Wasn't talking about parking though.I think it needs a bit of common sense and to decide whether it's about making money or cutting down on accidents.
Schools, accident blackspots then of course. Vans parked up trying to make a bit of money then it's nonsense.
It's a no brainer trying to stop people by schools driving silly.
Cameras to fine people doing 46 in a 40 on non pedestrian roads with no other cars about is a bit extreme and just for the money. (or to keep the speed awareness courses fully booked).

Cameras at traffic lights and then speed cameras.
You live in Keresley too don't you. Have you been hearing cars racing around at high speed late at night?
Hear them regularly. Sounds like Coundon way.
We seemed to have loads of cameras and now not so many at all.For - I live in a tiny village with lots of horse riders, dog- walkers, ramblers etc and no pavements - you'd be amazed how fast people take blind bends with no concern for what's around the corner.

It is and very much so.I think average speed cameras over say a mile or further is better than static camera.
The speeders will slow down at a speed camera day 40 in a 40 then speed off hitting 60+.
Agree on traffic light cameras you see so many going through on red! Seems to be increasing!
I think you'll find that it's drivers under 20 that account for disproportionately more fatal accidents than other age groups although over 80s are a bit more at risk.Making people do retests i think needs to be up there as well. The thought that there are people out there driving that learnt to drive over 50 years ago is terrifying!
My local favourite junction at the minute is the Leamington Road and Kenilworth road junction just down from Henry's school, the amount of people that screw that up is incredible!
Where were you at 4.55am this morning? For: they catch people speeding.
Against: they catch me speeding.
where i normally am at 4.55 in the morning :yawn:Where were you at 4.55am this morning?
Going the wrong way round a roundabout?where i normally am at 4.55 in the morning
Yep madness and baggy trousersYep. I am talking about lunacy that will get people killed as much as anything.
Nearly every day I see madness and it's basically people cutting corners (literally too) to save a few seconds time.
Never ever seen anyone deliberately drive the wrong way around a roundabout to save time before.
Yep, it was really early and hardly any cars about, but still.
Definitely deliberate. He slowed right down and had a look and then went the wrong way round in order to save driving around the entire roundabout.
The other crazy thing I saw was someone waiting to turn right at a traffic light. The oncoming traffic in the opposite direction, driving straight on obviously having right of way.
Have seen it before, the lights turn green and the car wanting to turn right zips in before the oncoming traffic sets off properly. Don't have much of a problem with that, but two days ago, a car zipped in front, just making it, but then a second car wanting to turn right zipped in too and missed the oncoming car by millimetres. The oncoming car having to break and I was right behind and had to break sharply too.
Madness.
Madness and soiled trousers more like.Yep madness and baggy trousers
On point 3, we say that about you most days on here.I have been driving both casual and professional (ex-bus driver) for just over 43 years. I may be getting on a bit, but I'm no slouch. I'd never had so much as a parking ticket in all my years of driving. I've received 7 annual "Safe Driving Awards" from the West Midlands Traffic Commission during my time as a bus driver. Yet just recently, (September), I was clocked by a speed camera travelling at 45mph in a 30mph zone going through a village with a mile straight road through it. I hadn't noticed any speed limit signs, but hey, that would be classed as 'driving without due care and attention'. So, I got hit with a hundred quid fine and three points on my once spotless licence. Am I upset? At first, yes. But since then, I realise that speed kills and I now set my speed limiter to match the road speed limits. If I hold anyone up because I now keep to the limits, then tough shit, because three things come to my mind. 1) I can't afford to keep paying £100, 2) I don't want any more points on my licence and 3) I could kill someone.
Not enough police cars on the road to put people off driving wrecklessly
I got caught by a cop (not a camera) doing 22 in a 20 zone. Since it was a school zone, fines were doubled.
It was an obvious trap, a long downward hill where even with your foot off the accellerator you'd exceed 20, and then the 20 limit sign right at the bottom of the hill and the cop parked in a hidden driveway.
There was a guy here that used to drive wearing a monkey mask because the law said you had to be recognizable in the photo.
He accumulated lots of tickets. I think they got him in the end, not sure how.

If you do get a parking ticket whilst driving it means you were going too slow.I'd never had so much as a parking ticket in all my years of driving..
On another driving topic: Honestly thing the UK should move towards Freeway rather than motorway. Nobody abides by the keep left rule and it makes traffic horrid.
