I bet there's not.
Why should they be bothered?
Just bide their time let it run its course and start again.

Rinse / Repeat......
All depends if people are gullible enough to keep falling for ‘but SISU’. If they aren’t there will be more questions for the council to answer and they aren’t doing a very good job with that so far.

Let’s not forget in a matter of days the council line has changed from there never being any mention of a new stadium, to there was talks but not about specific sites, to there was talks about a specific site but nothing submitted, to we’ve had a master plan submitted.

Where will the ever moving council goalposts go next?

The master plan wasn't very long....

It might be 5 pages next week.

Wow you actually believe there's gunna be a new stadium. There isn't. Sisu are bluffing.

Has planning permission actually been submitted? Any of the correct procedure been followed?

Maybe there won't be a new stadium, at least sisu are trying to move and get an arrangement sorted

Council once again coming out with moves to distress us

Let's not play stupid and pretend the council couldn't make things very difficult for the club if they wanted to. 6 weeks for an email reply wasn't it?
Of course they can...put anything SISU related in the slow lane unless it suits them doesn't take a lot does it? That is something different though.

Coventry City Council Planning Committee
"Agenda item 1: So we've had a MasterPlan submitted about building a 20,000-seater football stadium on the site of the former Woodlands School on Broad Lane".
"Who's sent that in then?"
"A company called SISU Capital Ltd"
"Tell them to do one"
"Next item ..."

Before it even lands on the Planning team, they'd need to enter into a forward contract to agree a price for the property. If planning doesnt consent, SISU can back out, back to square one, if planning consents, all systems go.
I would probably wager that those 2 sides of A4 were the proposals for the forward contract.
So to say SISU need to do a full analysis at this stage is not true. The ball is still in the council's court...

Yeah, as the council also own the land there's the other aspect other than just planning too.

It said in the last open statement last week.

The Council is the owner of the site in question. Councillor Duggins skates around this point referring only to the Council's position as planning authority.

SISU is trying to engage with it as the owner of the target site. The Council, however, has dragged its feet for a year now and little progress has been made.

If the landowner of the site – a site that would appear to offer many opportunities for re-development – is not interested in engaging commercially with SISU, then there is little that SISU by itself can do.

Looks like he has done that again.

Leader of the council George Duggins says the planning process has not been followed correctly

Will be interesting to see the next statement...

As much as I want this to happen, a new stadium, fuck wasps up, fuck the CCC off completely, CCC will not want a 2nd major stadium in the city unfortunately, as it would fuck wasps up and leave an empty Ricoh.
It won't be a major stadium. It will be 10-12k & a makeshift cross between Bescot & Kassam. I agree your point about not wanting to risk a ghost Ricoh Stadium though

One issue I do have with the prospect of a new stadium is what will it be used for for the other 330 odd days of the year that SISU were saying would bring in revenue all year round? Cannot see it being used for concerts or exhibitions with the RICOH already in situ.

Could it maybe be adapted so that it can also hold events such as speedway in the summer months to bring the Coventry Bees back to the city?
And that's why its a non starter , because in five years time the plan would for city to be championship/ prem Wasps would be gone or small gates , if Sisu sold ccfc , the new owners who ever they are, they would need a ground the size of the ricoh to maximise revenue ,and so the cycle would begin again, even if they had acce

What happens if half way through the new build, sisu win the case and can pick up the Ricoh cheaper than the cost of the new stadium, they would have one and half stadiums to sell

There has to be a process and done correctly. If there are doubts about the suitability of the Woodlands site but there are other possibilities then the CCC should let sisu know, I can’t see sisu saying it’s Woodlands or nothing. What difference is that site from any other to them.

For those that are bothered the following provide relevant information

Town and Country Planning Act 1990

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015/595/pdfs/uksi_20150595_en.pdf

Pre-application advice scheme | Pre-application planning advice | Coventry City Council

The Coventry Council website shows the following for pre Applications. (There are also fees to be paid £2000 plus Vat for a large development)

Pre-application information requirements
We will require a minimum level of descriptive and illustrative material. It should be proportionate to the scale and stage of development of the proposals.
The cumulative size of the electronic documents submitted should not exceed 20 Mb; otherwise the authority may not be able to forward the documents to statutory consultees effectively.
For all proposals we will require:
  • The relevant fee or receipt of payment
  • A full description of the proposed works (minimum requirement)
  • A location plan identifying the site and its boundaries
  • An indicative site layout plan
Other documents which will be useful and ensure a robust response include:
  • Other illustrative material, if appropriate, such as sketch drawings, models,
  • to describe the proposal. Where known these should include floor plans,
  • elevations, adjacent buildings, access, servicing, parking arrangements, crime prevention measures, means of escape, and the initial architectural approach and materials to be used,
  • A draft planning statement (if available),
  • A plan showing the existing site area, existing buildings and other features, for example location of trees,
  • Details of the existing floor space broken down and how it is used at the moment,Visual materials that will help us to understand the existing site or building better (for example, photographs, models),
  • Photographs of the immediate surroundings,
  • A breakdown of affordable housing/private housing for residential schemes,
  • Details of the ownership of the land within the site

The 1990 Town & Country Planning Act requires public consultation before planning application (see section 61W)

Anyhow, when the stadium is built it will need essentials like a Micro-Brewery (like Spurs), if not, I'll be NOBM...
I like the concept of the Spurs stadium in that it's meant to get people in early and leaving late. It would be good for the fan as you can head straight there and settle into one of the boozers early just needing to go to your seat a few minutes before kick off, no messing about working how long to leave it, and the prices there look good for London. For the club they obviously have people spending more cash in there to generate revenue. It's not like most grounds where there is a hut at your bit selling beer and crisps, the whole thing is open and you can walk round to a bar (with proper chairs and tables, tv on etc) or a food outlet that suits.

As you may notice I've been reading about the Spurs stadium recently.

Ha yea. SSNews are all over it today showing you around the stadium, microbrewery and bars etc.
The bar behind the huge 17500 seater stand is as long as the goal line!

Hopefully it's all part of a process to get out of an impasse without losing face. It will show whether CCC seriously want CCFC to stay in Coventry.
What matters is the future of CCFC not an opportunity for idiotic gloating

was it pre-planning advice the club were submitting and enquiry for though ? or was it an enquiry about the land , its availability & cost... we just dont know do we.

Id say the council have the opportunity to put the pressure back on the club here , and declare that they are open to discussion for the purchase of the site and are willing to engage it public discussions about the possibility of planning for a stadium.

Which of course is exactly what the council have done for Wasps with regard to building a hotel on car park c.

Don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect similar treatment for the football club.

Which is why the SISU plan is suspect, especially in the absense of detail they have made public.
What's the betting they are simply creating adverse conditions for their competitor in order to acquire the Ricoh.
If they were serious they would not put up with delays and would be folowing up frequently, the fact they appear to have put up with inordinate delays says something about the attitude of SISU towards getting their project off the ground.

Pretty straight forward & any compedent architeect/engineering practise would be quite used to complying with.
