The seasons getting closer. Who do we all want on the opening day?

Can’t look past Sunderland at home. Big crowd, bit of an edge to it and a free shot at a unknown quantity in this division who will either be world beaters or in for another season of turmoil.

Would be happy with any of Sunderland, Walsall, Portsmouth or Barnsley at home.

Barnsley is a very good away day, even when we were in the championship it was one of the best awaydays.

Ground near the centre, easy to get to by road or rail. Plenty of pubs in town centre. There's that bar in the leisure centre which caters well for away fans. Large away end and pretty much unrestricted seating/standing.

I did laugh a few years ago when we got them away in the cup, and so many people were calling it a "shit" draw. Notwithstanding the above points, the fact was they were also a division above us at the time!

Probably THE drunkest I have ever been in my life was Barnsley away the opening game of the season when we won 4-1.

Bang on the piss from the morning up until the match, followed by a bottle of Voddy between two of us on the way back on the coach, Red Lion, Painted Lady, then fell over on my front path, physically couldn’t get up, supposedly my neighbour came out and tried to help me up but couldn’t, vaguely remember managing to literally drag myself up where I proceeded to be found in my porch, fast asleep standing up, having pissed myself.

Might give it a miss this season......

Happy with Scunthorpe up first. They're always there or there abouts come May in recent years so it'll be a good test to see where we're at against a decent team.
