Not far from where I live. Not shocked though as the knife is used now to settle things. A group of youths come up to you in Bell Green daily asking you do want any drugs, some are menacing and hear they all carry blades, I'm a 64 year old bloke but they still ask !

Terrible news, my brother in laws family know him and say he was a lovely lad. Hope they catch those responsible and throw the key away

Hopefully whoever did it will be caught and punished accordingly. Would somebody really be stabbed just because of the postcode or more because of the gang they were in?

Either way, something needs sorting.

Saw it all cordoned off when I got back to our warehouse early this morning and with the heavy police presence was fearing the worse. Thoughts go out to his family. Worrying times.

Are schools doing anything to speak with parents and vice versa if they think their kid is in a gang?

Really needs to be more education about it to get it nipped in the bud. :(

A cowardly way to hurt somebody else too so it shows what they have about them

I follow a guy on Twitter called Paul Hannaford, ex gang member and drug addict who goes round the country speaking about the perils of being in a gang, (I know there are others doing it as well), but it's a talk all kids should get at least once.
As he says, if he can stop one kids following in his footsteps then it's worth it.

Do you get anything from your lad's school? Has he had any education about it or anything?

It's probably as easy as "do you want to make £50?". Not far off grooming them to be joeys and get involved in petty fights while the ones higher up put their feet up and count money.

It’s a different game now. Cunts will always be cunts. But cunts now carry knives as standard so the youngsters who aren’t as much of a c**t also carry knives. All of it can be avoided if you want to avoid it.
I won’t go too far with that as my completely innocent 2nd cousin was murdered with an axe in Liverpool a few years ago (national story) so you can’t avoid everything. But bravado will get you killed. Saw footage of a lad swinging with fists at 2 other lads with a knife the other day and he ended up dead. Just fucking run.

Edit: none of the above is in relation to what’s happened. Just my general take on some knife crime

It should start in primary schools. Not full blown presentations obviously but subtlety dropped in alongside the curriculum. It’s something my business is working on at present.

Wasn't that Joey Barton's brother?

It's madness how people can just stab somebody and think nothing of it. Nothing that wrong with a bit of fisticuffs to sort it like the gypsys do, knives are just cowardly.

I don't think social media helps much, there was nowhere near enough pressure on young lads to be as gangsta as they are now years ago. Now it's all wars on social media where one person says something and it goes on and on and on until it builds up.

He didn't have anything like that.
Luckily as much ad him and his mates can be a bit daft I don't think he or they would carry a knife.
He told me he was going to after he got mugged but it was just the shock and anger talking.
Been a parent is always a worry but these incidents ramp it up a bit.

You have to say that parenting plays a part in it as well. He's obviously talking to you about it. Fair play!

Needs to be something, like a speed awareness but with some real hard hitting brutal information about knife crime.

Awful to read this, RIP to the young lad.

I’ve mentioned this before on here but when I was in 6th form there was a spate of complaints about lads in 6th form speeding by school, someone arranged for the fire brigade to do a talk.
The fireman showed us footage of them dealing with RTA’s it was horrific! Still sticks with me this day, one was footage (all helmet camera filmed with sound) of a lad speeding on a country one he’d hit a tree, was alive just, but they knew the fact he was crushed was keeping him alive as soon as he moved he would and did die, his breathing was this “death rattle” was harrowing.
Another footage was of an old chap hit crossing a road by a car doing 80mph his head was that split his brain was out on the road.
Lots of other clips but it was the reality of it.

Something similar is needed to drive the ‘reality’ outcomes of carrying a knife

Whilst also bearing in mind that a ‘cheeky’ little stab to the arse could hit an artery and also kill someone in minutes.

It needs something like that. Also pointing out how people will try and recruit them into gangs and how it starts.

In a friend’s yr 11 class tragic. Doesn’t sound like he was in a gang

If not it's even worse (if that makes sense?)

Surely if it is such a local thing, people will know who did it and others will be covering up for them. Hopefully everybody who knows something but doesn't help the police will be sent down for conspiracy or something.

It doesn't help when these little twats start getting their phones out and filming incidents like this - 4 or 5 tossers beating up one young lad (or lass even). And next day it's all over Farcebook like some sort of badge of honour. Bastard little twats!

Damn right HH. You know the problem these days is the lack of role models for kids. Black, white, brown who is there to show that there are far better ways to earn respect.

Get them in a boxing gym 3 nights a week.

If any of them have issues, they sort it there. If they want to persist, they go in with the best boxer at the club for 6 rounds as a sparring partner as punishment.

If they parents aren't going to get any discipline from them then put them in an environment like that where they get beasted if they start mouthing off. Even if it's just making them do 20 pressups, 20 star jumps, 20 situps, 20 squat thrusts every time they act up.

Fuck this postcode gangster culture and the pricks who promote it robbing youngsters of their lives. Nothing less glamorous than a grieving family. Rest in peace young man.

My son made one attempt to copy those stupid pretend gang signs once and I tore him a new one verbally. Ended there

Thing is, and it's not in the same league as the family f the lad that's died, but he's caused his own family a world of grief.
Remember when Neville Staples grandson died and there was a huge anti knife message that day at the Godiva, but unfortunately it was a crowd of mainly middle aged people like myself so preaching to the converted.
We've got to start getting the message home to these youngsters.
I thought @I_Saw_Shaw_Score post seemed like a good starting point, hard hitting about the consequences.

If this lad was innocent and not in a gang etc he shouldn't be put in the same bracket as that other lad and the uproar about Godiva. He had previous of robbing people at gunpoint, no point crying about it if they haven't done anything to get him out of that lifestyle. (Comes across a bit harsh but if somebody is going to hold people up with a gun, something is going to end up coming back to them).

Agree about the course type of thing. My daughter is at primary school and learns about internet safety (unheard of about 10 years ago). The gang / knife thing should be part of normal education, ram the message home. Show them some dead bodies, show them people hanging themselves in prison because they can't take being a bitch.

Extremely good point CVD.

It's bullshit like this that we can see through but poor kids swallow every word

Why are 14 / 15 year olds from Coventry rapping about Obama's Men / High from the spliff / People will get shot?

All they need to do is put a GPS tracker in every one of those chavvy man bags that gets sold in JD sports and they will know where they all are.

Fucking idiots. If that was my lad he'd be getting a thick ear. However, I've always said, you get a bunch of kids off any estate in the UK and put them on the apprentice and they'd wipe the floor with the morons they have on there, they just need to get their priorities right and be pointed in the right direction.

That's the thing though, who's job is it to give them guidance? Parents / school / government etc?
