Robins' teams usually finish better than they start. If that continues we should be there or thereabouts.

I kind of think that too, but there is some dross in this league (we've not really been exceptional and are third) so no reason with togetherness, organisation and confidence they can't continue. I'm speaking as someone who didn't believe in Leicester even when they'd been there all season and there were just a few games to go! After that I think all bets are off and anything is possible now.
Yeah always seems to be a slow burner, together with Allen (and maybe Jones?) coming back could be a real competition for places. Biamou not played that many games ..... fingers crossed for an exciting second half of the season.

I have stated my beleif we will get promoted.
We have a strong set of players and one of the best squads in this league.
We are yet to see contributions from Allen, Jones and co which makes me think the January window is not that important to us. A striker if Godden remains out to push or replace Biamou must be the thinking because putting out numerous chances away will make all the difference.
We already have team selection headaches not afforded MR's before with Kelly, Walsh, Allen, Shipley, Westbrooke, Wakefield, O'Hare and of course Jones who will all be vying for a starting berth.
We have a similar situation in defenders; Hyam, Rose, Pask, Dabo, Mason, Mc.Fazdean, and Mc.Callum.
Only the striker department has an issue but we have goals in us throughout the team. It's just that 15 goal man we need and Max Biamou should not be under estimated. Godden will score goals when fit. Then there is Hiwula. Would rather see him up front than Bakyoko.
Perhaps the sale of McCallum may pave the way for that striker and I'd have no issue with the excellent Mason back in the side. Though whats availble in January is limited. I would maybe look for a loan from a higherleague club where a good striker remains on the bench most weeks and may be tempted away on loan for regular promotion chasing football?

A word of caution at current rate of progress 12 home games and 15 away games away left we would get 69 or 70 not good enough for automatic.We would have to go up via the playoffs but in the last 10 years 4 times we would not have even made them .

That’s not caution, that’s celebration.
Not played one single game in our city meaning half the attendances at least, More ACL’s than the average hospital, Baka and Biamou up front......etc
It’s not a caution for me, if we make play offs this year, MR has pulled off another miracle. Anything more is truely out of this world.
Let’s not forget, this club is in an absolute mess. Fans have stopped bothering protesting, any Coventry authority isn’t bothered, no MP’s using this as part of local manifesto.
We are playing a club on sat who has a £4m striker !

Some clever bugger will know, but I can't recall a season in recent years ( decades?) when we have exceeded the number we have in the current season. Over to the Eggheads! Edit: just reread my original post, and I was quoting 4 games this season so far (hope that makes sense!)

I actually think he would be better suited to a technical director not manager. The framework he has put in place at the club, and his vision for the club in terms of developing the talent and bringing through players is exceptional. Some of his in game decisions are dubious still for me and it's the 2nd season in a row we've had to drop the preferred formation after a dozen games.
I feel we have a very good squad for this level, albeit young and inexperienced but can’t shake off that under his in-game management we never quite perform to the sum of our parts.

Excellent post Esoterica and more than agree with what you are saying. To your point, Robins is excellent at evolving and improving teams season over season - he is not afraid to make changes and doesn't have favourites - changes are simply made to improve the team. He generally gets those decisions right.
Like you, I also would like to see changes earlier and more frequently in game. Last week we got the win through a moment of brilliance - but I would have preferred to have seen the introduction of O'Hare far earlier to change the tempo. The game last week was calling for a switch to 4-3-3 given Rochdale's limitations and lack of ambition.
Just as an alternative point in reference to the change of formation for the second season.....you could argue that's a positive for Robins in that he's adapted to the players available vs. persevering with a system that was built for our pre-injury hit team. I can think of previous managers who would have kept to the tried and trusted 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.

But he's still doing, by and large, a great job in a sh!t show of a situation. A promotion, two wins at Wembley, increased optimism around the club....all despite everything that's going on. I think he's done a great job as a manager.
Yeah, I get what you're saying about his in game decisions but he's a L1 manager, not Pep or Jurgen. For this level, he's a brilliant manager and I for one, hope he hangs around for a lot longer.

I think MR has done a very good job. He has evolved teams but at times has been 'fortunate' with it. In L2 he was obstinate in playing a formation that was only OK until injuries forced his hand to try two up top which worked in our favour. Had Andreu not picked up his injury I feel he would've persisted with him for quite some time longer. The recent switch in formation has been more of his own back, but IMO was maybe a couple of games later than it should have been as he was determined to show it worked.
Maybe he doesn't have favourites but he does seem to have those he doesn't like. Baka and Hiwula are always pretty high on the blame list. Ponti has never been given a decent try. However, Godden (and Chaplin before him) have largely escaped the same sort of treatment.
I also still get a bit frustrated at his reluctance in game to switch things around when not working or if the opposition change things round and get back in the game due to it. This season it has been less of an issue and you can point to the possession and dominance in games as a good reason not to, but in some of those you've kind of known for 10-15 mins in we weren't going to score that day playing that way and if we hadn't by an hour we needed to try something different but he hasn't.
These are minor gripes though and I'm extremely happy he's our manager.

If you care to check the last 10 seasons only 3 times has the last play off place been less than 73 in 3 others it has been 73 I am taking into account there are only 44 instead of 46 at our current rate we will be shy of 73 a target which even if we did reach our goal difference at present level(+3) would have ruled us out in 2 of them.

I dont get your point? I have projected the points to a 46 game season.Every 2 games 1 home 1 away there is always the possiblity of teams picking up 6 points.
