Ultimately I'm sure we have other targets than chaplin. This eisa thing probably needs to go through and then deals will happen. They pompey have come out in the media though, can you imagine chaplin being happy staying there now?
No way will Chaplin force a move unless he is told by Jackett he won't be starting a fair portion of games.
Decision time for KJ..

Telling players they can’t leave always ends in tears if they are forcing the move.

Look at examples in the past when players have been refused a move - always negative on the squad and the players form invariably dips.

Also robins seems hell bent on doing s Mowbray and trying 3 at the back. That means he will play one striker with probably Andreu or Bayliss begind him. So Biamou clarke Harris and ponticelli will not be starting if he signs a replacement unless he wants clarke Harris as a wide left option.

The formation idea is as worrying as the striker options in truth.

Share your concern about 3 at back. Latest formation fad. Not sure League 1 players are up to it - although Hyam might be. His purchases so far indicate Robbins is going 3 at back, enabling him to play Bayliss, Stirling and Andreu. Robbins is not perfect or else he would not be managing us - all this faith in him from some is unwarranted. The buying so far looks good, and I hope a striker can be added. However I fear we will see some disappointing results at the start of the season and be forced to revert to 4-4-1-1 some time in mid-September

I can see us reverting back after a few games

Will be interesting to see how he lines us up against Derby

Without having to read all this thread and the Chaplin one, where did this rumour start about us being interested in him?

He's not worth 3m.

He’s definitely worth £3 million, he’s 21 years old and would almost certainly get you between 20-25 goals in league one. We’ve just sold McNulty who’s never scored regularly above the 4th tier and is 4 years older for £1.5 million.

No league one club can pay £3 million and he’s scored in 8 of his last 38 appearances in league 1

Is that true, I think he's scored more than that, in league one at least? He had a difficult spell at Bolton, however he was played on the left wing, which is fairly well known.
I wouldn't say that only a league one club would be interested. £3 million doesn't even buy you an average championship player, never mind striker in the current market, and there'd definitely be clubs willing to pay that for him.
I know there is little consistency in transfer market value, but his pedigree, age, record would indicate he's worth at least £3 million.

He joined Blackburn in January for the remainder of the season and scored 9 so there’s no way that’s statistic is correct.

I said games not goals Tony

He has played 61 games at L1 level and scored 29 goals... however in his 54 games at Championship level he has only scored 7.
For me that is not a striker that is worth 3m... at least not upfront. With lots of add-ons maybe the whole package could be worth 3m but upfront we are talking similar numbers to Marc McNulty... which puts him out of our price range anyway!
