Instead of looking at the negatives ( and there many ) look at the positives of playing at St.Andrews - there are a lot of positives too.
1. A proper football stadium opposed to the soulless Ricoh.
2. A decent pitch to suit our style of football.
3. Much better transport links for those living outside Coventry.
4. A lot more pubs to visit.
5. Our club didn't go out of existence.
6. We have a brilliant manager with ambition.
My plea to all those who are refusing to go to St.Andrews ( and I respect your view even if mine differs ) is to please just try going to St.Andrews, put your differences to one side and give it a go ?

With only a few thousand in I can very much see St Andrews being soulless too. Any empty stadium is.
And imagine only a few thousand there and us losing.
The way some talk on here I think they would be happy never going back to the Ricoh, even if that meant just playing in another city forever and a day.

I don't think I am alone in having a dislike for the Ricoh, wrong location, a concrete bowl and a crap pitch. Maybe 50 plus years of being a season ticket holder at Highfield Road makes me feel this way. My preference is for a new smaller stadium with stands closer to the pitch.

A stadium sized similar to Doncaster’s or Rotherham’s would suite us better imo.

Have to agree. After half a season we had created more chances then anyone except Luton, we just couldn't put them away.
Not sure how much you can blame the pitch for that.

Actually I think it did. Im sure MR on occasions has said because the ball was bobbling around so much players were trying to get it under control before shooting.
If they hit it whilst it was bobbling it could go anywhere, and then they would be up for abuse from the crowd. Obviously top world class can allow for a bobble and still get pretty much on target, but these arent that level.

As a last resort Ricoh better than not having a club at all. I have only once felt any real atmosphere - the first game back v Gillingham, reminded me of the atmosphere at HR during the JH era.

I must say, this all makes me feel a little ill at ease, all this bigging up someone else's ground 20 miles away and totally dissing our home stadium for its terrible pitch, its soulless atmosphere, its concreteness, the surrounding area etc. etc.
Bottom line is we need to get back there and back as soon as possible.
IF there ever was to be a new stadium that could be at least 5 years away and this Birmingham love-in isn't going to last forever and the longer we are away the more fans we will lose.
As it stands, the Ricoh is the ONLY option in Coventry.
I am not comfortable with the notion that Birmingham's ground is wonderful and full of positives and the Ricoh, all negatives only.
It's IN Coventry and playing there should be our priority

I can criticise the Ricoh in isolation. Would rather we were at another ground... in Coventry.
Given the choice though, between Birmingham and Ricoh, it's Team Ricoh for me. You often say the atmosphere in HR was poor often - it was. But to me it was still mostly better than the Ricoh. The same applies here though. Even if the Ricoh's atmosphere was poor, St Andrews with two stands open is not going to be a seething hotbed of passion!

I don't think it's a case of everyone saying they're glad to be out of the Ricoh, it's more people looking at the positives of a shit situation.

And I don't have a problem with that,but it is the positives of the situation whilst totally slagging off every aspect of the Ricoh I don't care for.
There are a lot of people out there heartbroken we have left our city again and obviously the vast majority of City fans will not be attending St. Andrews.
I would guess the last thing they want to hear is how wonderful St. Andrews is and how crap the Ricoh was.
With that sort of stance you could be forgiven in thinking that some would be quite happy to stay in Birmingham permanently if the only other option is always only the Ricoh.

Still though, speaking objectively the Ricoh is terrible whereas St Andrews has a lot of good things about it. Still rather be in the soulless concrete bowl we call home but am able to see the flaws in it.

Just wondering if people WOULD actually choose St. Andrews over the Ricoh. Some seem to prefer it right now, but would you accept the situation and prefer it on a long term basis?

Regretfully, if long term, the Ricoh even though I do not like it. I could stomach St Andrew's for a year or two.

Yeah,I know it has flaws. HR had loads of flaws too, one being some of the views were really awful. I endured three seasons of having a pillar blocking out half the goal in the West End.
And fans were always moaning about the atmosphere too. Constantly.

Back to the Ricoh, as much as I've criticised it, and I stand by my criticism of it, it is still in Coventry.
Obviously owning the Ricoh or our own ground elsewhere is the ideal situation but that seems unlikely at the moment.

Ricoh. Although I would feel more comfortable in Birmingham for a few years if I could see progress on a new stadium. 10/15 is too long.

I dislike the Ricoh immensely for many reasons, and if there was another option in Coventry I'd be all over it, but I think the atmosphere thing is a bit of a myth. It can be flat of course, but there have been many occasions when it has been excellent.
So often over the past 8 or 9 years I've gone to away games and been amazed at how lifeless the home support has been and how completely devoid of atmosphere grounds can be when hosting lower league football. There are very few exceptions to be honest.

Your football day (from what I understand) is walking to the ground, watching the game then walking home. For a lot of others it involves the pre and post match experience. People could have moan about the view or atmosphere at HR with friends in a decent pub on the way to or from the ground and inject some life in to the city centre.

I actually think the atmosphere at the Ricoh is often better than most of the league 1/league 2 grounds we've been to over the last couple of years though that's not really a ringing endorsement.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen a supporters club place built on the waste ground the other side of the train track at the Ricoh
