Burge - 6. Nowt to do.

Grimmer - 6. Got up and down the right flank, but again his crossing was poor

Davies -7. Steady. Not a lot of threat to deal with. One great clearance/interception

Hyam - 6 Same as above

Stokes - 7. Thought Stokes was decent today and supported the attack quite well.

Doyle - 7. Thought he had a good game. Some good taking long balls and could have scored from the well hit shot early on.

Bayliss - 7.5. He did look tired and jaded, but could have won a penalty with one really good run and nearly scored with a second great run in the second half.

Kelly - 6. Quite steady.

Shipley - 5. Nothing quite went right for him today. Added to that his corners were awful too.

McNumpty - 6. Quiet game for him today, but he didn't get the service he thrives on.

JCH - 5. Would like to know which clown school he studied out. His diving and collapsing in a heap has now become a bit of a joke.

Reid - 4. He was awful when he came on and just passed the ball back every single time. I know we were trying to see the game out, but his play was much more negative than nearly everyone else around him.

Davies touch stopped a certain goal to be fair, any touch and the quality of the ball meant it would have been harder to miss.

I will though...just for the craic;

Burge 6; managed to keep the ball in play at all times...wasn’t really tested
Grimmer 6; wasn’t troubled but when in a decent advanced position opted to play it back
Davies 8 (motm); solid, dependable, did not put a foot wrong. Extra point for the touch to take it away from the striker in the 6 yard box from that wicked cross
Hyam 7; similar to Davies, did not do anything wrong although maybe both defenders were helped by Morecambe’s reluctance to come forward
Stokes 6; similar to Grimmer really, solid enough but not really troubled and we already know he isn’t able to get forward as much as he used to
Doyle 6.5; typical Doyle performance
Kelly 6; did not seem to have that drive in him today
Bayliss 7; extra half mark for the bursting run, but rather a weak effort when in position to shoot
Shipley 5; poor deliveries, very poor...the corner sailing over everybody and going for a throw in is almost inexcusable
Mcnulty 6; partnership between him and JCH just does not seem to work, in my opinion. Too often they were within 5 yards of each other
JCH 5; poor. Got into positions but unable to finish. Given the option of spending that reported £170k loan fee on him or another player, I’d definitely save the money and look elsewhere

Subs...
Reid 6; offered a bit more of an attacking option, did run forward with the ball...only to then pass it back
Biamou 5; not many touches. Only one of note when he brought it down in the area but touched it too close to Roche

Yep. I mentioned it in another thread, but forgot to make allowances for it here.

Edited to 7. It was a great clearance. I think Ellison would have scored otherwise.

Burge 10 - Outstanding performance. Didnt put a foot wrong.
Grimmer 6 - A typical Grimmer performance.
Stokes 6 - Defensively solid. Not so great going forward. He knows he hasnt got the pace to beat anyone
Davies 7 - One of the finds of the season. Solid and consistent
Hyam 6 - Slotted in well. I wasnt sure if he had paired up with Davies before.
Doyle 7 - Steady performance. Showed his experience. Amazing fitness level.
Kelly 6 - A bit quiet today
Shipley 6 - Didnt offer much
Bayliss 7 - Not his best game but still looked our main threat driving through the middle
JCH -1 - No football brain and cant keep possesion, then falls over
McNulty 6 - Didnt have much service to be fair.
SUBS:
Reid 5 - Needs balls played in front of him. Every pass to him meant he had to play it back.
Biamou 6 - Should have been on earlier

I thought Shipley was dreadful today shocking passing and corners, Mcnulty for all his plaudits last week was shite too, strikers never really got the ball to them Doyle was the only midfielder battling and looking to get the ball moving Burge never had a lot to do thank God !Davis was the pick of the defenders

Burge, 6 - one wayward kick, that aside, assured performance
Grimmer, 6 - not as attacking as I'd have liked him to be in the
Hyam, 7 - came in with a calm performance, credit to him after that Yeovil showing
Davies, 7 - dodgy mistake early on (I thought it was Hyam), but was really good from then on, seems to get his head or a kick on everything
Stokes, 6 - few times he looks out of sync going forward, but defensively no complaints and had a good shot on goal
Kelly, 7 - really liked his midfield work in the first half, plenty of tackling, good passing and so on
Doyle, 7 - tackled and block a lot of ball, denied a great goal by an equally good save
Shipley, 6 - it wasn't easy to maintain the performance levels of the last two games, thankfully isn't too hurt
Bayliss, 8 - my MOTM, drove us forward and looked threatening, but truthfully, looked like the only one who was 'going for it' in that second half
JCH, 7 - thought he played well, unfortunately a few of his flick ons weren't read well by his teammates, but he did dive quite cynically too, especially for that 'penalty' shout in the first (he was never going to get the ball, so may as well dived). At first viewing in real time, his chance looked like it was fired right at the GK, but in actuality, the GK pulled off a 'world,' for his control and volley, it deserved a goal
McNulty, 6 - one of his under par games, hopefully he's saving himself for the playoff campaign

Subs:

Reid, 6 - clearly under instruction to pass it backwards on the wing, played completely differently to his normal style
Biamou, 6 - again, when he had an opportunity on the edge of the area and he passed it backwards, it was obvious what was going on

Robins, 6 - thought the first half was entertaining, but I'm disappointed with our cynicism in the second half. But to use an analogy, in F1, you don't need to win every race, and sometimes settling for 4th-5th gets the job done as opposed to risk blowing the engine going for 1st.

Interesting to see that people still mark Burge down for "a wayward kick", yet Stokes' easy back-header that he put out for a corner doesn't go down as bad defending.
That said, everyone did what was necessary yesterday- I certainly wouldn't have wanted an injury caused by chasing the ball down, or making an unnecessary tackle. The final table is over 46 games, not just yesterday.
