I think he would be worth signing, he had a great scoring record at FGR albeit in the national league and league 2.

FGR paid a fair bit to Dagenham & Redbridge for him then bought out the sell-on percentage after Daggers almost collapsed financially last year
I would expect a few clubs will be interested so there could be a bidding war

From Monday morning, Christian Doidge is back with FGR. We've taken the decision to recall him after his loan agreement expired last week amid continual contractual breaches by Bolton Wanderers.
It became clear to us that Bolton entered into a contract to loan and then buy Christian last August without the means to honour it, and perhaps the intention to do so as well. They haven't even paid his wages for the last four months (we have).
It's not just FGR that have been let down badly by Bolton, but Christian too.
Bolton's Chairman, Ken Anderson, made a lot of promises on the last day of the transfer window, both to Christian and FGR, and has kept none of them. This is all his work and from talking to Ken he feels immune from the consequences - but some of these promises are written in legally binding contracts, and we'll be pursuing them.
When the dust settles, we'll talk to the EFL about how they regulate clubs like Bolton. They already regulate the club to a degree, controlling all TV monies to make sure that football debts get paid. Hard not to wonder whether the league could also have a role in approving the terms of any contracts entered into - to make sure that they are actually within the means of the club. We had no way to know, but the EFL should have the inside view on that.
And finally (for now...) - Disappointing as it is to see this go pear shaped, both for FGR and Christian, I'm also excited by the prospect of the second half of the season with Christian back with us. I'm sure all FGR fans everywhere will join me in welcoming him back

Surely Forest Green will be very much out of pocket now, a deal was agreed to buy Doidge who’s contract was in favour of the club and held value being reportedly a seven figure sum
Now 5 months later he’s closer to the end of his contract and worth less as a result while also failing to make a great impact at championship level so value has decreased a lot not to mention the likelihood the players own cost relocating his family potentially.

You have to wonder why on earth did Bolton agree to go ahead with this transfer in the first place. They must’ve known even in the summer that there was no way they could afford the transfer payment?

Then again, surely in this sort of deal the onus is on the selling club to carry out appropriate due diligence. Bolton's financial problems are widely reported, why did FGR believe they could afford £1m?

In hindsight they probably should've put in more checks and balances into the deal to ensure that it was an airtight contract. But hindsight is a wonderful thing so it’s irrelevant to make such a comment as situations such as this are a rarity in football. No blame should be put on FGR. Bolton are a shambles and deserve everything that comes their way for doing this. They went ahead with the deal knowing full well they couldn’t afford it and it’s cost both FGR and Doidge.

From what the FGR chairman said on the radio there was no initial payments. Os I think payments began upon signing for Bolton full time and then the transfer fee was staggered over a period of time. His language basically suggests Bolton paid bugger all.

I've seen Doidge play quite a few times over the past 3 or 4 years
Although he works really hard he's the type of forward who needs 5 chances to get one goal
FGR in particular played to his strengths with the way they set up for games
He doesn't have much pace and relies on bravery and getting into dangerous positions, especially from set pieces
We've probably got one or two like that already so even if he wasn't ineligible I doubt he'd be the answer for us
And he wouldn't come cheap

Its interesting we were hours from not being able to continue as a club and this could come again but we are not seeing anything in the national press about our plight for a ground - we were also docked 20 points in total whereas Incester won the premier league and Portsmouth are now topping league 1 - i think while we were a scapegoat not sure all the rules are applied all over or half the football league would fall apart !

My best guess is Bolton made out that their current situation was a ‘temporary problem’. Strange how it took so long for FGR to click especially when they must’ve known a Registration Embargo (which Bolton are currently under) could’ve potentially been looming as everyone who reads the football news knows Bolton’s history with failing to make payments. But unless FGR are completely gullible I’m guessing Bolton just kept on making false promises to them.
