Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me hopping onto your board - if so, feel free to delete - just looking to garner opinion on Bayliss following us signing him earlier today.. I see twitter is pretty fiery over him with some drawing comparisons between him and Maddison so thought i'd jump on here and see what you thought.

Best of luck for the season ahead

Solid player, no where near the talent that Maddison is though.

Has an ability to drive through players very well. Didn’t shine last year but was class in league 2.

A bit of an unknown

He's an excellent player who I am very sorry to see go.

Started off like a house on fire in league 2 faded last season probably because of his age..but not scared to tackle and when he is concentrating he is a great player, makes a few dreadful passes so i would guess thats just his age again but very good potential

He is not at the same level Maddison was when we sold him.

In general last season he was often poor and anonymous for a lot of games BUT, it is clear to everyone he has massive potential but he needs to be a bit more consistent, but he has come out with some great runs or pieces of skill for us.
Personally i see him being a top-end championship player, low level prem player in years to come, will never be on the same level as Maddison though IMO.

Wish him all the best.

Ditto. Was brilliant in League Two. Developed his game in League One last season but some were expecting him to be Maradona in his first full season. Overall he was much better than we expected and that’s a very bright sign. Has a cutting edge that many of his type of player lack. Good luck to him but I’m v sorry to see him leave.

Not sorry to see him leave, only because I feel our midfield needs something different to get promoted. Especially wont be sorry if we can use some of the cash to get Bright in.
Had an excellent breakthrough season in league 2, I was disappointed in him last season. But then at times, you have to remember his age.
There is no doubt that he has ability, he will make it to a top end Championship/lower end Premiership club, but not on the same level as Maddison.

Thanks for your responses - really pleased to have got the business done as our window had been relatively quiet until last night - more out than in anyway..

Must admit a bit of envy when looking at your youth set-up - we don't have an u23s team at North End currently which I believe makes it harder for our young players to progress.

He's only played one game against Premiership opposition, Stoke, and he ran the show. Should do well for Preston before going on to bigger and better things.

You’ve got yourself a great young prospect, for not a lot of money.
I hope he does well and continues to progress. He should go on to be a fans favourite.

Can only echo what everyone else has said - a good player, who should make the transition to championship then probably lower prem.
Found it difficult last year, but might be down to very little break between his debut season and second season.
Probably more suited to the championship than level one.
Comparisons with Maddison are unfair on bayliss - but given time, I hope he develops to his potential.
My daughter is gutted - her favourite player who she accompanied as a mascot last season!

I’d advise you to watch his goal against Notts County in the play offs in league 2 - has a good eye and is dangerous driving forward.

When he first broke through he was man of the match against Stoke whilst we were league 2.

Won’t be the next James Maddison - but I good signing nevertherless

If you want a realistic non bias opinion this probably isn't the place.. Some of our fans think he is on par with Zidane tbh.

Reality is... Hes tall, pretty quick actually quicker than he seems.. Can take a man on and can play various positions across the midfield.
His passing game is below where it needs to be, doesn't take a crack enough and as a result doesnt score many.
He's not the type of player to get stuck in, but has Done on occasion in the past.

Has potential to progress his ability, my opinion... Why on earth would a club pay 2 million for bayliss when they could get enobakhare cheaper and he is far far superior

Either way good luck to him

74 games
9 goals
7 assists

Really like him. If he fulfils his potential you've nabbed a bargain.

Great man to drive forward with the ball at his feet if he develops his game even further he could go to the prem

Whilst I don’t disagree with the sentiment - talking of non bias.... if that was the case wouldn’t we have built Burge up to be the next Buffon?

Bayliss is good, flattered to deceive at times in league one but remember it was only his second season.

He will go on to play premier league football

Good promise, can lose the ball in dangerous places and most of the folk comparing him to maddison slagged him off last year

He is a good player and talented. It will be a step up for him so might not be an instant success. But certainly has the potential to establish himself at that level.

You are seriously funny, don't rate Bayliss but rate a load of new signings you've never seen.

Again we can talk about the pedigree /experience of the players we've signed, Dutch top flight, championship level experience and Premier league academy graduates who were highly rated... Can't we.
You are suggesting the players who we've let go which mostly have only experience playing footballing in league 1 and 2 are better?? Or am I missing something.

My opinion on bayliss is perfectly rational, and absolutely correct... Wouldn't you agree

His stats back up my argument on goals assists, he is good at driving forward and taking a player on, but lacks with his passing and vision... Did he get stuck in Alot? Missed that myself.. I base my opinion on watching over 40 league games last season.... You?

I would argue its yourself that's pretty funny, and it's been really easy picking apart your arguments... No offence

I don't think he kicked on as much as I expected him to last year, not entirely sure why whether it was the way we played or teams targeting him etc, but certainly has some potential, whether that's unlocked time will tell.Good with both feet, has a decent shot, he has a footballing brain and the attribute I like best about him is when at pace he appears to glide past players with ease. Not always on it and needs to add consistency, but if the reported £2m is the fee then I think that's a fair price and you're the right type of club for him to showcase himself in the next couple of seasons if he has aspirations of a Premiership move.

Not sure he's got it right abourt Preston being a "massive" club !!!! we were easily as big if not bigger when we last played them in the Champ but we've gone backwards under this current load of chimps ( oops sorry, owners) and others have either moved on or not got worse. Good luck to the lad, who wouldn't want to get out of SISU's control??? PS I feckin haye Deepdale, never seen us win there forever.

Good player - lots of potential. Nowhere near as naturally talented as Maddison though.

Can carry the ball but also can be dispossessed quite a lot. Also capable of playing great passes and through balls but also the odd shocker and should keep it simple. Basically, looks great when it comes off, can be frustrating when it doesn't.

Isn't great at defensive side, but not awful by any means so would be more suited to an advanced midfield role.

Wasn't as influential last season but was a division higher and hadn't had much of a break close season so I think was a bit tired, mentally more than physically.

Think the Championship will suit his game more than L1 and playing at a Championship side where he'll be getting games will be a much better progression for him. I think you'll be impressed overall.

Will be a very very good player. I can see him moving to a Prem club for 30m+ within a couple of years. You’ve got yourselves a steal.
