CWR - Robins (2 Viewers)

He has been awful at reacting for as long as I can remember this season.

If a game works from the start we are ok, if something happens and it isn't then we are fucked.

It was the same over and over, long ball to Rhead and then an overlap for the knock down.
Shall I remind you again that the game at Lincoln was exactly the same. Only we won that as Robins got Kelly in particular picking up second balls off Rheade. We struggled to do that tonight because we're now playing Kelly further forward and carrying Bayliss, exactly the sort of thing you and others who complained about negativity wanted.

This streetwise thing is bollocks. It's part of having a game plan.

You can be 18 and be "streetwise".

You see 15 year olds playing against blokes in Sunday League who have more of a clue.
What you talking about game plans for you walking cliche? A game plan is irrelevant if you go a goal down

That didn’t work at Notts Co after the Yeovil defeat. I don’t think there is a need to panic. We still need at maximum 4 points. Provided they turn up on Saturday we should be good enough for at least a point. Total over reaction on here.
Not on here, from Robins!

Robins very much hinted at changes for Saturday, so I don't think there is any overreaction on here, it's just posters reacting to what Robins has said.

At one point he actually said that some of the defenders should't be playing football if they can't deal with the ball as they did tonight.

We won then because we had pace of Jones and sort of with nazon to counter them.

You can play positive football trying to win games without massive gaping defensive flaws.

Pressleys banished quote. Nothing changed after that.

That's how you lose a dressing room.

You are saying he doesn't react (I agree), but then you say he went too far in bashing them (I don't agree).

They behaved like boys again tonight and I said in previous threads I felt we were getting a bit complacent. They need a massive kick up the arse.

People said Bayliss was man of the match, I only watched the second half but he was wank on the ball. Touch of a rapist.

He could lose the dressing room, but I think if he doesn't do anything we could miss out on the playoffs. I back him on this.

By all means bash them if you are going to follow it through and do something about it.

He's going to change it I'm sure.

Would not be at all surprised to see Willis and Rod dropped and Davies and Hyam in. Think Haynes may well be dropped too and I would expect Reid in on the left.

Think there may be 5 or 6 changes on Saturday easily.

I thought Haynes played alright, he put in some good tackles, in that respect, one of the better performances I’ve seen him in. However, they targeted both Grimmer and Haynes with diagonal direct balls. But Rhead and Palmer bullied our defence.

I want to know what an earth has happened to this defence?! In the last 4 games we’ve conceded about as many as we had done in the previous 10-15. 11 in our last 3 at home! McDonald I think has been all over the place recently. This defence was set to have conceded less than 40 goals at one point — capitulation.

I do sympathise with Robins because we just don’t have the wingers to play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and we’re left playing a weird 4-3-3 formation... It’s something that needs to be addressed come summer time.

Yet tonight we let them stroll about with acres of space.

They exploited our weakness, they bullied us.

I agree Baylis wasn't very good, but where was Kelly actually playing?

Geez, if that's one of the better performances you have seen from Haynes just how bad did the others have to be?

Irrespective of whether we get promoted or not MR will have to strengthen the squad in the summer. We will have to improve next season if we are to get out of this league if we don't succeed this time round. If we do get promoted then god help us next season. Staying up will be the best we can hope for unless large amounts of money are available . .

Genuinely if he’d have been subbed after 15 minutes for Stokes you’d have said its for the best and the right thing to do.

Do feel for Haynes I’ve never rated him but he seems like a good lad, appears to not confident enough and too much of a thinker maybe?

What would you do? It’s all well and good moaning for the sake of it. Your options are:
- Bayliss RM in a 4-4-2
- Vincenti/DKE in a 4-4-2 - so Kelly or Bayliss miss out
- Shipley or Reid on the right - they aren’t JJ
- Play this weird 4-3-3 with McNulty our wide because the way our full backs play, they need coverage

For me, I’m looking at this team and in the playoffs, I think 5-3-2 is the way to go because:
- extra defensive coverage because our full backs have more work no we don’t play w/ wingers
- allows fullbacks to push further up the pitch
- keeps all, Kelly, Bayliss, Doyle, McNulty and JCH in central positions where they need to be.

If we make it to the playoffs, we can’t leave ourselves as open as we have been in these last few matches.

That means Davies is back in the fold. Who is probably the most unluckiest of our players this season because every time he looks as if he’s establishing himself as a 1st choice, he get injured.

I can see us signing a big gnarly CB who’s a threat aerially — it just about sums us up that a defender is yet to score in the last 42 games.

Moaning for the sake of it? How?

I wouldn't be surprised to see a random dke return, its been a while.

If there's a game that we are chasing I'd bring pace in. Tonight id have swapped Baylis for biamou and reid for Haynes pushing shipley back.

Reid has the most assists this season in our squad.

Tbh, he’s being targeted a bit unfairly, he did his bit on the left, and considering Rhead was bullying McDonald and Willis, is it really a surprise when he beat Haynes a few times. I think our defending in the centres has completely broke down lately - Stevenage were so poor against us, but Lincoln exploited us badly.

Classic Robins if he drops Willis, coming up against Eisa, Willis needs to play purley for his speed, McDonald has been piss poor for weeks.

Robins actually said that if they don’t improve he will make changes. Seems like he was saying they are running out of chances rather than had their last chance. Five changes at Notts didn’t work, I don’t think he would do that again. It’s difficult as the right hand side is still causing difficulties with no natural right winger. I don’t think it works with Ponticelli, so Bayliss might well be the preferred option there.( He was criticised on CWR and on here for changing a winning team). Stokes for Haynes and possibly Davis for McDonald are the only two changes that I would make. I would however, use Reid more from the bench, particularly if you are chasing the game as we were tonight.
Still cannot believe ( or rather I can having regularly read comments on here by the same people) some of the comments made after the game tonight. Play offs or not I hope Robins is given the chance to build on this next season. Ponticelli scores with the two chances, Robins is a tactical genius and everything is alright with the world. He misses and Robins is a fool.

Ok, but from that I deduct that you’d have kept the system the same... so what changes would you have actually made to the system then?

You say we need ‘pace’, where is that coming from? We can’t make any transfers and we don’t have two wingers. Vincenti/DKE aren’t really worth dropping Kelly or Bayliss I think.

If you think about it, is Shipley at LB a good idea? Haynes is 6”1 and Rhead bullied him, Shipley is smaller than him and frankly, he’s not good in the air. Did you see the Yeovil game when we replaced a left back with a midfielder? Exploited.

My point is, the problems we have are largely systemic, is our current starting XI good enough to be promoted? No. At full strength? Maybe. The reality is, we’ve been hit hardest where we’ve got the least amount of cover! We completely lack wingers.

For me, I’d try 5-3-2 or a diamond midfield. If we’re talking about systems, that’s probably what’ll suit us at this moment in time.

Dare I say it, either of the dke would have been more physical with rhead than any of or defenders tonight.

How bad is that?

First time that I will admit this, but Robins fucked up tonight, he is just as much to blame as our shambolic defending was. Their players knew Haynes was our weak link tonight and kept sending this ball down his direction, which means Crowley done his homework, whereas Robins clearly never.

And just to be clear I'm not absolving that ginger prick from any blame, he needs to just fucking shout for an option or throw it longer or something instead of just being a mong and looking side to side. Christ
I can understand people being angry but you should be ashamed of yourself for using the term “mong”. You’re not the only person to have used it on here. It’s not acceptable, there’s no excuse.

Why is “mong” such an issue?

Today, the word “mong” is used quite frequently. However, have you ever heard it used in a positive way? Have you used it to mean “idiot”, “slow” or “stupid”? These words have been used throughout history and today to refer to people with learning disabilities and people with Down’s syndrome. Has the word really changed?
We know many people with Down’s syndrome face abuse on the street every day including having the word “mong” shouted at them. When Ricky Gervais or others with similar prominence use this word, people hear it and think it’s alright to use this word how they see fit. Words hit hard and punch you whether you’re up or down.

Not only is the word offensive to people with Down’s syndrome but it is also offensive to Mongolians. If you were a Mongol, how would you like to hear your nationality used as a word that meant “slow”, “stupid” or “idiot”? In an age where people are seeing the consequences bullying has on its victims, why would you promote a negative word with negative pictures? This word is not only harmful to people with Down’s syndrome but to Mongolians.

We encourage Ricky Gervais to speak to his local Down’s syndrome organisation or phone us on 0131 313 4225 for more information. We are happy to put him in contact with people with Down’s syndrome who can explain what the word “mong” means to them. While you may not have known that “mong” refers to Down’s syndrome, will you stop using it now that you know? We hope to erase ignorance over the potency of this word. By educating others on the harm this word does, we hope you and others choose not to use it in the future. By doing so, you are supporting a group in society that is often disregarded.
We have seen words like the “N word”, which referred to black slaves in America change its meaning as some black people have taken back the word and refer to their black friends as “nigga”. However, this word is generally not used by white people as there is a respect and understanding that the origins of the word represent oppression to black people.

People with learning disabilities cannot reclaim the word “mong”. People with learning disabilities are often left out of society. Due to disproportionate cuts to their services, it's harder to secure jobs and college places leaving people with learning disabilities stuck at home.

No one here means it as an insult or intentionally wants to offend someone with learning difficulties.

Give it a rest.

After that performance players can't expect to get off without a managers reaction. How they react will help all understand if they except responsability or decide to sulk. From what I seen tonight these players didn't look like they are brave enough on or off the ball to do so.

Having said that I don't think this is the time or the place to out players. If you do that you should bring everyone under the umbrella including yourselve and coaching staff on all having to do a better job.

Dividing now and threatening players with places and jobs could backfire. And if history shows us anything, when players decide to down tools the only one out the door is not normally them.

What’s alarming to me is Rods loss of form. He’s gone from outstanding at the start of the season to dreadful now. There seems some underlying problem in our squad as players don’t suddenly become shit overnight.

We don't know what gone on in the dressing room but like you said things do not look good with the team spirit at the moment. The only thing that I can see is the introduction of JCH to the squad and as to wether this has upset the balance we don't know. Or Rod feels threatened by Hyam or Davis?
