gained from acknowledging them. I also take little from this interview about the gender pay gap, as Cathy's interviewing style is so inept that she doesn't really challenge Peterson. If Cathy learns from this she will become better at her job. I've seen Jon Snow being similarly inept but not exposed on it. If I were he, I would also consider my approach.

No evidence of a death threat has been seen publicly, people in public life have to deal with shit every day, if she wants a quiet life I suggest C4 TV news presenter isn't an ideal job.

Anyway the memes I'm talking about are just funny though they do mock her poor technique of jumping to invalid conclusions based on misinterpreting Petersons argument, at every turn he corrected her politely and firmly showing her (or her producers) not to understand his POV or to be disagreeing with it because it did not suit their agenda/politics.

I can't be bothered to trawl through threads but I'll pretty much guarantee that in the past you've posted your faux outrage at death threats when it suits your agenda.
I disagree with them whoever they're directed at but am also sensible enough that the people responsible are in a minority so don'ttry and smear whole sections of any particular group because individuals from that group may have used them.

Loved this interview, she gets herself in a right state yet hes sat their calmly, explaining his views.

Their are differences between the genders, this is fact. Men are taller, stronger and faster, carry more muscle mass, have stronger bones, tendons and ligaments (the result of higher levels of testosterone). Women naturally carry more fat (result of higher levels of estrogen). Of course their will be exceptions to the rule, this also suggests why transgender men should not be able to compete in women's sport. Enough on that as you can easily google and come out with a far better explanation then I can give.

Gender pay gap is largely a myth. They'll compare a women working 16 hours a week in a supermarket, to me working 37 hours in a factory. It's deceitful and irresponsible to compare the two to each other. Now, when you compare the pay side by side, same job, same service, the pay gap disappears.

Liking Clint's post for the comments about judging people as individuals rather than being a member of a group. Not endorsing any accusation of others showing faux outrage, as I don't know if that is true or not.

To be honest I post so much crap I may well have done, but I hope not. :emoji_blush:

Anyway I was impressed by Peterson, he just talked a lot of sense and was exceptionally capable of explaining his conclusions.

Cathy : "What gives you the right to say that?"
Jordan : "I'm a Clinical Psychologist"

Her interviewing technique seemed to revolve around picking up on something he said and taking it it to some ludicrious extreme and then turning it back to him with the words........."so what you are saying is..........."

Very interesting interview.

No the gender pay gap is not a myth, they already control for the job people aren’t doing and the hours worked, that’s a red herring. You’re assuming you know more about controlling data than professional statisticians. If you want an argument against it that’s backed by fact it’s that it doesn’t appear until childbearing age and is mostly caused by women having all the child rearing responsibility.

Many studies have debunked it, and when you see the original criteria behind it then you realise how skewed it is. Also many reports and studies that show younger women tend to out earn men in the 21-30 age range.

Let's face it, if the big evil corporations could get away with paying women less, then wouldn't the whole work force be women?

Women also tend to pick careers that tend to earn less, nurses, teachers, nursery nurse, etc.

If you want to look at real inequality then let's look at male suicide rates, depression levels in males, homelessness, child custody rates, different punishments for same crimes.

I'm not saying I know more then anybody, it's just that people have agenda's, and things are spun.

I have a PhD in Econ and the pay gap is one of my specialities. In fact Jordan is wrong. The pay gap persists in wage regressions that control for lots of different factors. There’s also evidence from non-wage studies that females face a (small amount of) discrimination in labour markets. Shmee is correct about that.

That said, it’s still an entertaining interview because the interviewer is pretty dumb and she is totally out of her depth. She’s so typical of those on the Left who speak from political dogma rather than hard scientific evidence.
