We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

Being Scottish New Years is always a big thing but never been the case down here in England. Used to work in a bar and Christmas was a great time to work, everyone was in a great mood, drinks all round but a week later everyone turns into arrogant twats who want twice the amount of alcohol in a short period of time.

Having two little kids we don’t really celebrate NYE but even before that we used to just do house parties with friends

I just never get the same vibe at New Year as I do for Christmas.

Christmas has so much going on and New Year always just seemed to be about drinking.

Like most things it's become so overhyped as to become meaningless. Always relieved to get to today which feels more significant as a fresh start

Or remembering lost ones they never bothered with when they were alive

Not a fan of new year but my girlfriend loves it so I have to pretend to enjoy auld lang syne and shit like that. It always just feels so forced

Yeah, same here. Always seems forced and lacking a bit of sincerity, whereas with Christmas I mean to send my auntie a useless present.

Never been that fussed, even when younger the taxis were silly amounts, pubs and clubs charged silly amounts to get in.

Agree did the Colly about 4 years in a row between 16-19 but was always £10+ in, £3/4 a drink, rammed, everyone more pissed than usual due to pre drinking more etc, NYE only ‘lasts’ 5 minutes from about 23:59 til 00:04 an that’s it nobody knows what to do after!

More than happy to give going out a wide berth!

I was out for the count before 10 last night was woken at midnight by fireworks no issue but loads went off at 10:45pm & 03:05am very random!
