I'd argue it has arguably gone too far the other way now and the ability to play the ball is given higher consideration than goalkeeping ability. Sort of understandable at the top teamswho don't need to defend as much but for others it's a risky game. Marosi looks like a decent mix.
If some of those keepers had to play at a struggling team it'd be an absolute horror show, but on the other hand good keepers like Cech started to struggle when they were being asked to play the ball out.

But you could go back a little further. Fabien Barthez was the first modern keeper who was technically good enough to play outside goals.
I watched the Qatari U21s train (long story!) a couple of years back and it was very notable how much time was spent on technical kicking skills for the keepers. Qatar is taking the national team very seriously in preparation for the WC and has employed some of the best coaches in the world - as evidenced by their win earlier this year in the Asian Cup beating Japan in the final.
Anyway what I'm trying to say is that I totally agree - ball playing skills are essential for the modern keeper given rule changes/possession football. Oggy I think would struggle with that as well in the modern game even though he was a brilliant keeper in his era.
