Bad result today purely down to not putting our chances away but some of the posters on here who havesudenly come out the woodwork need to ask themselves are they really supporters ffs.

Comments like we will lose our next three now and the slating of Robins is just pathetic and makes me wonder why so many only show their face on here when we have a bad result to make negative Robins out etc comments

Really? Everyone appears to be a regular poster and nobody has 'slated' Robins. Stop being hysterical.

Games like today happen, everyone knows that, but on the back of a thumping last week, only 1 win in 6, no away wins all season, no goals scored in 4 of the last 5, it is a little worrying don't you think?

I agree cc84, the pair of them are not hungry enough to want to score the goals to get us out of this division. You can see it in their faces after a miss. Its like 'oh well, better luck next time I suppose'. Goal scorers are born not bread, they are greedy and get proper p****d off with themselves when they miss or don't score in a game , even if their side has won! They haunt the six yard box and look for any scrapes, and will claim as theirs any
ricochet or og if they were anywhere near it. I just don't see it in these two.

Chances created, simply didn't finish. Wakefield who should be coming into replace Jobello also injured, so have O'Hare who rarely got in front of goal - he's a 10 or midfield. Rarely will we see a stonewall penalty, Godden on his own in centre of goal putting it over and none of 4 other decent chances finished. Said at 50 mins we'll lose this 1-0. But I'll still take the style of play we have chosen, lots of nonsense being spoken about changing style - formation, maybe, not the style.

Those slating Hiwula, he is the one player we have that breaks the line. So who would you replace him with?

Wakefield looks comfortable at u23’s level

Too many over reactions. I’m incredibly pissed off, and hope MR absolutely makes it clear to the players that isn’t an acceptable result, but it doesn’t mean it’s the start of a bad run, or we’re suddenly a mid table team or whatever other hysteria will be posted on here.

We play football well; we creat chances, however, as is too often the case, our attackers let us down.

What’s more concerning is the lack of options MR has to change things. Our lack of depth in the winger/inside forward channel means we have to keep the same players. The only potential change is Bakayoko for Godden.

Hiwula is going backwards in terms of finishing, but his all round play was very good today. Nobody else makes the runs he does. Godden tries but is constantly offside. Hiwula was the same last season; he needs a goal and his confidence will improve.

Kasteener is incredibly disappointing. I don’t see the same player others do. When running at players he looks good, but a) he needs to have more about him and b) he doesn’t do it enough. However glass half full; he still has time to improve.

May seem petty, but anyone get pissed off with the ball boys? So slow to get the ball back.

You say Godden tries but how hard is it to not be offside? Should have still had a couple today with glaring misses.

Are the balls he’s been getting the last few games not quite “on a plate” enough? Not putting these away is criminal. He’s not good enough I don’t think.

But you have just said yourself and I agree that our attackers too often let us down. So that’s a goal scoring problem which in turn suggests mid table

not over dramatic

We don’t play with wingers what are you talking about?

hold on your post was on about service from Bright who played the CAM role...now you’re talking about wingers in a formation that doesn’t use wingers.

Are you okay?

What do we play with ? What is Hiwula & O’Hares position today ?

You're wrong about Hiwula. He is the only player who makes runs in behind, otherwise we just pass the ball across the pitch in front of teams like we did when he went off. He just needs a goal rather than fans jumping on his back
I agree. You should not judge how well anyone plays on the strength of two goals they might have scored. I wonder how many of us have actually been in those positions. I thought, overall, Hiwula had a decent game and was getting into positions, making runs and some decent passes. No coincidence that the team looked poorer after he was subbed

Fuck sake we should've won that game!

Unlucky with Godden hitting the post but one of Hiwula's chances should've gone in. He needs a rest now.

We are not good enough for top 6 as it stands, no final third and no plan B.

All of last season we had issues with wasteful finishing and it’s again spilt over into this season. Somethings not right either it’s poor recruitment in strikers or the systems nor right. My thoughts are it’s a combination of both. Except McNulty the strikers at this club have been bang average at best.

If godden is going to be consistent performer in this team it has to be in a pair not being isolated alone. We all know what the thought process is with the ‘three’ but I don’t think it’s been working that well if I’m honest.

So comments from posters who have only posted a handful of times in the past 12 months of I quote

“Fold the club”
“Coventry Crisis”
“Can we not call Sunderland back”
“Anyone who thinks we're getting anywhere near promotion is deluding themselves.”
“We're shite.”
“Haven't fixed any of the issues from last season. If anything we're worse.”
“We’ve never been prolific in front of goal under Robins.”
“the misses are down to the individual player, but who signed them?
and picking Hiwula even though he misses sitters every game.”
“We're going to seriously drop away in the next 3 weeks“
“Wouldn’t be surprised if we lost all of our next three games.”

And you say Im being hysterical.
Two poor games one of which we played them off the park but couldnt finish. The above comments arnt just fans being disappointed or frustrated today they are negative crap from two or three posters who only come on here with shite like this when we lose

Won’t happen mate can’t see us having 2 strikers playing together

We absolutely dominated the game, played class football and created enough chances for a very comfortable win.
Probably the easiest game we're going to have defensively all season and then Tranmere score with pretty much their only attack of the game. That's football.
There's not very much wrong with this team - let's keep the faith. Beyond the result it was an entertaining game to watch with City obviously by far the better footballing side.

No they don't. They play as inside forwards. A winger wouldn't be getting the chances Hiwula has if he was a winger because he'd be too wide.

Jobello played more like a traditional winger as that is his nature, but I think in this formation he should have been tucked in a bit more.

Think of it like a game of fussball and the players are attached via a pole. If the ball goes to the right hand side everyone shifts in that direction, the right inside forward goes wide like a winger, the centre forward goes near post while the left inside forward comes in to the back stick and acts a second striker. Then either the full back or the left centre midfielder should be on hand for any overhit crosses that go out to the left.

Do the same but reverse the sides if the ball goes down the left.

Hiwulas had at least 10 chances on a plate this season that he's missed.

Good post but I slightly disagree they play as wide men (wingers) when out of possession and should cut in and one should try and pull in when the other wide man has possession but effectively there ‘wingers’ as they spend majority of the game wide.

Listened to the second half on talksport extra. The commentator and co commentator were complimentary on our team. They both said our football is at Championship level, and get the finishing sorted and we should be there and thereabouts etc. Sometimes it's good to listen to comments/views from those with no real interest in our club.

On another day, we would of been 3 or 4 nil up by the time Tranmere got their first chance. Godden's 1st half miss, and Hiwula's 2nd half miss were guilt edge chances. We should of also had at least 1 penalty. Godden's shot against the post was just plain unlucky, he did everything right. I remember during our League 2 campaign, that we struggled to break down sides that came to defend at the Ricoh, and we were on the end of a few low scoring defeats. However, we never opened up sides like we did Tranmere. We will get going again. I am not overly convinced by Hyam or Rose though. Neither are pacey or physical enough. Rose should of dived to block the shot that lead to the goal. Morgan Williams should be given a go.
