Was, in my opinion, a disgrace to football. I didn’t think we would get away tickets, so we got tickets in the Mansfield main stand, and were sitting 5 rows behind the Mansfield dugout. We’ve all seen top managers lose it occasionally with the officials (Ferguson, Conte, Wenger, Mourinhio etc), but Evans takes it to an entirely different level. He attacks every single decision that goes against his team. He’s in the face of the fourth official, is screaming at the referee throughout the entire game, and throws his arms up in disgust at the most obvious free kick or throw in awarded to the opposition. He’s also sniping at Mark Robins during the game, and then at the end when Robins goes to shake his hand, he refuses, and stands there shouting into his face.
I’m guessing that in schools across North Notts, teachers are trying to teach kids the ways to behave, how to play hard, but fair, how to be competitive, but how to lose gracefully. I know that this is professional sport, and that football is aggressive and tribal ( which is what we enjoy, and sets our sport apart). But there were quite a lot of kids around us today, and the example this ‘role model’ sets them is, in my view, appalling. Surely the FA should do something about this? I want Cov’s Manager to have passion, to be on the touch line supporting, encouraging, and directing our players, but, NEVER would I want Steve Evans managing our team.
