Seems we are agreed that his ceiling of potential is significantly lower than JMs. In terms of the Preston move failing. Next season Christmas time will be the time to really judge.

That's a shame for him, although with the Sunderland scouting and FIFA streaming at least he's got a backup plan.

Adam Armstrong now plays for Tony Mowbray's Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
He's scored 9 goals in 48 appearances (league and cups) for them, so hardly prolific.
Clearly there is a big difference between League 1 and the Championship.

Also part of a defence that haven't conceded in over 10 hours of play - not bad for someone who "can't defend".

Just for the record, I'm not related in away way to him!

Elliott Ward has signed for Cambridge United until January after being without a club since being released by Notts County at the end of last season

Bayliss might get his place on the bench for Prestons game tomorrow vs Brentford due to a glut of injuries.
Training with 1st team squad today.

I don’t think Preston actually have a development team so he’ll always be with the first team but he was on the bench in their last league game against Forest

Despite the BBC preview stating that Preston had an injury crisis, TB didn't even make the bench again.

Popped to FGR vs Colchester,

Ben Stevenson and Frank Nouble were playing for Colchester.

We definitely cashed out well on Stevenson, they were over run first half by FGR, came back a bit in the second but he was fairly anonymous.

Frank was same old, same old. Just seems lazy. Had one nice move where he flicked on a ball to put someone through. I'd put him in the wasted talent category.

FGR are my local team, every year they give 2 free tickets and shirt to all Year 3 school kids in the area, great gesture.

As much as their owner gets ripped to shreds imagine having someone with a clear vision running Cov. Rovers look a very good team this year, they pass the ball well and are not the average league 2 lumpers. They will be difficult to beat in the upcoming Cup match

Anyone with half a football brain could see that he wasn’t going to make the grade, but as usual the “one of our own brigade” came out in force thinking he was the next David Silva.

When Stevenson first broke into the team I thought he looked a really good player, spraying passes and an eye for goal too. He was injured for a while and never really got his early form back. Hard to understand how he could fade so badly.

Bit of revisionism going on here for me, he looked a very talented player when he came in. Being in a terrible side seemed to affect him and I’m not sure in hindsight he had the mentality to handle it.

Agree and Brentford came in with 3 bids for him in that January so to say anyone with half a football brain could see he wouldn’t make it is just rubbish really

Is it? Ok. We’ve seen them all before coming into the first team in a blaze of glory and as it’s a new face/something different people go over the top being “one of our own”
Same with Haynes et al, had a reasonable debut, one or two reasonably good games after that and we all know the rest.
Nothing to see here.

Yes it is rubbish because you said anyone with half a football brain could see he wasn’t going to make it thus implying Brentford’s management and owner who made 3 bids to sign him know little about football which I don’t think is the case considering the success they’ve had recently

Luke Thomas playing for Barnsley against Leeds on Sky. Chaplin on the bench.

So with our 5 players last season who have moved onto the Championship only Thomas has been a regular starter. Sterling has played one League Cup game, Bayliss has played two League Cup games and Bright has played one League Cup game with 48 minutes in the Championship.

And you think that he would be competitive at that level then-right you are.
Remind me where he’s playing again?.....,
