Don't fancy us tomorrow at all. Oxford are a better side than their start suggests. Would take a draw now, and I rarely say that in this league.

They may have made it past Championship opposition in the League Cup on Tuesday evening, which should give the U’s a timely boost, but their league form is a tad worrying. Oxford go into Saturday’s game having lost each of their last three League One matches and thus need a reprieve. In contrast, Coventry go to Kassam Stadium unbeaten in five, three of which they’ve won.

When losing to Blackpool, Oxford were undoubtedly unlucky, as they were much the better team, though instead of using that performance as a platform from which to build, Karl Robinson’s men have taken a few steps in the wrong direction. They were poor defensively, when throwing away a lead against Burton, while they struggled massively to match Bristol Rovers for attacking power last weekend, as they lost by three goals to one on their travels.

At the start of the campaign, Oxford looked reasonably useful at the back, but after two sloppy defensive efforts, whereby they’ve surrendered seven goals and 3.46 expected goals, defensive improvement is very much needed.

In contrast, Coventry have been very, very tough to get at this season. They did concede three goals away against Portsmouth a few weeks ago, but they had two players sent off, while that is the only time that they’ve been breached during the current campaign. The Sky Blues go into Saturday’s game having kept four clean sheets in five games, which must be applauded.

The way in which Coventry have not just avoided conceding but have stopped teams from creating should also be applauded. In addition to their four clean sheets, Mark Robins’ men have surrendered a very pleasing average of 0.76 expected goals for, which tells us that teams are finding it tough to make offensive headway against Saturday’s visitors.

In all honesty, from a betting point of view, this is one of Saturday’s less-appealing games, though those looking to get involved are pointed towards ‘Coventry to Win & Under 3.5 Goals’. The visitors aren’t the biggest scorers, but they have given less away than Oxford – they’ve given less away than most teams – while they simply look more solid all round. By adopting the same pragmatic approach that allowed them to beat Gillingham by a goal to nil last week, the Sky Blues, who’ve conceded just 11 shots on target in five games, can continue to move in the right direction by securing another relatively low-scoring win.

I just watched both of those videos and feel like I have learnt something today. Cheers Philosorapter. I was mesmerised by the last one, wouldn't it be awesome if someone did that for the top 20 teams in English football league history.

Should be easy to do that from league position if the data is available week by week. I wonder if statto.com does exports

This will be a tough game but looking forward to it too - based on injury feedback think Robins may go with the following.

Marosi
Dabo
McCallum
Rose
MacFadzean
Kelly
O'Hare
Shipley
Godden
Jobello
Hiwula

Subs: Wilson, Hyam, New RB, Westbooke, Kastaneer, Bakayoko, Bremang

I'm quietly confident about this one, feel like we might see a better all round performance and a couple of goals.

2-0 city.

Think Oxford have just started slowly, i expect them to do well over the season. Let's just hope it takes then 1 more game to click.

Yes, its an approximation of playing strength based off the results of other playing strengths. These can form a table which should be somewhere around the league table..

The more games played the more accurate it gets. The same argument can be made for the league table though.

The more games played in the league table the more accurate the table will become with players moving up and down when they play everyone with varying points or league position.
Now I know why I've never won the prediction league.
As for the Oxford game, I'm going for a 1-1 draw, but don't count on it.

Going to Oxford today.

Unfortunately it's for a two day break to celebrate our wedding anniversary and not watch the football.

Enjoy SBA. Going for a 3-1 win to us.

If you've not been before, have a gander around the Natural History museum (free); well worth a visit. Doesn't sound very romantic, but I can recommend it. Nice big park for a romantic stroll too, right near City centre (I get a % from trip advisor!)

Try the cafe on top of the Ashmolean, or the upper level of the new Westgate, some good places there to eat and drink. Get into the Varsity bar in the covered market, a really buzzing place.
If you have time pop into Woodstock - have a pint in the Star, my favourite pub.

If the wife likes shopping get to Bicester outlet village. About 20 mins from Oxford and full of the things women like. Probably hell for you but the women love it there.

City to win 2:1.

If you go to BV, get there after 5pm otherwise on a Saturday you will end up queuing to get into some shops - it's madness!!!!!

Trying something new tonight. Getting on a plane in about 2 hours, will be in mid-air for the whole match. I’ve bought the match on ifollow, going to purchase the on-board WiFi and hope for the best everything goes as planned! Even downloaded windscribe, just in case! Wish me luck!

Thanks Sbarcher. Are they suitable for a 10 month old baby?

No, a pint isn't suitable for a 10 month old!

Just like the Portsmouth game; everyone is keen to big up Oxford, but let’s not forget we are a very strong team.

They have Ben Woodburn, so? They might be saying the same about our £750,000 proven goal scorer, or the ‘wonderkid’ we signed from Villa.

We’re on form, and despite Watford, should be full of confidence.

2-0, Godden and O’Hare.

Reported they are missing Brannigan and Taylor today though. Hoping that weakens them considerably.
