….seems to be roughly where we are with home supporters just now. That on the back of a good run in a position where most of us didn't quite expect us to be right now I suspect.
Yes we've got terrible owners. Yes, there are those who won't ever go again until SISU are gone.
My question is do most people think this number is about right or is it disappointing ?
Personally I expected a few more. We're nowhere near Portsmouth or Bradford but is 12,000 really out of reach ?

In our first season in L1 after relegation from the Champ, we averaged about 10k. From memory it was similar in the other L1 seasons prior to relegation, although I think it tapered off a bit as the years went by.

We would have more ST holders if like Bradford our owners had the insight and charged £199. Saying that I can't see crowds rise much unless come the end of February we are pushing top 6 and looking at getting play off spot nailed on and then people might start turning up in the hope of another Wembley trip

dont be fooled by Bradford no way they had any more than 5/6000 last week when we were there.
I was a little disappointed on saturday and think that its simply the case that many previous regulars have got out of the routine, getting them back is a lot harder than we imagine

So why drop the price if you can't see crowds rising from it?

They didn't have that many there when they played us.

I'd probably suggest that's about right. I think we were the 3rd highest home attendance on Saturday in League One behind Bradford and Barnsley but ahead of Bournemouth according to Talk Sport. Unfortunately League One football is still a pretty unattractive proposition for the vast majority of fans, especially in the winter.

for some reason the concourse seemed more packed than usual Saturday, it would be mayhem if we were getting sell out crowds.

If we had dropped ST prices at start we would have sold at a guess 2000 more then we did making our gates higher all season. I for one would have got 1 instead of a match package.

Difficult to simply 'drop the price of STs' when budgets are made on the basis of those prices. There's a reason those prices are put in place, the club don't come up with them on a whim.

I don't think you can really argue about ST prices when it works out as £13 a game. That's decent value however you look at it. I have no idea what the solution is, but I don't think dropping season ticket prices will result in an influx of people attending. Sadly I think the only way we will see attendances rise is by us going up divisions. In reality, we probably need the attendances to rise to go up the divisions.

Perfectly fine if you can go every game but it makes it very dear for shift workers who can't make mid week games and now Friday night games due to wasps making us change days. The budget would have been fine with the extra tickets sold I know quiet a few people who never got season tickets due to the price. The club only need to get people going regularly to get that passion back and they will be hooked again. 1 season is all it would take to get quiet a few back as they have got the feeling of I will go when I want now after all these years away.

Would enough tickets be sold? They weren't last time.

We’d all love cheaper season tickets but if it meant less money for Robins then I’d pay what I do now thanks.
It all depends how sustainable it is. I too want him to have a budget, but I do love it when the ground is much fuller.

I realise it's chicken and egg and I'm not certain I trust our owners to be honest, but I'd love it on a rebate scheme where those of us all sign up as we do anyhow and then we get discounted back if so many more sign to a point that it hits eg £199 if we get to 15k season tickets but stages in between from 8k upwards (bearing in mind this season we have approx. 6,500-7,000

We did that a few years ago and it didn't get us any more sales. I think the rebate might have been the next season but it was still offered.

We just need to accept we're not a well supported club, we have 'fans' that will turn out for a big game but our hardcore just isn't there in such numbers.

I can't attend nearly every game because of the distance but a season ticket is still by far the cheapest way of doing it and takes away the hassle of sorting tickets.

Yeah, you can probably miss 3 or 4 and still pay less.

I think it's just where we are. 25% up on last season and that will grow if we continue to be at the top end. If we got promotion, bearing in mind local derby's bigger games and bigger away followings where do you think we'd be next season? I reckon 15k-16k minimum as an average attendance, even though I'd expect us to massively struggle in that league.

Even then it's just a DD coming out on payday that I don't really notice and means I get first allocation on away/cup tickets so I never miss out on games I want to go to. You don't have to shell out £300 in one go.

Don't do that! It's about 10% premium for paying dd. Get an interest free credit card and pay it off over the season then scrap it and get a new one for the next year.

Yeah think it's about £30 quid on top, much less hassle than applying for credit cards and stuff though!

Well at the same point last season the average home crowd was closer to 7500

So thats a big rise in one season.

Takes about 10 minutes for £30 - I doubt anyone needing to apply to spread £300 over a season is on £180 per hour so definitely worthwhile. Also it boosts your credit rating to obtain mortgages etc having a card and keeping it well below max value.

I think anything over 10k in this league is pretty good for this league
I wouldn't argue against that, but always hope as one of the bigger clubs in this league we should be pushing higher, but understand that's unrealistic at the moment. What I do find quite strange, say (big IF) we get promoted and we have 15-16,000 next season, do those extra fans just not have any idea what happened in the past seven or so seasons? Obviously some will be fans who go as and when they can or less frequently and are willing to make the commitment to a season ticket when playing in the Championship, but there must be some who are of the mindset 'I'm not going while they play in League 1/2', do they then just pick it back up with a crop of players they know nothing about? It's one of those things I just can't really get my head around.

You could argue that from this season to last, but other factors will be bigger away followings, more corporates, more neutral or casual fans and others who are coming back but have been disillusioned and still have a passing if less frequent interest. Beyond all of that, it's results on the pitch that always have the biggest bearing on attendances.

So working on your "guess" of 2000 more.
We've sold around 6000 STs at £300 a piece making that £1.8m.
Drop the price to £200 and sell an extra (your guess) 2000 and that only makes £1.6m. So we've sold more STs and made less money???!!! Where's the sense in that?

I don't 'buy' this dropping the ST prices will suddenly start an influx of people. I doubt an extra 2000 people would suddenly walk through the door. We have a very entrenched supporter base at the moment where they will not turn up regardless and the opposite that follow regardless. Most clubs our size have about a 5k floater base which will come and go where ours seems to be a lot lower. We should be getting more in my opinion due to the size of our club and city. Away support is different, that generally follows a day out rather than being anti SISU.

Blaming SISU is the soft option, I would just prefer people to say 'I cant be arsed' or my Saturdays have been replaced by <what ever they do now>.

We need to continually reward of ST holders for their commitment, I would like to see a ever reducing ST price based on years 'invested' in the club i.e. 1% taken off the ST price for each year you have brought one so it eventually gives people something quite significant to lose.

Excuses, excuses. Poor gates IMO. Look at Sunderland, relegated twice, ownership issues, look at Portsmouth at capacity or near as home game, steadfast support. Barnsley just a few thousand bigger population than Nuneaton yet bigger gates than us despite relegation.
If we were in the Championship the excuse would be "we are not in the Premier League"
Those that go have my utmost respect, those that say they support Coventry City but avoid the Ricoh like they would catch ebola have my contempt.
This team deserve better and the manager deserves better.

The gulf is even bigger as we lose his match package too.

I honestly think the North stand being closed works against us, they insist on selling every seat before
opening more blocks ‘they are the last tickets available for a reason normally front rows etc.
If they opened the North stand (even partially) particularly now the team are giving us something to get
Behind I think we would see an immediate up turn in attendances.
Would be good to have some home support behind the goal as well.
