you're 'out of touch' and 'insensitive'.
I confess this is me.
Rambling time, anyway.
It may end up that it's my generation's racism, as younger people seem a lot more in-touch with different ideas of gender.
I honestly don't understand such things... and I find myself slightly uncomfortable saying that some gender disruption is as much society making it so, as it's close to people in the past saying homosexuality could be cured but... I do wonder how much is ideas being placed. Then again, the idea of 'gender' is a social construct (gender can be a lot more than just if you're a man or a woman, it's what makes a masculine and feminine gender). so maybe it's better to talk in terms of 'sex'. And if we do that, just because you identify with some feminine cultural traits doesn't give you the right to use a women's changing room.
That said, there are some things that are harmless. tbh I've no problem with gender neutral toilets or changing rooms... as long as the spaces are set up so that can maintain peoples' privacy. It always seems slightly mental to me, after all, when places have two toilets labelled male and female, yet only one toilet available in each. *They* can be for anybody with no hassle at all! And tbh anybody I've met who wants to declare themselves outside of the binary tends to be very much live and let live for those who want male and female spaces - there's a minority of nutters who want to invade others' privacy.
I guess we see how it all pans (ha, pun alert!) out in the coming years.
