I think Davies will come in and maybe shove Willis to Right back as Sterling a bloody liability.

No one has found out what’s happened to Bayliss because he was a defo a miss last Satdee.

Hopefully he’ll be in.

Same side apart from Davies for Sterling and Bayliss for Kelly.

Bayliss got a knock on his ankle in training on Thursday, MR said he should be ok for Sunderland

Here's an interesting thought on 4 2 3 1 formation from today's Daily Telegraph talking about why Shaqiri was subbed although playing well.
"
The Liverpool manager wanted to look a 4-2-3-1 line-up with Shaqiri as the No 10, in the middle of that three behind the striker, and as eye-catching as the Swiss international had played Klopp noticed the space afforded to Southampton down the flanks and that Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum were in danger of being over-worked as the central midfield pair.

There was mitigation. Liverpool’s attempts to practice that new formation had been curtailed by winds, thunder and even lightning at training on Friday. They could trial it for just seven minutes, apparently.

So James Milner replaced Shaqiri, the formation was reverted to the usual 4-3-3 and Southampton did not have a shot on target until injury-time. Any sign, any flicker, any hope of a comeback or even any meaningful resistance was snuffed out. Liverpool were in total control and that is what the manager wanted. It was not about running riot.
"

Well if that 2 are overworked it's not the right formation for a 37 year old Doyle and an unfit Kelley

We used a midfield 3 at Mansfield and it worked pretty well. We sort of used an adaptation of a 4-3-3 out of desperation at the end of last season. I'd be interested to see:

Burge
Grimmer Willis Hyam Mason
Bayliss Doyle Shipley

And then any combination of Chaplin, Thomas, Jones, JCH, Andreu, Hiwula etc as the front 3.

A cracker. We win 3-2 in the best game of the season so far (he said, hopefully!)

That was a particular circumstance. Not every game. Pretty stupid comparison really?
Especially when you take into account Liverpool’s playing style

Willis Davies Hyam Brown

So you would break up our centre back pairing. And put Willis at RB despite him saying that he prefers CB and he has also never shown any form playing as a RB.
Also playing Davies who played in a team that conceded 3 to Arsenal u23's and 4 to Ipswich u23's. I like him but he hasn't exactly earnt the shirt.

It is all lies, managers don't do things like that during the game. No such thing apparently.

Any scout worth his salt would have his team target Sterling relentlessly on Saturday, all for giving him time and developing him but he either needs plenty of cover, which he wont get from Thomas or resting against a team that have just put 4 past a team similar to ourselves.

As long as Bayliss is fit we should have enough attacking threat in midfield to lose Sterling for Willis for this run of games. I also think Thompson played well on Saturday when he came on, would not be against a straight swap at RB with him replacing Sterling.

Not sure we gain much by switching Willis to RB. He’s never looked comfortable there, he’s pretty poor on the overlap and offensive side of things, plus we need his pace in the centre.

Leave Sterling there. I’m sure MR and AV will have been through the mistakes etc with him and he’s got to learn by playing games. Until Grimmer is fit, he’s our best option there.

We have a week to get over Bristol. The fact is we had a mare of a game after starting so well. Players know therefore that it's not the sort of thing they are likely to repeat week in week out. MR's has no doubt bent a few ears this week too.
They will be ready for Sunderland and desperate to win. Sunderland score late on a lot so we need players who will be solid at the back for the whole 90 minutes.
Bayliss has had a weeks rest and will be busting a gut for action with TV watching his every glowing move as a star in the making. Think he will rise to the occasion. Chaplin could fill his boots with a couple from Bayliss balls.
That said Sunderland have had a good start and are confident. I think it will be tight and nail biting to the end but we can win this and get back on track. We must be at our best, closing down constantly and attacking at speed.
2-1
